‘Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus’ wasn’t the ‘vision of the pre-Vatican II Church’, it’s was (and is) dogmatically defined teaching. The alternative post-Vatican II ‘vision’ of an ecumenical church leads to universalism (that all are saved), a heresy that has been denounced more than once in the Church’s long history. JPII was wrong on this essential characteristic of the Church’s ecclesiology. The Church is missionary, not ecumenical.
