I bite on the end of the mainline. That way i have both hands free for the tying.
I've tried that method, but I talk too much 😂
Cheers legend! 🤙🏼
I might have a go at that knot it finishes smaller than the knot I use cheers Kev
I’m going to try that risotto finish thing now. thanks kev.
Just make sure to not over cook it 🍻
Ben asked me to show how I tie my FG, so here it is mate. Enjoy. PS for anyone else here, go check out the fishing content, it's not entirely the same as everyone else 😉🍻🎣👌
howdy from texas. lots of similarities from cod and yellas to bass and bluegill. very fun to watch!
Have to agree mate, I love watching large mouth bass fishing 🎣
Great stuff Kev some good yellas and I see the young bloke you gave a spinnerbaits to hooked up as well great stuff finally had a fish up that way a week ago only got one small cod can’t believe how clear the water below Bridgewater cheers mate tight lines
The clarity is great hey, we're not seeing large amounts of irrigation flows which keeps the river clearer for longer. Hopefully next time you visit you'll get into a few more 🍻
Great video mate Unfortunately the lower Loddon also has a lot of problems with illegal fishing, have come across set lines and nets all too often.
Cheers Tim, It's a shame hey, people need to understand the impact they're having on our waterways.
Gotta somehow dob the people in who are setting lines. Im sure the vic fisheries would love to chat to them
Oh they would certainly love it 😉
Good job mate ! 🔥🙏🏽
Cheers Sonny, appreciate the support 🍻
Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that telling thousands of people about quality small streams attracts the wrong sort of people. I'm not saying stop doing the videos. Just stop naming quality small streams. I am 60 years old and the damage I have seen social media do to many small streams in the last 20 years makes me cry
I agree it can certainly impact small streams and creeks. The Loddon River has a reputation for being a great place to fish, and it is a shame some people take advantage of it.
I would disagree here, I don’t think social media has as big of an impact as people think, my thoughts would be that there are just more people fishing this day than there was 20 years ago, Vic fisheries pushing the target 1 million. I don’t see it as a bad thing but something that will benefit every angler. There’s too much gate keeping these days, sharing info to someone else only promotes good fishing practice and helps them catch fish. If people are jealous of that then that’s pretty sad, we should be pushing as many people as possible to catch more fish, it will only improve yourself as an angler! Just my thoughts
@@OutbackAdventuresAustralia 💯 agree, I share experiences for this exact reason, everyone has fun and benefits from it. Though I believe Lionel was referring to small streams and creeks, which I don't feel the Loddon River fits that category, sure it has a lot of skinny sections, but it can hold its own. Some small creeks though, just can't sustain large amounts of fishing, without impacting the experience. Naturally though, they won't be popular and people won't visit often, there is always a balance.
Good video man 👍🏻
Cheers 🍻
Unfortunately I’ve come across legal fishing recently. A trip to the Ovens over Christmas & witnessed undersized Cod going straight into the esky & an illegal net run across an inner Melbourne family lake, which had caught 4x EP’s & 1 Golden. I needed to cut the net to release the fish. The fact that most people do the right thing is one of the reasons these pricks have fish to catch. Hopefully Fisheries are catching up with these individuals. Really enjoying the content, hoping to get up to both the Lodden & Campaspe for a session. Keep up the great work!
It's a shame for sure, and when they get caught they certainly pay for it. Victoria has some really tough laws compared to other states. Glad you're enjoying the adventures, we might cross paths one day 😉
Awesome video mate.Last weekend I was in Loddon river got a donut and relaxing next the river in Serpentine is beautiful.
I was at Bridgewater yesterday, 6hrs and a donut, great scenery though. We'll hanger better luck next time 🍻
Awesome vid again mate You’ll have to put an order in ;) haha
Always need a few spare
Hey mate, logan here thanks a lot for that spinner bait I caught a 55cm yella with it and it fought hard and then I got onto something that snagged me instantly but thank you so much for it
That's a ripper yella, awesome work. You'll have to pick up a couple spinner baits and hook into a few more.
