Honestly, my favorite part of this is that during Gwyn's speech to the Chosen Undead we see the three knights from the Father of Darkness arc (Artorias, Gough, and Ciaran) in the background, acting as a sort of reminder of the people he's had to sacrifice to keep the fire going this long. However, Artorias is the only one that doesn't fade away at the end which hints at the Chosen Undead continuing his legacy of fighting back the Abyss. I think this gets confirmed when, after the effects of his Pling Pling Plong Gambit, he clashes with the Chosen and we see two things: 1) the Chosen is using what looks like Artorias' Great Shield to rappidly parry Gwyn, and 2) the Chosen's trusty straight sword fly into their air. The best part is that (spoilers) the op doesn't show that when the dust settles, the straight sword in the Chosen Undead's hands has changed to Artorias' greatsword, which he uses to defeat Gwyn and gives himself up to feed the First Flame while telling Solaires' summoned phantom "I shall be the Sun you strived for."
