I rode the Nortown East and West trolley buses back in the 80s/ early 90s. I can't say those days were any happier than today, but when I look at old videos like this, I can't help but think of all the family I used to be able to see on that route. Thanks

It looks like Hamilton took the wrong turn in an alternate reality in one of the Back to the Future movies!!! Nothing but bums Crack and meth addicts downtown now, where's Doc and Marty McFly when ya need em ?

Well this is a small blast from the past. 🚌 I still have HSR trolley memories from the 60's. 🚎🚎🚎🚎 Wow some parts of the city have changed, while others still look the same. 😉😄 Ps: Really miss that beautiful Birks clock in the downtown.🥰 Glad the city at least got it working even if its only visible at the farmers market.

Growing up in Hamilton without a car, Me and my family heavily relied on the HSR. And even now, though the high floor stairbuses are gone and the great department stores such as Zellers and K mart are gone. The memories still live on.

Something I've always wondered about those trolley. Buses that run via the electrical cables. What would happen if the bus were to go off the track of those electric cables and the cables disconnected from the wires above? Would the bus still be able to drive?

Thanks for posting this, Michael. Brings back awesome childhood memories of riding these leased Edmonton trolley buses on 6A Bay with my mom when I was little circa 1992/93. Hard to believe that was three decades ago now! Do you have any TTC subway videos, preferably of the early Hawker-Siddeley, Montrealer or Gloucester trains? Or perhaps any Burlington, Oakville or Markham Transit bus videos from the 1990s?

From a drivers standpoint, where they harder to drive than a regular bus considering how you always need to be under the over head lines. How about when turning or at a junction?

i work at the garage at wentworth street, 330 wentworth north Aka 234 birch avenue, nice to see some of the older footage you have on your channel. theres a brand new bus garage going up very very soon at this location, not sure what will become of the old garage but i imagine theyll keep it here. rumour at work is the hsr will split their fleet between the 2200 upper james garage and the new one. theyve bought up all the properties nearby and have been constructing a dome for the salt to store in winter so they can tear the old one down, then construction of the main garage will begin.

1991 is when my ex-GF lived around Keele and Humberside. I’d jump on the trolley bus or walk it. Fun, to look back at Toronto when houses and rent was cheap. I bought a house in ‘95 in the Beach for under $220k.

I remember the original BRILL trolley buses that ran in this area. They included the Weston 89, Annette 4 and Junction 40 that crossed each other in some of these scenes. The buses seen here are the re-built models with the GM forward look bodies. TThe TTC needs to bring them back.
