Of course, as a tenant you should treat other people's property properly, there's no question about that. But it's not as if this house was high quality. For the landlord it is just a financial loss, which he will undoubtedly recover from the next tenants. I find the story that this house tells much worse - an overwhelmed family with children that is probably at the end of its tether financially, neglect, domestic violence. Forget the financial loss, these human fates are actually terrible.

It's dirty for sure, the floor was not installed by anyone using a measuring tape that's obvious. They had no respect for someone's else's property to be sure.

Gut the house & redo the interior.

Wow , Some people just don’t care about how they reck a beautiful home like this, we rent an apartment in Maine and I will honestly tell you, we are decent people and we don’t reck things we have been here since 2009 and we still live here , other places are incredibly high it’s crazy… I wish you luck Ma’am
