Welcome to S.I.C. Customs

Here we build and restore pretty much anything. We do things differently with our projects to make them just a bit more unique. All though they may not be the latest craze, there are fewer of our builds to find.

Where did you get those covers from ? There bad ass i need some 😅
Just a mock up for future metal fabrication. have to start somewhere.
Or you just happen to have that socket for some unknown reason 👀
That’s not a locking lug it’s a spline
Just curious on why tou didn't have the leaves reset or bought new leaves to lower the truck. Much more of a professional job IMHO.
Ever build i do has a budget. I wanted to keep thing close to factory as possible. The more you change, the more problems you will have to overcome.
Who sells this kit ?
Here's the link www.ebay.com/itm/282523809689
Did you ever test out your homemade traction set-up in sinister to see how it worked?
I'm getting close to driving the build. Wiring has been really slowing me down.
🤔 you could add a cantalever to that so when axle rotates back it pulls L bracket and pushes down on top of leaf just like a cal track if you are getting spring wrap and n wheel hop
Correct, I was thinking the same Forkrum idea.
Could you please tell us if you succeed to rebuild the millenia S supercharger?
Once I got the bearings out, there wasn't many options for replacement bearings and seals. I would have to modify the superchargers case to install alternative parts. I haven't got to that point yet with it.
Ok thank's for the update. Yours was doing bad bearing sound ? @@S.I.C.Customs
@@FabMeca bad seals
@@S.I.C.Customs so eating oil. I am surprised that you were not able to find bearing replacement and seals, it is not standard size that we can find on the internet ?
its a lil old but add 2 more leaf sprong straps to the front side of leaf springs
I have had others say the same thing with their druby cars. I asked if the made it rougher ride and they said "like a lumber wagon". Thinking on other options for now.
I just need those wheels
Do have in mind, I have a spindle delete kit in the front for those rims to work.
try flipping the springs upside down.
I believe that would just change the position of the current problem.
Yeah you are right that slapper bars on that low of a setup would have issues. Based on the amount of travel, this design may not have issues. But on a higher suspension travel setup, the panhard would bind up from the longitudinal support from the leaf springs, and the traction bars are too short causing bind up.
I would agree, higher suspension applications this wouldn't be ideal.
I'm curious bc Im thinking it will stop the spring bind and might not load the tire at all. In my opinion it will act more as an anti roll bar than like a cal trac.
Tackling one problem at a time on this. wheel hop with this HP engine has been an issue in the past. Granted the Cal trac would have fixed both issues, but I dont have the ground clearance i need to make it easy to get in and out of places.
It’s missing the rubber piece
Rubber piece where?
What’s up with the timing chain cover why is it so thick
GM LT1's have the distributor on the front timing chain cover (plastic black cover is the distributor).
Has the Opti-Spark distributor on it.
I'll give you a comment, that short block does more for me than any high hp, quickest EV ever could!
Cool project. Thanks for the motor mount tip, my son and I are just about to start one of these too. If you make the diff side of your traction device solid, it won't twist. Cheers.
Good to know, I will keep that in mind.
This is a goal of mine but on a 93 s10. I have a entire 96 z28 just parked.
🙏🇨🇺💪💪💪👍👍👍
I attempted something of a similar concept as a budget way to overcome axle wrap and wheel hop on my 302 ranger. It wound up pushing the pinion upward under load. Surprised I didn't break a driveshaft. Truck is four linked now. Solid axle tech has been around for like 100+ years. It's beeen figured out. No since reinventing the wheel.
Ford's wheel hop bad
I could just through money at it, but then what would I learn?
Bad hurt
It wont work at all. Way too much going wrong here to even ezplain. . Get rid of the lame 3" or 4" blocks, build or buy drop leafs, build or buy Caltracs and you will be way better off. Cheers!
I need the load capacity of the springs i got. I still tow with this truck. The point of all this is to still be able to use it as a daily and to have to look I desire. I did a 87 S-10 Blazer build with 5" rear drip with caltracs and got stuck in a lot of places.
Please tell me where you can order spare parts for the Lisholm compressor
Not sure what you are talking about.
