I call BS and I think that is why you have so little views. Stop being victims. Your battle today is no greater than any other. I don't hear Jewish people who were cremated alive still crying. They moved on. White people don't wake up saying thank god I am white. We need to get our child to school and get to work on time. If you are not white, stop talking about whites. In elementary school we celebrated Feb. black history month. What were you taught about other cultures. I will wait.

I don't know why this was recommended to me but it was interesting. I'm white English British and we recently had some race riots after 3 little white girls were murdered. As a father, after hearing about the murders I was filled with this strong emotion of wanting to protect my tribe and my children. I didn't join in with the riots but i can understand those who did. I felt a very strong identity of being a native Englishman which I don't usually think about. If we're attacked that identity is there.

Thank you for sharing, @chesterdonnelly1212 . Your story is very interesting because it parallels what we've heard from some of the Black Americans on our show... the idea that being harmed, killed, discriminated against, etc. as a group can create a motivation to identify and act collectively as a group. We're curious.. were the girls targeted because of their skin color? Thanks again for engaging... our show is focused on having open, honest, constructive, good-faith conversations about what can often be difficult and contentious topics. Your honest sharing is very much in line with that aim. So thank you.

@@healingrace3491 we don't know why they were targeted. They were stabbed at a summer dance camp. The police withheld the identity of the killer. Rumours were started that he was a Muslim illegal immigrant. Some people attacked mosques. Others attacked hotels that were housing illegal immigrants. There has been a lot of terrorism and crime from Muslims and illegals recently and this just sent people over the edge. The rioters have been mostly arrested and given long prison sentences. The killer hasn't been tried yet. He is a young black guy who grew up in England so not an immigrant in the way it was rumoured. A second generation immigrant with parents from Rwanda.

@@healingrace3491 @chesterdonnelly1212 I totally understand the feeling of wanting to protect your tribe (your family and, wider, the idea of a community and of course I can't ignore that race comes into this for a lot of people). This primal urge is precisely what far right agitators immediately sought to tap into before the facts were even known. Yes, they stooped that low, they used the horrific murder of little children to stir up xenophobia and islamophobia to get a cheap win. Just dreadful, any way you look at it.

But Black Americans never are going to get in the club. That is what he is saying. US Latinos are seeing that privilege as they become the 5th largest economy in the world. All of a sudden Latino European heritage is brought to the forefront. But Blatinos are still stopped at the door.

If not, what do you think led you to not feel identified with the community in ways that others do? Based on the conversations we've had with guests, some might ask if you would feel different, if you would have a stronger identity, if you felt you or your family were treated unequally or harmed in some way for being Hispanic? People have shared that group identity is often formed and strengthened by being targeted for that identity. What are your thoughts and experiences?

I think some black people do not understand white people. Black people think too much and too little of white people at the same time. White people do not look at other white people as a group. White people do jot relate ton other white people just because they are white. The problem is class the majority of white people or the average white person has a very similar experience to black people. It is the white people who have money and power against the rest of us normal people if you ask me. Those higher up white people put us against each other and everyone falls for it. I grew up in a lower class area mostly black as a white female. I have middle class family members that I obviously spent a lot of time with and the black family that helped raise me and guide me while my Grandpa was sick and my Mom was sick and all of my black friends families I spent time with were not much different from my family the lower class family members and the middle class family members. Then as I grew up I met a half sister I had who lives in a $500,000 home and I never felt more uncomfortable and judged in my life. The white people with too much money treated me just as bad as they would a black person.

That's where the meat on the bone is. What are the values of specific cultures, nationalities and religions. Values do matter, massively. Why do so many black women end up as single moms, often with multiple kids with multiple fathers, for example? It has nothing to do with race, but with values within the culture.

