Creamery Handwound Replacement '72 Tele Custom Pickup Set - Overdriven
Creamery Handwound '72 Tele Custom Pickup Set - Overdriven
The pickups in this demo are a calibrated set of my Vintage 2 (Broadcaster) and my Option 3 Upgrade to a modern Fender® Reissue Wide Range Humbucker. With this upgrade I take the new reissue Wide Range Humbucker and essentially replace the insides with a true-spec Classic '71 Wide Range Humbucker. You can read more about my Upgrades here:
www.at-the-creamery.co.uk/custom-handwound-pickups-from-the-creamery/wide-range-thinline-humbucker-replacements.html
and click on the 'UPGRADES' tab.
Creamery Handwound '72 Tele Custom Pickup Set
*and 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981 & reissue Tele Custom Guitars
My Creamery handwound pickups & sets for the 1972 Custom Telecaster (Custom '72 Tele) are direct drop replacements. Featuring a choice of handwound Bridge Pickups and my Classic '71 True Design Wide Range Humbuckers, I make them as a custom calibrated set so there's no real sudden volume jump when switching positions.
Creamery Custom Handwound Replacement '72 Custom Tele Pickups & Sets
Its one of my most popular sets and I usually make them as a custom order. I don't have pickups all boxed up ready to send out, each order is custom made which means I can make them to your own specifications if required.
Calibrated Replacement Tele Custom Pickup Set - Balanced for Volume across the positions
With the original pickups & reissue pickup sets often unbalanced, there can be sudden volume drops & jumps when switching between Bridge & Neck positions. I often make Tele Custom '72 Pickup Sets to offer calibrated volume levels for much more even switching.
True Design Wide Range Humbucker for the Neck Position
Unlike the modern reissue pickups, my replacement '72 Tele Custom neck position Wide Range Humbucker is true to the original '70s Seth Lover design with individual threaded magnets and internal ferrous reflector pates. Such a versatile pickup, it balances the warmth of a humbucker with the clarity & definition of a single-coil. The original design was more of a 'Doubled'Up' single coil rather than a humbucker; you can read about my true replica Classic '71 Wide Range Humbuckers here:
www.at-the-creamery.co.uk/custom-handwound-pickups-from-the-creamery/wide-range-thinline-humbucker-replacements.html
Balanced Bridge Position Pickup
With the bridge pickup of the '72 Custom Telecaster & Tele Custom reissue guitars often much lower in output, there can be somewhat of a sudden volume jump when switching through the positions. I often custom make a '72 Tele custom bridge position to counter this and be more balanced volume-wise. Whether it be a variation on my Vintage 1 Nocaster, Vintage 2 Broadcaster, Hot Alnico 5 or Alt-88 Tele Bridge Pickup I make the set calibrated to be more even, whilst still keeping to the characteristics of the classic Tele bridge.

    I can vouch for this model. Got an A4 one in my Tele's neck position and it's pretty darn tasty 👍 I went for the 4-conductor version so I could use a series/parallel switch with it. In series, the vid above says it all (allowing for the little differences that come from it being in a different guitar) - nice bit of paffy goodness! With the coils in parallel, it's not quite a true single-coil tone (and doesn't pretend to be), but sounds good in its own right and comes in handy when that general ballpark of sound and output is needed - bit brighter and more percussive than the series sound; more open with a dab less midrange and output, as if a mummy single coil and a daddy PAF 'loved each other very much and felt certain urges' 😉. (Doesn't put out any 50hz hum either, unlike a conventional coilsplit). Works pretty well if you need something a bit more 'single-coil-esque' now and then without having to swap guitars mid-song or whatever. Just my £0.02 🙂

  • @derekmok
    @derekmok 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very disappointed. Sorry, this doesn't sound good at all. Sounds stuffy and one-dimensional, like a guitar straight through a DI box. No air in the sound, muddy, I don't hear tubes and I don't hear the quality you get when you have an amp speaker (and I'm using studio-quality reference monitors to listen through, by the way). Maybe you used the wrong guitar, or you didn't do enough work on the post-production mix. My Gretsch G6118 straight into a Vox AC4TV beats this readily (no reverb available on the amp, either). I was considering your pickups instead of an intended TV Jones upgrade, but if your pickups sound like this, no thanks.

    Hi, I am thinking of switching out my fender blacktop tele pickups for something less boistrous. looking for something with more clarity so chords still sound great with a bit of overdrive. used to love my blacktop pickups but have since fallen in love with my single coils and want something that has single coil clarity with humbucker width.

    For the record, Creamery Swing-O's pair cost £150, Bare Knuckle covered humbuckers start at £220. Both makers are awesome, but Creamery gear isn't expensive.

  • @steveturpin2153
    @steveturpin2153 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Creamery Pickups are cheaper than Bare Knuckles and cheaper than mass produced stuff like Seymour Duncan's. I replaced my Les Paul pickups with custom Creamery humbuckers for about £40 less than using Gibson stock pickups. You get what you pay for, Jaime's work is just awesome.

    I've since tweaked the specs a little since this old video. As for price, I don;t use off-the-shelf parts - I make them myself or have them custom manufactured to my own specifications, hence the higher price. Plus each order is custom made to suit.

  • @atthecreamery
    @atthecreamery 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, I do - I make a humbucker with lower output for hollow-body guitars and make custom versions too. I don't have pickups all boxed up on the shelf ready to send out - each order is custom made so I can change the specifications to suit the individual player or guitar.

  • @CrankCase08
    @CrankCase08 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It would be so nice if some pickup manufacturer would produce a low-impedance humbucker for those of us that want bright, clean, punchy sounds with no mega-distortion, which would be great to use in the recording studio.

  • @CrankCase08
    @CrankCase08 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The impedances quoted above are different to the ones quoted on the Creamery website, which says 4.65k and 4.1k. A shame they are priced so ridiculously expensive though.