Reward for hard work Gee the colours are good
Cheers 🍻, sometimes the hard work pays off. You're right, the colors are amazing
nice work mate
Well done Kev . Nice to see you help out a fellow fisherman 👊👍. Sad to hear some people are still doing the wrong thing with set lines etc. I hope they get what they deserve. Keep up the good work.
@@noelgraham7243 that's it, it will eventually catch up to them.
What an absolutely pathetic size to release into a feeding fest of other river inhabitants...
There's a lot to it mate, I do not work for the Victorian Fisheries and they have all the science behind it, it isn't so cut and dry, though from my understanding this is the optimal size to release. While fingerlings are vulnerable to predators initially, they can often find shelter more easily than larger, less agile fish. It's also easier and more economical for hatcheries to raise large numbers of fingerlings compared to growing them to a larger size. Small fingerlings are easier to transport in large quantities with minimal stress and mortality compared to larger fish. Smaller fish are more adaptable to the transition from the hatchery to natural environments and releasing smaller fingerlings allows them to grow and adapt to the river ecosystem from a younger age, helping them develop better survival instincts.
@tworodsdownunder Thank you for taking the time to explain mate. ❤️
great video buddy ty
Cheers 🍻, I appreciate the support.
Mate, the best video. I usually watch videos for a couple of minutes, and then I see you on my feed clicked on it and couldn't stop watching it also reminds me of My solo session in the morning recently I caught 2 cod and 4 yellas thx for appearing on my phone luv ya.❤
Cheers 🍻 Mitchell, sounds like you really enjoyed the adventure, very similar to your recent outing. I love hearing how others are going with their own fishing adventures, where abouts in Australia do you wet a line?
@tworodsdownunder the Murrumbidgee river a favourite, my dads farm is on the boarder on NSW and the ACT the farm backs onto the murrumbidgee so I fish there all the time my pb cod is 97cm I caught it on a black and green lightning pattern old mate on a 1-3kg ugly stick with shimano nexave 1000FC spooled with 6 pound mono ( I was seven at the time) thanks for posting such intriguing videos can't wait for the next one. Seeya
@tworodsdownunder 👏👏👏 Thats an awesome fish man. Well done. Love your content. Where abouts in the Loddon do you fish? (I'm not asking for your exact location but a general area?)
Cheers 🍻Luke, I fish a lot of places along the Loddon, mainly between the Laanecoorie Res and Serpentine. Big stretch I know, though I'm careful to not over fish areas since the fish start to wise up to my lures! 😅
Slurp it ya dog 😂
how do you catch carp of lures???
Just be sneaky, good aim and patients. Grab a floating lure with a good size treble on the back, cast past the carp sucking the waters surface and slowly bring the lure near its mount. Wait for it to suck the lure in and strike hard 😉🎣🍻
@ Oh yes thankyou kev what size hard body do you think i should try 60mm? i fish the campaspe and lodden and see heaps along the bank.
@Dobies.Outdoors 60 to 90 just needs a good size treble on the tail
@ oh yep i will try tonight
FYI there was a strange beep when you were explaining what you were going to do with your pliers.
I'll let you fill in the blanks Daniel 😂
@@tworodsdownunder One more thing I noticed, with captions on it has you saying "Cop Slaying"...
@@boatmang04 😂
Great spot there where you are fishing and to camp it’s hard work on the cod but when you get one it’s usually a good one. Took me three trips before I got my first card. My wife nailed hers on the first trip. We love Fishing there.
That's absolutely awesome, I bet that gave her bragging rights for a while 😆 I can't wait to get back there.
Awesome moment in time father daughter moment ❤
That looks like a bit of fun Kev
Make the most of every moment
Awesome session mate, what speed were you trolling at?
Cheers 🍻, nothing like a lazy troll here and there 😅. I usually troll between 2.5 to 3 km/h (1.34 to 1.61 knots).