Yeah although I can appreciate your work I not sure this setup will work. Please hear me out, the rod that is installed if I see it correctly is static. The center to center length of rod ends is not the same as center to center of the forward leafspring to the axle centerline. I think as the axle reacts to the load put on it some binding will occur. I believe you can achieve much better traction with C/T bars unless you are lowering past there limit. Suspensions are funny you need to take your entire setup into account, weight transfer, and other forms of influence for your particular vehicle. Again I do like your work, all the best Howard
Thanks for your time to respond. These are all eyelet 3rd links. This still is a work in progress. Trucks to low for most traction kits. I'm just kind of just getting ideas at this point. It will be next winter project. 😊
Just go get some Cal Tracs, theyre proven and work. What you've built is going to bind and break.
He has to much drop it'll hang down below the rim which is no good
Just what i was looking for. Ill be doing the same for the no name nationals drags. Thanks for sharing.
Interesting design, did you use rear parts from a tractor supply?
For the initial mockup yes, just to keep costs low until I figure out something that's for sure going to working. I did notice that I will have to make fulcrum on the other end of the shackle that connects to the front shackle just to get more downforce on Spring.
@@S.I.C.Customs So you basically want a caltrac type design?
@@highostablegarage similar but no under Leaf Spring Bar ran trying to fix clearance issues due to the lowering kit.
@@S.I.C.Customs they make an over spring version too, you might be able to copy their design for your fulcrum
Lets see how it works, Doesn't look like it will have enough leverage to keep the rear from twisting.
Cali in the Building, I jus restored a 87 & I Love it💯💯🍻
What kind of mount do you use on the motor to work the way it’s setup now
Its the s10 350 2 wheel motor mount kit from Jegs. www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/61810/10002/-1?gclid=CjwKCAiAhreNBhAYEiwAFGGKPAlUkKJ_ui2o13h3pI16RxB9G-BmzCfiyT32zEiBBSzQ4HCKPHgY0xoCc7EQAvD_BwE
If it's for sale let me know beautiful blazer
sorry sold this truck some years ago.
will not work, front half of the leaf spring wraps is what makes the traction. if your trying to gain traction, take that fat short bottom leaf and get wedges to increase pinion angle.
Not enough leverage on the rear end you will probably have to move the mount on the rear end to the top of the tube where it has more leverage on the pinion angle. Also I'm curious how the ride was When you took it out. I'm guessing it broke the bracket off the rear end. When the axel moves up and down the distance between the two points changes. That's why there's a swinging shackle on the ends of the springs. Your panhard bar is so short it's going to have a very short arch so you may have trouble there as well. Not sure you need it anyway since leaf sling suspensions aren't known for side to side movement or not that I'm aware of. Let me know how it goes because I'm doing something similar
What wheels are those?
1000 Miglia rims
Beautiful. I bought myself a 1993 Chevy S10 V6 4.3 Liter 4x4. For $200. Going to lift it and might swap the motor.
Nice buy bro
nice find
The pinion angle will change as the spring lengthens and the tie rod does not. I wonder how bad it will be? GoPro while testing would be nice to see.
Very good point, following this!👍
Mopar Perf. tried this rear suspension in the 70’s on their Pro Stock cars. Not much success.
I’m curious about this . I’m in a project with a s10 a8.8 swap. Well it has two long links on top of housing I want to use the for this very thing and was wondering how this would work.
Not sure, don't what diff you're talking about
What wheels are those?
1000 miglia aftermarket I believe. Got them off a 2010 bmw.
What's the drop
5" in the rear 2" in the front.
what are those adjustable rods called i cant think
panhard bar ? i think
i wanna make my own but cant think right now
"Panhand bar" is from the frame to the center of the diff.
@@S.I.C.Customs It's a panhard bar not a panhandle bar.
@@88vette35ify yeah autocorrect for the win lol.
I will make a video once finished.
How’d it go
Update please! Does it work?
Yes I want to know how it turned out. Seems pretty cool. Just wondering if it will actually work for a street/strip application
Your idea need to be seen!
I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada that's knocking. The knock goes away complely when you hit the gas while driving. It does sound like a low end knock. But the sound is in fact closer to the transmission. I've driven it 1,500 miles with this noise. It hasn't changed or gotten worse.
That is what I had experienced with mine. I found a heavy duty flywheel through Summit Racing for $99 well worth the money considering that would be the third flywheel I put in and haven't had any issues since. Good luck to you
What wheels are those thier bad ass
