Hucklesbrook flooding update

13/04/24 Hucklesbrook, one of best carp venues in the clubs portfolio is still seeing increased water levels. Water is up over the swims gabions by 6 inches in places. Hucklesbrook Lake is a six acre gravel pit that holds an excellent head of carp to over 30lb and tench into double figures. There is also a large head of silverfish with both roach and perch over 2lb present.
Wainsford Swim Update 9/4/24

Along with the rest of the venues in the clubs portfolio, Wainford has seen increased water levels. Although regulated by a monk, the path around the lake is severely waterlogged.

A beautiful estate lake in deep countryside, Wainsford is a fantastic place to spend some time fishing. It offers a very rare opportunity to catch wild carp. One of the rustic lake venue Christchurch Angling club as to offer. Like the rest of them, increased rain has caused boggy paths and fallen trees, though water levels are regulated by a monk.

River Avon bursting at Upper Winkton

A quick overview of the state of Upper Winkton. The change in levels between the summer and now are incredible, with water running over the paths and weirs along the venue. The water is crystal clear, and often hard to judge the depth of water flowing over the paths, catching me out a couple of times. Fished here in the early 90s I think when the club first acquired them IIRC>>? Anyway, caught lots of big gold fish and golden orfes. They were scrappy little buggers- very exciting!
What weight rod is recommended for this venue?
Sorry to say but this place is virtually unfishable banks are in a shocking state if you've got a 20ft rod you might be able to fish the margin crying shame fished this as a young lad of 10 and the keeper helped me hook my first barbel just under the bridge with promptly smashed me up because I had a knot in the line LOL who's responsible for bank management this could be great again
Fond memories of fishing matches between myself and my friend who lived opposite the lay-by entrance we would have gudgeon competitions above the eel trap, or sit on the dried up overflow sill fishing for perch. Early to mid 90s.
I remember the two old boys in the 70’s that used to sit in old eel house catching eels and driving them up to London in the early hours. My dad and I were CAC members for years until we moved away. My mates and I used to love fishing at Winkton. Fabulous good healthy fish. Plenty of Chub on luncheon meat. Halcyon days.

Otters love ibsley pools and have taken most of tomkins, crow and efwards pools amazing carp and other species shame Christchurch angling don't come to some agreement with the somerly estate get it otter fenced and re stock it's a crying shame all the taken carp were truly epic and really didn't have a chance with the river Avon so close
Not a bad lake easy to fish good stock of carp my biggest so far 33.9 common but prefer spinnaker
