I'm right there with you. I love this game so much. I love choosing my favorite allies and just let my inner kid out. I even had a bday where all I wanted was my friends to do 4 players with me. It was a good day and everyone had fun. It's Kirby superstar on crack. Negative people just have no heart and probably hate themselves a little bit lol I always need to have Rick the hamster, chilly snowman eyebrows, umbrella Dee, waddle jester Doo, Birdon, and my king Gim somewhere in my composition. Great video! A friend of mine had this game during college, and it was what got me back into the kirby franchise. Idc if it's not the best. I've got SOOOOO many good memories with this game. Don't know if you'll make another vid like this, but here's hoping.

I bought star allies on release, got a bit sad it didn't have as much content as Superstar back then, and while I did unlock the retro Kirby I'm not sure I ever finished the last new mode fully. This video makes me wanna start over again tho :3

To add to your take on Hyness, It is possible that Hyness did follow Void but that following became twisted by his desire for revenge (and Void's own corruption). In other words, Hyness's own corruption caused him to follow the corrupted version of Void which soured himself in the process (to the point of using Void Termina as more of a tool of vengeance).

I have been a Kirby fan since 2016, and the moment the Star Allies trailer dropped just a few months after I became a Kirby fan, my jaw dropped. Kirby Super Star was one of the first Kirby games I ever played (And at that time, it was only a few months ago when I had played it) and to see a more soaked up version of the 2-player mode into a 4-player version made me so happy. Two years later, I got a Switch, and I got Star Allies a few days later. And it instantly became one of my favorite games of all time. I was only 11 at the time (Yes, I may sound very young to a lot of people) so I didn’t understand what it took to make a game bad or good. The only thing I thought was “If I enjoyed it, it was a good game.” A year later, it was 2019. I let one of my friends borrow the game, but he unfortunately lost it. Luckily I 100%’d it before I gave it to him. Many years passed. Over those years, I learned that Star Allies was a bad game. It honestly made me sad because I loved that game to death. I understood the criticism, but deep down, I knew that the game wasn’t as bad as everyone said it was. Especially with the extra content. So I decided that I should rebuy it, and replay it to see if the internet was right. Late August, 2023. Almost a year ago as I’m typing this out. I finally rebought the game. I decided to not play it until I make a review of the game myself. Finally, just yesterday, I made a new file after not playing it for 5 years. And I’m glad to say that I was right. This game is still very fun to play. I understand the flaws now, but all you gotta do to enjoy it is go with the flow. Like you said, it’s fun to just turn off the brain and play this game. I have a feeling that everyone who played this game and disliked it were too impatient, and were expecting slightly more complex puzzles like with the other games in the series. But if you just mellow out and relax, this game becomes incredibly fun. The charm and cuteness will make you smile, you’ll vibe out in the environments, you’ll jam out with the music, it’s those small things that make this game truly fun. Like I said before, I wanted to make a review of this game myself. I decided to click on the first retrospective I found to see other people’s inputs and takes to see how other people felt, and to make sure that I don’t accidentally copy and paste someone else’s script lol. And of course I made sure that the video I clicked wasn’t 5 years old, and was an actual retrospective. And I was greeted with this video. And I’m glad that you and I had close to the same thoughts. I never knew this game was disliked. Hearing the critiques, yeah fair point. However, I genuinely do enjoy Star Allies. It holds a special place in my heart for being the game that fully immersed me into Kirby lore. The void and ancients theories are still my favorite part of Kirby lore. Star Allies is a fun game with a little more underneath, and to me that’s what Kirby has always been.

star allies was "a bad kirby game" which like pixar until recently still made it pretty good but the 2 games before and after were triple deluxe, robobot, forgoten land, and return to dreamland dx story, pick and choose forgoten did understandability better while forgoten land was more unique. bonus stuff, return. dificulty, tbh ive only been able to play robobot forgoten and star recently and while all were pretty decent star was only hard because of sleep deprivation

I love Kirby Star Allies. It was the first Kirby game I owned and actually fully completed. It’s not my favorite, nor is it the best, today I would give it a 7 like other people, especially after play other Kirby games and especially the other modern ones, but seeing people say it’s a bad game is so sad. I agree with you, reviews on the game mostly only look at the Story Mode, which is why it is received poorly. Great video!

Star allies isnt bad. It's a solid title, but it's not groundbreaking. But that also shouldn't be a bad thing. I don't always want to eat lobster. Sometimes I want a hone cooked meal. Nothing flashy but comfort non the less

I like pretending the gameplay of this game is just the Ultimate choice and Allies don't exist XD. I've beaten Soul Melter EX with with half the character roster (currently stuck on the Suplex ability, I LOVE Suplex but man it ain't great). The final phase with true Void is one of the coolest bosses in all of gaming for me, especially using ability-less Kirby. The one attack he does where you have to float in the center of the screen right in front of his eye fills me with chills.

Personally I dont even think there is anything in particular wrong with the game, its just so offensivly inoffensive, if you get me. There really arent that many memorable moments that stood out to me no: wow thats cool moment, ok that one is a lie the final Boss goes really hard. (as in almost every other Kirby game). To me its just like there is something missing like an X factor, that star allies kind of fails to achieve imo. Outside of the non exsisting difficulty. Like I think the entire heart mechanic is cool for the first Level but then its more annoying then anything. When the CPUs just do everything for you. Maybe the experience would be better if you play Solo honestly. I think the best thing about Star allies is still the Arena and how you can adjust the Difficulty for it, its still rather easy when you go in with your full cpu party but Soloing it is actually quite the Challange.

