The two most soft-spoken men who ever lived in an interview… Carl Wilson and Whispering Bob Harris. If only they could have gotten Bob Ross to join them, it would’ve made for the most soothing interview of all time.

Interesting that he said that they didn't want to do anything else for awhile. They may hang tight for a couple of years. Assuming he was talking about recording another album, he was right!

Brian made the right choice appointing Carl as his vice regent. If things had been a little different, Carl could've composed a followup to Smile and taken over as the Genius. Or he could have been the perfect BL character.

The people running Capitol Records back then must have been the biggest bunch of idiots ever to walk the face of the earth. They are also the knuckleheads who bungled all of the Beatles albums releases. How anyone could listen to Pet Sounds and think it wouldn't be commercially successful is beyond me. Carl sings one of the most beautiful songs ever.

Why was Carl often licking his lips during interviews? Just a nervous habit? Something smokers do? It can't be that the room was dry, as I've noticed it in more than one interview.

Interesting to hear him mention how Brian used "cut and paste" techniques that are now very common with digital editing!

Capitol Records was bad for many artists---most notably the two "BEA" bands on the label---the Beatles and the Beach Boys. They made insane demands on some of their bands, like three albums a year, which for the most creative among us, is almost impossible. It's hard enough making ONE album a year, with all the touring necessary to support that one album, let alone THREE! And artistic freedom---forget about it! Captiol records was more about the $$$$ than any other label

Musicians really trusted this soft spoken guy. Carl was mature and experienced beyond his years. Too bad he’s gone.

I want to be part of whatever god of music Carl Wilson and Dennis Wilson and oldest brother Brian Wilson connect so divinely to. If there was a Carl Wilson Strain of legal-rec herb; I’d have that, what a groovy soul. Wisdom and light shines from his being, he was an angel that was able to protect Brian and secure that Brian shares his music to the following generation. Got to see the BeachBoys in the mid 90s with Carl while he was still alive which I’m so glad to have seen even as a kid without full knowledge of the band outside of tertiary awareness, as much as I respect ML and his contribution to the band, it really is hard to argue there is a proper beach boys band without a brother-Wilson present. My top 3 greatest live shows was seeing Brian Wilson and amazing band play the entirety of Pet Sounds in concert. I felt like I was in the presence of a modern Bach.

I don't mean to keep coming on here, but... I noticed Dennis dedicates this, as he says, "to my father, BOTH of them." Dennis always seemed to be spiritual and giving a lot of credit to God and blessing many fans... I noticed that when I would see him in concert, so I wonder, and I can be so wrong, who knows, but I wonder if he's meaning HIS "Father God?" I'd like to think so... It makes me love and respect him even more... 🙏💜

It doesn't take you very long to figure out, when Dennis starts to speak to the audience, just how special he was... And I don't mean special as in perfect and popular... He just had such a beautiful soul and he loved hard... anyone and everything. That was Dennis... He was so sensitive, caring, passionate and giving and strong, yet he wore his heart on his sleeve... There will never, ever be another Dennis Wilson, ever! Rest in Peace sweet Denny... your struggles are now over... Rest in Sweet Peace Our Surfer Boy... 🙏💜🏄🌴🎶