@@healingrace3491 By continually talking about Race you make it seem like it is important when it is not….to the overwhelming vast majority of people in the Western World. Systemic Racism was ended in the 20th Century by introducing new laws and improving education. Show me any laws, in any Western country, where one Race is advantaged over other Races? The only example I could give you is about Affirmative Action, where minorities are actually prioritized over the majority. Naïve policies that have actually had more negative effect than positive. Go watch or read anything by Thomas Sowell on this matter, he can articulate this far better then I can. It cannot be claimed that there exists systemic Racism today. When you look at many aspects of society where minorities are hugely over represented, such as sports, how can anyone even think there is pervasive Racism in society. People supporting and cheering on their team regardless of the team’s racial make up. People really don’t care about skin colour anymore. I have no doubt you could pick areas of society where Race can be a factor viewed negatively and then I could show examples where it clearly isn’t. Some still try to argue about Race in crime statistics and Police bias. Go watch or read Harvard professor Roland Fryer on “Race and Policing”, which completely debunks this myth. Keeping the Race discussion going is only giving people another reason to feel like a victim and making them feel hate. Talking about Race often distracts from the real reason(s) people are feeling bad about their lives. It is the easiest card to play, which helps people avoid tackling the harder issues that are really affecting their lives. Of course, there are benefits to those who still make money out of keeping Race an issue. They write books, make “educational” courses for schools and businesses and, of course, making Social Media videos. They are clever enough to know that the sins of the past are a great way to exploit lingering guilt. Why would they want that gravy train to end? Is there still Racism today? Go watch or read about Harvard professor Roland Fryer on “Race and Policing”, which completely debunks this. Yes……but in the Western World it is a tiny tiny minority, which is continuing to shrink. On the other hand, I travel extensively in my work and I have seen very overt Racism in North Africa, the Middle East and Asia. @@healingrace3491 No. Aggressive & disrespectful behavior doesn’t require provocation. As a Black kid who grew up in the suburbs, I didn’t start interacting with the police until my teens. During my initial interactions with them, I couldn’t be more docile. Before I thought the word of them. Long story short: I was in the hood. A fight broke out. Cops were called. My friends fled. I approached the cops in an attempt to prove to my friends they were harmless. I was approached aggressively & made to sit on the curb like a dog with a grown man’s crotch in my face. Violence doesn’t need to occur to categorize this as inexcusable behavior. Cops have assaulted & killed people for way less. McDonald’s employees have gotten fired for less. As for people who don’t believe Blacks are over policed? Look at Tyre Nichols. You don’t see gangs of cops jumping out of vans beating White people to death in White neighborhoods over nonexistent infractions.

@@healingrace3491 This is BaptizethePublic: I don’t mean to be blunt or for this to come off as rude. Killers don’t kill every person they encounter. Robbers don’t rob every person they encounter & rapists don’t rape every person they encounter. Police not harming everyone they interact with isn’t an accomplishment. This is about public safety. This is about civil & human rights. The image of law enforcement isn’t a public safety issue nor is it a civil or human rights issue. And the question was are Black people over policed, not if White people are subjected to police misconduct too. White people being mistreated or harmed by the police is an entirely different subject than White people being over policed. As I said, there aren’t hordes of cops jumping out of vans in White neighborhoods randomly roughing White kids up. If you wanna compare the police’s treatment of Black people versus their treatment of White people, forget the attention, it’s not White people who’s bearing the brunt of this. And for anyone who says more Whites are killed by cops than Blacks, that’s because Whites outnumber Blacks. There’s a higher percentage of people in the Black community who are on the receiving end of violence at the hands of the police.

it depends....i'll try to be short. My husband is lighter than myself. Most think he's from somewhere in the Middle East and greet him with the greeting of Islam. Others will assume he speaks spanish. I'm darker but not by much and yet no one assumes I'm anything but African American. Other blacks will hold a door or move to the side if we are walking in the same path. I've been with him and see guys play "chicken" to assert dominance and get him to move the the incorrect side of the sidewalk. In areas where he's welcomed warmly and treated with automatic human respect, mine follows once they see we are together. For lack of better words and to sum it up, for the people who deem some of us as "acceptable blacks" My husband would fall under that group no matter how he dressed. He can't even buy loose cigarettes because they assume he's a cop. For myself it honestly depends on how I'm dressed and the location that determines how others treat me any given situation.

This is complete ridiculousness! 1. When your grandparent or your great grandparent dies, you are not responsible for their debt. The law doesn’t come after you for unpaid bills that the great grandparent or grandparent incurred. That would be illegal. It comes out of their state if they had one. 2. You cannot inherit or lay claim to a great grandparent or a grandparent or even a parent for that matter property upon their death without a legal binding will. Upon their death the lawyers are required to issue a notice for any creditors who want to make a claim against the estate for the outstanding debts. Then usually you go through probate court & must have a judge’s approval. This are the current probate laws. So, how can someone make claims on a deceased relative”s alleged “debt owed” to them? There’s no legal contract. No will. Nothing in writing saying they’re owed “40 acres and a mule”. It’s all regurgitated rhetoric that’s a passive political stunt. Don’t be naive.
