Better quality version without frame skipping. Not sure where the tape originates.
Jools Holland is the host for this MTV special documenting some of the bands on the I.R.S. Records label with concert footage and interviews. Featuring: The Go-Go's, Oingo Boingo, Jello Biafra, Alley Cats, The Cramps, and Wall of Voodoo.

Boot-up intro for TiVo (Series 2 models) in 4K (2004)
I was 12 and loved MTV. It was always on in my house.
Slayer was just starting
That was Adam Ant with Grace Jones by the way.
OMG! Did I age watching that?! Sure did! What happened?! 😭 I miss'em! I miss'em! I miss'em! The 80s! What are going to do?
It seems like yesterday to me. Time flys
How ironic that at around 12 minute mark when B Geldof is giving his interview, INXS can be heard in the background . . . .
All that music news and no Journey??
i dont think we knew how good we had it.
What MTV played music videos ? ! How odd !
Just to think only a few decades later nutcase Madonna with threatened to blow up the White House.
My Fav, 1985, buzzing teen magic man
Man I miss that decade!😢I was in my late teens and early 20s during the 80s, witnessed it all! What a great decade! I would go back on a heart beat!! Where does time goes!? Holy crap!!
Hell raising.back in the day was so fun.watching this .we we're so corny.😅wouldn't change for the world. Best of times.thank lord.
I felt that link Bob!
I love how they claim that USA For Africa 'inspired spin off benefits' when it was itself a spin off inspired by Live Aid.
Man I’m glad I was already into New York hardcore they were bunch of kid touchers
MTV is sitting on a gold mine of old footage. They should release these shows with the commercials of the era on DVD sets. People would buy this to relive those younger days😊
LOL...the 4th best selling album of all time? Springsteen? "Born in the U.S.A. was voted the best album of the year in the 1984 Pazz & Jop critics poll." Pazz and Jop? Born in the U.S.A. has appeared on several best-of lists. In 1987, Born in the U.S.A. was voted the fifth greatest rock album of all time in Paul Gambaccini's Critic's Choice poll of 81 critics, writers, and radio broadcasters. Great band...Clemons, Silvio Dante...I mean little Stevie Van Zandt {his birthday is Nov. 22...Kennedy...he was 13 the day it happened}...he played Jerry Vale in Scorsese's The Irishman...and Max Weinberg...band leader and drummer for Conan O'Brien...
By 1985 MTV was playing a lot of crappy music. The New Wave movement was gone and all the good “alternative” music was pushed to 10pm or Sunday nights
The music of the 80s was so great, there was one, and only one, bad song the entire decade. One. I know, cause I was there. The 80s: _Lived ‘em. Loved ‘em. Miss ‘em._
Almost all the money from LiveAid was pilfered. Almost none went to feed the hungry.
Most of 1985i was 14 years old but at the end of85, I turned 15 and loving life and memories of 1985made me grow up
I was 6 years old I was in elementary school
Wow she was GaGa before Ga Ga was cool 😂
Good evening. I had mtv on the Navajo reservation in 1982-1986😊I’m a transgender ❤
World premier videos. Awesome
Not just the music but TV movies toys even the commercials were great Patriotism was at a high level unity and pride of the country optimism was high just a more positive outlook environment, altogether sure do miss it We as kids outside riding our bicycles, climbing trees roaming through the neighborhood, hanging out with groups of friends, talking on the telephone spending the night over at friends’s house Going to the malls hanging out at arcade galleries food courts Bowling alleys I mean some of the stuff if not most of it you can still do, but it’s just not the same
When MTV was thee TV music video channel. I was 23 in 85 and watched MTV almost daily (had a job and life). I never watch it today. How far it has fallen and quite literally become a joke. Thankfully I have my memories.
It’s sad how much I liked Madonna until the 90’s.
thanks for this upload....the decade that "real" music ruled and '85 was indeed a banner year for music
RIP Quincy Jones, 2024!
My soulmates talking about music 🤤🤤🤤
1985-1986 I'm in high school..4th year high school
Sean penn was one lucky dude in 1985.
now its all monkeys rapping about BS …
I was 14 in 1985, would plug my headphones in my portable cassette player, play the tape of many of the bands in this video, and dream about my major crush...Martha Quinn.
What a music scene !!
The 80s 💚💜🧡- No decade will ever come close.
Was born 97 I missed so much of such a great era 🥺
Can someone punch me back in time 🫡
Tina Turner was in The Who's Tommy before she was in Mad Max.
Not since Bob Geldof in 1985 has the world seen anything like Live Aid, Band Aid, or Farm Aid. I was only 3 years old at the time. Never before or since has the world seen anything like 1985. What went wrong? I know the internet happened. But I mean, MTV doesn't even play music videos anymore?
Alphaville ' s "Forever Young" summarizes that decade for me.
Lots of great and fun music in the 80s😃
Tipper Gore's attack on music is why I could never vote for Al Gore.
Started working for ovation instruments New Hartford Connecticut usa 3-1986-5-1-1987 broke leg
Only gets better with time.
Arcadia so red the rose was great
For years I mistook Lindsey Buckingham songs for Kenny logging. Vacation holiday road I thought was Kenny logging was soundtrack king. I was so anti hippie Fleetwood mac when Lindsey cut his hair 80s style I said ok. Glen fry had some good 80s drug Miami vice stuff.im like" the dude in the big lebowski" no eagles.
Wow. I forgot how jam packed 1985 was. Seems like the entire 80s happened in 1985. ❤
i seen just about every show in this video except wham an i walked out on sting he was so bad that tour prince tom petty john cougar sting and tina i went to all them shows that yr and more