Cheers for the enjoyable video on your boat build good job tight lines my friend
Appreciate the support! It was a long journey, love the outcome.
great job
Great job. Kind of wondering why didn't release some at a different place
Sorry it wasn't something covered well in the video, this was the forth drop. 👌
Nice work Kev, hope you can gather more subscribers and build your channel. Surprised I haven't run into you out there, I fish around Bendigo every day. The videos with the 2 of you are my fav, big fan of the banter and shenanigans 💯
Cheers Geoff, I do come across a fair few lads out and about. Paul and the shenanigans will return, just been busy driving trucks around the country. So I've had to solo it for a bit here.
I love what you said and am thinking about maybe doing this myself.
Glad to hear it, get out there and have some fun doing it! Cheers. 🍻
That’s a good fish Kev nice work
Nice catch! Looks like a great spot.
Cheers! It's a bit of a hidden gem. 😉
Trap is a wog design😂
😅
I can't believe you just dumped them all in one spot with hardly any natural hiding spots for the little guys, most will be eaten in the next few days. why not release them in batches down the river and in places where there is better cover. My father had a property that the Lodden went through, so I know the river well. Pick your act up and do a better job with any more that are released, releasing them in the shallows too is pathetic really quite a few went back to the shallowest water. I don't like dumping on people but when good ideas are ruined by morons I have to say something,
This was the fourth drop, but I wasn't going to bore everyone with an hour video. The drop locations are defined by the Victorian Fisheries, they do the science and understand it much better than both yourself and I. I find it amusing that you feel a comment like this belongs on a small TH-cam channel mate 😅, if you're concerned about the stocking program Victorian Fisheries are your best bet. I kindly turn it back on yourself mate and ask yourself to pick up your act and think before you post nonsense online for the world to see.
As a 68-year-old, I'm more of a salt water fish'o... BUT, I dip's me lid to you. GREAT JOB! 👍👍
Cheers Wayne 🍻
If that river is like many others, you are just feeding the carp. But better than nothing.
You're not wrong a lot will become food, that's why in numbers we can make a small dent. Hopefully the government agrees to a controlled release of the carp virus, or systems are plagued with them.
Awesome stuff may I ask where do you get the swim mikey from
It's a Jackall Swing Mikey 115, if your local tackle shop doesn't stock them you can purchase them online 😉
Nothing like a last light surface boof in a corner edge
Nice catch mate. Nice spot to cast a line and good video. Thanx for sharing and good luck finding that elusive monster cod 🎣
Great cod pity you didn't get the footage 😅
Yeah, it was a bummer I missed that bit, but one for the memory bank! 😅
Where at the midden do you go Kev Nice fish by the way😃👍
Usually around Bridgewater mate.
Nice one! Great job!.
Well done Kev. Ive done an amazing job to get monetized in a year. Sh!t, im about to hit 3 years and cant see the end of the tunnel yet. Keep up the good work 👍🏼🎣🐟
Cheers mate, I've really enjoyed it so far and it's something I can't see myself giving up anytime soon, fishing is life 🎣🍻
Nice fish Kev. Good condition on that fish. I tend to film in 3-4 min chunks in the kayak when near good timber. I don't cast if the go pro is not on. Managed to get 5/5 meteries on film, but missed a couple of cool bits of vision due to camera failure.
I generally film non stop, though because I had to scale a cliff and walk a bit I decided to turn off the camera, that's what caught me out, I forgot to start again 😂 one for the memory bank.
@@tworodsdownunder the bigs always hit when you least expect!
GR8 stuff. Terrific to see the respect for these majestic creatures with catch and release . Mind you, fishing with those sorts of multi hooked lures is akin to fishing with a net. You would be sulky if you were dragged out of your comfort zone by a hook deceptively placed in some food you chowed down on ripping on the inside of your mouth. Fish are sentient creatures. Kudos regardless.
🍻
Great video - you're an excellent communicator mate! I've been toying with the idea of getting a GoPro for fishing because it would be easier to get those epic moments just like you. This might just tip me over the edge 😀
Cheers Andrew 🍻, all I can say is go for it. You won't regret it, sometimes I just sit there watching my catches over and over 🤣
Fantastic work
Thank you! Cheers!🍻
