I want to try making my own light fixtures as everybody seems to have the same limited style of lights. Where would I get the housing for the battery lights? I've found the lights with a switch on aliexpress but not the housing.

So many easier ways you just had the wood in the wrong direction

It's not that hard. Set the crown molding so that it sits with the upper and lower edges against the bottom and side wall. This is how it will fit when installed. Then while holding it like this make your miter cut. Simple.
