The Metro Japan has more tone. I noticed the same thing with my Metro's JJ basses. The output is higher on the Japan model and the highs come in much earlier. The Germany Metro is more forgiving.

If you're covering Aram, you need a 4 string -- for proper reverberation and sustain.

with tone 100% moolon was just somewhat deeper. no tone, fender was softer and close to vintage sound. All so close and all sound good. Seems like some EQ could bring anyone of them to the sound you're looking for. Different strings would also be another factor.
