It is very difficult for Catholics like myself and others who love the teachings of the Faith but not the way those in power (almost exclusively men) use it to exploit the faithful. The people in this documentary have valid things to say about their own personal experiences and they have a right to their opinion. The insensitive, intolerant, ignorant, uncharitable comments left here by our fellow Catholics is exactly what the makes the Catholic Church so abhorrent to so many people.

These are really great, appreciate the share, all authentic Irish History is welcomed. Simon Delaney, Host is excellent. . The Religious polarity was created by Henry VIII and the same level of Ideologies as the British Peerage continued to Foster it, as it keeps the Public distracted + killing each other off, while the elites profit. When minds awaken, the reality changes.

This Host is Priceless 7:43 Brian McKinney the 2nd Mercy, we Irish must have some titanium DNA + we have fortitude. No wonder we drank. Henry VIII, his Daughter Elizabeth, Cromwell ... (the British have mastered denial with Royals/Elite "Narcissist Personality Disorder"). Time to release the energies of the past that we now know gets passed on through DNA. There's a number of methods, Tapping Therapy is my recommendation.

This Host Narrator is most likeable, he could be my friend Brian McKenney's brother, and the personality is also dead-ringer. Amazing. This seems a few noches above Mainstream par. I can not trust the "Mainstream Academic" History Narrative. , The truths endure always and they are emerging now, will continue to, and they clatify + it feels so good to have them in the light.

This documentary is so in comparison with what is happening today to brown skinned people , if they are Muslim which they are not all Muslim some are Christian and other minorities, racism is a very very big worry and problem and the sooner people realise that we are all the same no matter what your race , religion or ethnicity is , the governments are to blame for it all they are the ones that divide our society and as always in our history the ones at the top be it rich or government don’t want to cease the divide in todays world and it’s so heartbreaking and sad to see it every single day

46:01 as an older Irish gay man, who is also a traditional Catholic, I have to agree with Sister’s comments here - it never ceases to amaze (and disgust) me how it was only the women of the Mother & Baby Homes and the Magdalene Laundries who were forced to carry the emotional load and guilt of what had been done to them by the men who made them pregnant, often by acts of rape and sexual assault before Marraige, where these men never faced any consequences for their actions nor ever took responsibility for same - I’d hazard a guess that the same system had effectively forced women from supposedly “good” Catholic homes regardless of suitability into religious life, because of the bishops being under pressure from political or other connections with families, the Irish State, the Irish church and from official Church teachings to place (unsuitable) women into positions of active ministry to vulnerable women, some of whom died while in the nuns care

  • @michaeljohndennis2231

40:51 without doubt, the Catholic Church in Ireland was doing good work, providing support that the Irish state should have been providing - and without doubt, the Catholic Church needed to have strong control of every aspect of Irish society via and in partnership with the Irish state for the best interests of the Irish people, however equally so, the true political and other motivations of those in the Irish state and the leadership of the Irish Catholic Church needs to be closely examined, equally just as much as those who make potentially false, libellous and slanderous allegations against the Catholic Church for their own financial, political or other gains - some of these allegations have been found to largely be without foundation and have been hotly disputed - and even if some of these were not found to be “outright lies” it points to certain infiltrations from outside church or state that were specifically designed to discredit and undermine the moral and teaching Athority and power of the Catholic Church in Irish society that we are sorely in need of once again

Why is it so. easy to feel sorry for the victims of tragic events many years after they happen without. doing anything about it at the time: Irish Famine (170 yrs); Holocaust (75 years). Will it take 50 - 100 years to regret that we in the Western world didn't do anything to alleviate the suffering of the innocent in Gaza. How pathetic we are as a species.

He is deceiving himself and others by stating that he "NEVER" agreed with the patriarchy or the " rules" that were handed down. If that were true, he entered the priesthood under false pretenses and lived a lie. Every Catholic knows that the RCC is a patriarchy, as are most major Christian religions. Some of us "cradle Catholics" have left the Church for that and other reasons: but we didn't become become priests or sisters if that was something with which we disagreed. He is dishonest to a fault.

I am left with deep sorrow for innocent people whose lives were destroyed by institutions and supported both by religious orders and the state. It strikes me that the religious have been left holding the baby, as it were, while the state now distances itself and demonizes them. @@sjdwise9330as a conservative minded older Irish gay man who is also a traditional Catholic, I strongly believe that the only way out of our current situation is an immediate return to traditional Catholic teachings and traditions while also rejecting the heresy of Vatican II - the institutional structures of the Catholic Church have been riddled with corruption via infiltration since the early 19th century if not earlier, which has led to many abuses of power in subsequent decades, but we must also make a clear distinction between this and the Catholic faith itself, carefully examining even the traditional teachings of the Church from this standpoint, being careful to not “throw the baby out with the bath-water”

The Nuns had a choice to share their frustrations in Society instead of taking out their frustrations on children and young people especially orphans and unmarried women. The depth of their evilness can not be forgiven. They have made a 'Holocaust' of the spirit of civilians and of God. The Turkish-Irish relations had begun with the remanding of an Irish merchant ship which was captured by pirates while cruising the Mediterranean Sea by the Ottoman Navy in the 16th century. Ireland suffered the Great Famine between 1845 and 1851 resulting in the loss of lives of around one million of the Irish population and causing another million to flee overseas. During the Famine, the Ottoman Sultan Abdülmecit provided 1.000 Pounds of financial aid to Ireland. Furthermore, the Ottoman Empire sent ships carrying grain and food to the island. It is known that the Ottoman ships departing Istanbul were not allowed to enter the Port of Dublin, and thus had to unload their cargo secretly at the Port of Drogheda, a town 70 km further north of Dublin ( In remembrance of the aid, a plaque was unveiled on 2 May 1995 on the building which served as the City Hall of the period, on the occasion of celebrating the 800th Anniversary of the historical Town of Drogheda and in commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Great Famine). Diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Ireland first started with an Exchange of Note Verbal in 1951. The Turkish Embassy in Dublin was opened on 10 December 1973, whereas the Irish Embassy in Ankara was opened in 1998. Türkiye is among top destinations for Irish tourists. In 2023, the number of Irisih tourists visiting Türkiye reached 158.962. In 2023, Turkish-Irish bilateral trade volume reached 2,09 billion USD. 4.700 Turkish citizens live in Ireland. About 800 Irish citizens inhabit in Türkiye.
