    Another excellent video, Ben, you guys at Gwinear could easily give Hollywood a run for their money with your production values!!! Defo gonna pop into the shop in the coming weeks for a chat. We moved down to Scorrier in November 2022 and my angling exploits have been somewhat embarrassing to be fair. Been out on a few occasions with local mates, but it's been hard going. Especially when my limited knowledge has trumped theirs! 🤔Now have most of the gear, with little to no idea! @GwinearAngling 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you mean in the Gannel mate, it’s stuffed full of brownies in the section from the boating lake to Trevemper bridge! They are mostly very small though, one as long as your hand would be a goodun in there. I used to catch them on mepps spinners as a kid but they should respond well to other small lures.

    • @GwinearAngling
      @GwinearAngling หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only places I know near you with a good rep for brownies are stithians res (fly only I think) and the river at st erth near Hayle (not sure whether lure fishing is allowed or if it is fly only). Generally, Cornwall has middling to poor wild brownie fishing in the rivers. The fish are usually very small.

    • @PilzE.
      @PilzE. หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GwinearAngling Shame that, big fan of brownies, is there a much prettier, hard fighting, freshwater lure predator in the UK? Stithians is defo fly only, which is criminal as I'd love a day out on the kayak catching some rainbows or brownies for our tea! Yeah, justnever attempted fly fishing, although there is a lake out near Reawla that offers lessons. LOVE lures, love everything about lure fishing, and, tbf, don't see a huge difference between lures and flies, well, other than the abject snobbery, of course! I just feel, a dawn stalk, along some outback river, mist rising, along with the trout, is heavenly. Maybe I bite the bullet and have a peak at fly lessons. Thank you for your help, Ben, next time we're up your way I will 100% pop in to shake your hand, Sir. Your mullet videos, uploaded in your previous TH-cam life, are still a great watch. 👍

    • @GwinearAngling
      @GwinearAngling หลายเดือนก่อน

      I definitely prefer brownies to rainbows, I think they’re better looking. I agree about the lure fishing too, there seems to be still some snobbery attached to fly fishing which, in many cases, I think is unjustified. Both disciplines have their skills and on waters such as stithians there is more than enough room to accommodate both methods. Good luck if you decide to venture into the fly world, if you do, the river side of things is definitely easier I think as most of the time you aren’t casting any distance and there are few wild trout in Cornish rivers that will say no to a small black dry fly! 😄Thanks for the kind words mate and I look forward to seeing you in the shop, Ben

      Hi Dan, I don’t know exactly which part of the bay you are concerned about but I would be beyond surprised if it gets so busy that you can’t find a spot to fish on a mile or so of foreshore. I first moved to Pentire in 1995/1996 and when I started fishing at Fistral it often got very busy then. Every good bit of rock to fish from would have someone on it, especially in summer when the mackerel were in. When there was a good surf, all the gullies at north Fistral would have anglers lure fishing on them and at night, there would be multiple headlamps on the beach. Truth be told, I haven’t seen it anything like that for many years. Ben

I fished cellars years ago and can confirm I spent a fair few hours entertaining and feeding the seal(s) with the mackerel I was pulling in 😅! IF you ever get bored creating fantastic, informative and angling relevant films about your local area please do tour the country doing the same. I and I suspect others would love to get your thoughts on other marks around the coast. Keep the content coming, your time and effort is greatly appreciated.

      Thanks for the feedback Gary, it would definitely be fun to explore some new marks like you say but I think we will be keeping it fairly local, at least for the time being. In Cornwall we have a good idea about which places we can talk about without upsetting too many folks. Those seals that live around there are all fat as houses from the steady mackerel diet 😅

      I think that depends on what you’re looking for in your fishing. If you like fishing in the surf, the north coast would be your place. If you prefer calmer water then the south. If you want the best chance of bigger fish, then the estuaries (particularly the south coast estuaries) seem to be the places for that these days.
