I've never watched lily's videos but I think i would have turned off from it as she keeps referring to Rebecca Sugar as Becky so angrily.

Kinda crazy how lily critiques filler episodes so much while also being a fan of coming of age slice of like stories to the point that it seems like fucking hates when shows take a more story driven path

Whenever the "Why can't they just kill the Diamonds?!" argument comes up, I always wonder "How though". Steven may be a Diamond, but the others are more stronger than him and all his friends COMBINED. How do they even expect that to go other than Steven and his friends possibly dying in the process. This just proves that the idea is ineffective and everyone is just resorting to using violence as an awnser.

Most of these “criticisms” in the writing portion is just… Lily not understanding that it’s… a kids show. Steven is the main character, he’s supposed to be in the episodes. Filler episodes are good for world building. It’s allowed to be silly and immature sometimes. It’s allowed to cover heavy topics in a simplified way. It’s written for kids.

As someone raised by an insanely fatphobic mother, having Pink (An abused AuDHD Child) being "skinny" to reflect how she is abused (mentally, physically, and emotionally) and forced to be "skinny" (since gems are basically light projections and can look any way they want) because Diamonds must be "perfect" and then later, after she escapes her abuse and abusers, she lives a healthier life and that is reflected by a bigger body type! That is so important to me as someone who greatly struggles to put on any weight! And Lily making light of it and saying that visual storytelling like that is a problem seriously upsets me.

I watched SU for the first time in 2024, and I loved how complex it was. I genuinely didn’t understand the criticisms bc all that was said was that a lot of the gems were “toxic,” like YEAH, THATS THE POINT!!!! WE ARE MESSY BEINGS! THINGS GET UGLY SOMETIMES! SPINEL WAS A VICTIM BUT PROCEEDED TO HURT OTHERS! She’s not a saint, but that’s why she was so great to see! She even said so herself!

The Utena slander is what always gets me. One of the most critically acclaimed and influential shows in the last 30 years with hundreds of thousands (if not millions if we throw in all the youtubers who talk about it) of words worth of literature written on it explaining WHY it's a masterpiece. And Lily didn't get it on the first watch and therefore assumed it was bad, but one of the earliest things everybody learns about Utena is that NOBODY understands it on a first watch. That's part of the fun: unpacking the contents and piecing together the puzzle. Side note, I know she said it as a one-off joke, but if Utena was in Kingdom Hearts I would absolutely lose my shit in sheer joy.

I love how, thanks to how litigious Lily is about certain accusations, everytime she mentions abuse everyone just awkwardly tugs at the shirt collar and do a little knowing yikes.

Lily saying Mindful Education is one of the worst episodes when I'd argue it's one of the best is so strange to me. It acknowledges both Steven and Connie's trauma and strengthens their bond. It's very strange that Lily often claims certain characters never get any actual development and then complain when Steven Universe has episodes that focus on the development. I feel like what Lily wanted was a sci-fi fantasy about fighting and eventually killing the Diamonds and that's not what Steven Universe ever was. It was a kid's show that was primarily about peace, love, and dealing with your emotions.

Also, I wanna point something out about the KP/Lily call: KP SAYS SHE DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE ABOUT THE ALLEGATIONS MADE ABOUT LILY. She not once say she felt uncomfortable around *her*. She still trusted Lily up to that point, believing her & in giving her the benefit of the doubt as best as possible (perhaps, to give Lily the chance to finally be fucking honest for once in her life). And as she (KP) was trying to explain herself, Lily decided to cut her off and shortly after lambasted KP on Tumblr (saw that when it all went down, and that was before KP dropped her video on Lily). I had seen comments on KP's og video, from Lily Stan specifically saying Lily had every right, even tho they completely ignored what KP was trying to say. Honestly, I couldn't understand why, given KP has been transparent about everything in regards to the falling out where Lily hasn't. But rehearing that specific clip again - yeah, no. Lily is still in the wrong for that.

Just wanted to say congratulations on this video getting to 40,000 views within 3 weeks. It's really well done and I enjoy your SU response videos in general, especially the one discussing Bismuth where you point out that the theme is about punitive versus restorative justice, not "fighting always makes you as bad as the oppressor" (which unfortunately both people who agree with Lily AND people who disagree with her/like that theme think SU is about, missing both the main topic in the show and also removing all nuance from an actual real world conversation). I know you said this would be your last video on Lily, but if you make more videos on SU in general in the future, I'll definitely keep a look out