Honestly i think all this game needed to do is be difficult enough to where you may feel inclined to actually feel inclined to have 4 party members, like just jack up the enemy's capabilities and health, and the simple levels and gigantic variety in abilities and allies can make this the most action packed kirby title in the franchise with an emphasis on multiplayer. They made a MASSIVE mistake making it EASIER even when you don't put allies into the equation.

Thanks for the retrospective :) The one regret I have about getting Star Allies is that I got it for the sake of completion. A friend of mine let me borrow Forgotten Land and RTDL Deluxe for a week before I bought this, and I ended up being dissapointed because I suddenly got why people hated this game. Though it's nice to know some actually like it a lot

My favorite game too!! Love the lore, the power of friendship, the extra modes, mini games, arena, and I didn't even know about them providing the classic Kirby model!

This game was meant for: - Children - Playing with friends who do not know anything about Kirby games - Not being taken seriously Pretty much anything beyond mashing buttons and easy puzzles that break up the pace work against this game. If you're playing this as a one player game, expecting a challenge, you've been playing it wrong.

One thing I think people forget way too often is how beautiful the game is, Void termina's fight background is simply jaw-dropping. Personally, this was the third time I heard about Kirby, the first being a Pokémon magazine with a Triple Deluxe ad, the second is my first game, Battle royale (yes, that spin-off everyone forgot about). I then saw some video about Kirby Star Allies, everything was good but the end, it was majestic and without it I wouldn't be in Kirby today. (Ironic for the game with a lot of fan-service) Lot of time pass and I actually didn't play or watch anything kirby related until my fav youtuber started to do Kirby lore videos. And so I got a copy of Star Allies, then got Forgotten land and (already 1 year ago) Deluxe. Void is still to this day my favorite boss ever and its music my favorite piece of music. Kirby quickly became my favorite franchise of all time. Thank you for this video, it warms my heart to see other liking this overhated game.

I just like it because it’s fun and it makes me relaxed and happy like all Kirby things. The worst thing to hear about this game is that it’s lazy, I get the critiques but calling it lazy is just objectively wrong. Amazing video!

I watched this video a decent while ago, and it made me really wanna get star allies to play it, I didn’t wanna pay full price for it cuz I wasn’t in the best financial spot at the time so I got it on my modded switch for free and played through it. I loved it soooo much that I was looking to properly purchase a physical copy but again, couldn’t find it for a decent price anywhere, funnily enough, Nintendo had a sale for it on their site for 30% off so I got it, and I 100%ed since then and I’m currently playing through different characters’ Guest Star Allies Go mode and finishing up all the pictures! I’m having a blast again and I wanted to come back here to thank you for making this amazing video and incentivizing me to play this amazing game!!!

I love this game too and don't understand the hate some people have for it. I LOVE the guest game and getting to play as all kinds of characters! This game was one I was waiting to get (got some gift cards) and managed to get a physical copy with the case from Gamestop. (I want to collect the cases of games I buy) I have been playing the hell out of it and enjoy Kirby in general ❤ Now I await Robobot and Triple Deluxe to come out on Switch!!

I'm in the same boat with you when it comes to the Mage-Sisters. Those fuckers live in my head rent free (especially Zan) and I am all for them living in my head rent free. Also, Star Allies holds a special place in my heart as it was my first Kirby game and what got me into the franchise as a whole!

I didn’t appreciate Star Allies all that much, even though I first played it in 2020 after all the updates were out. Now that I took my time with it recently, my view has changed completely. I still find the main story to be a little boring, but everything past that is incredible. All the Dream Friends were packed with references to their origin game, the music is criminally underrated (Ancient Towera is a new favorite), and the whole game rewards you for being a fan. Void and Morpho Knight are 2 new favorites of mine because of what they represent. Void was robbed of a chance at life since it was forced down the path of become another Dark Matter type creature. The pause text and sad Green Greens arrangement that plays in the last phase of its fight really hammers in that it didn’t get the chance to live the same cozy life that Kirby does. Which is why I really like the idea of the “classic” Kirby skin that you unlock right after being Void’s reincarnation. Morpho Knight is just cool as hell.

I think kirby is such a consistently polished and well rounded franchise that a game being a 7/10 ranks around the bottom of a tier list. Not because its bad or mid, just because the franchise as a whole is so well done and consistent that something being a little average is considered the weakest link, when so many other franchises would kill to have that sort of repute

Kirby Star Allies' themes of second chances and new beginnings are even further punctuated by Kirby and the Forgotten Land as it acts as both a literal second chance for people who were disappointed by Star Allies and the beginning of a new era of 3D Kirby adventures, it's like when something is narratively satisfying but actually it's real life, it's simply wonderful! As much as I really, really love Forgotten Land to itty-bitty pieces though... Star Allies still etchs it out by just a smidge for me. Disregarding all other factors it all mainly came down to one thing: Which game has Beetle and which one does not? That's what I thought.
