Make your own Honda HISS key

Losing a key with immobilizer chip can be a nightmare. Losing both keys IS a nightmare so had to get one made. The local Honda dealer quoted me 250 Euros to make a new one so decided to look into how it could be done myself. The bike is Honda NC 700 X from 2012 but this trick should work with most Hondas that comes with the HISS.

A very not scientific measurement of the battery. This is how we use it in the real world. This is testing how many amp hours we will get from the stated "200Ah" battery but pulling a load of approx 200 watt/h continuously. It's not even close.

      Left it charging all day in the sun. It "maxes" out at 13.5v. When the charger is unhooked and it's left to sit for 5 minutes it drops to 13.4v Have tested it with two different multimeters and the "gimmick" is pretty accurate.

    • @frodev728
      @frodev728 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AsailingDIYlifechannel I build batteries so I’m well versed in the chemistry and charge characteristics. A single cell won’t fully charge if it’s not going above 3.375V. That would equate to 13.5V for a 4 cell battery such as yours. however it’s not until it gets above 3.4V per cell (13.6V) that the charge time becomes reasonable. To complicate further, if your cells are far out of balance it’s possible one cell is hitting 3.65V (and therefore fully charged) which causes the BMS to stop charging, but the other 3 cells might still be below 3.375V and so not properly charging. That could explain your terrible capacity test results. if you have access to a bench power supply and a ~3.6V load of some kind, I would try discharging each cell to 2.65V and see how much current it takes to charge each back up to 3.65v. (you can do it with the cells still connected in series if you’re careful not to let it over discharge or over charge). at the end of that your pack will be more or less top balanced again. 👍🏼

    Excellent work. Where did you source the batteries, case, and BMS?

      Hi Evan. Batteries are from AliExpress - Liitokala Official Store. Not sure how official it is - but as stated: They were supposed to be 105Ah and in fact they are 90Ah It took approx. 6 week from ordering 'till they arrived. BMS from the same place and case is from the local hardware store :)

      Elle gère plutôt bien la mer. Je suis sûr que mon père prendra bien soin d'elle. Les îles du sud de Funen sont un endroit parfait pour elle. :)

      Yep. It is fully charged after 5-6 hours of sun. Then I can run my computer setup for approx. 5 hours

    Hello. I'd like to purchase one of these. Maybe I can find one in Middelfart ? I'm flying the area anytime soon.
