M question is for the author, did the women you met in Heeramandi feel they had no choice but to join this trade, not the ones who were born into it but the poor desperate women with no previous family connections or education. My thought goes to the floods in 2021 that wiped out farms and entire villages in Pakistan. Did these women after relocating not have alternatives like domestic service in middle or upper middle class homes like many do in India especially in the big cities ? Has the state made education accessible or is it just not possible for them to be a part of the formal system ?

I worked with Jane on her early events for Charity Projects and Comic Relief, and she really is the most extraordinary person. Thank you Richard and Martin for this fascinating talk.

I so miss the Literati Club. I just finished Mrs., and this was so fun to watch and listen to the discussion about it. That was the wonderful thing about the Literati Book Club for the Adults the discussions, the Author interviews - as well as all the various clubs you could bounce around between month to month. I wish they would bring it back..
