Hi Kristin, I hope you don't mind me contacting you here, but I saw your video "Bunnies Building a Nest in Back Yard". SO cute. I wanted to share with you that I trust the judgement of animals and they seem to like you! :-) I also wanted to share with you that over the past several months I've fallen in love with the wild rabbits in my yard. I can now hand feed them, pet them, and lie down with them. My favourite experience was when my best buddie, Jaxie, breastfed her babies right in front of me! I quietly cried on as I watched, being the big suck I am. I'll never forget it. If you have the time, I highly recommend becoming pals with your rabbit - it's worth every second. My prayers to you and yours there in the midst of that terrible storm you're having. God bless and have a great day. Let me know how your bunny buddie did with their nest and thanks for sharing! 🙂

That's kind of you to say. We've had experiences like that with random critters, but just a few. A long time ago we had a squirrel, which we named "Sassy," that begged for us to handfeed her. (By waiting at the back patio glass door... startling us by appearing out of the blue, tapping our feet whenever we were outside... and eventually she discovered where we stashed the treats outside, so she learned how to unlatch the cabinet door as well as the lid to the storage bin. Lol!) After a while she brought her friend along, which we named "Samwise Gamgee." Samwise would take a treat from us, but he was much more cautious. ("Sassy" wasn't cautious at all). I need to transfer those old vhs videos and pics of "Sassy" to digital one day. It was pretty entertaining. Starting one very rainy, cold Easter Day we had to start caring for a bluebird fledgling. (It's on my TH-cam. Just search for "Fievel"). One day he flew off on his own, and we were so depressed and worried about him eating, etc. Luckily, he returned hours later, showing us how well he could fly. (From inside the house I heard his familiar call, as well as my mother when she was across the street at the neighbors. The sun was setting and he kept flying/landing on the apex of the roof of the house behind us. It felt like he was our child, letting us know that he was okay). That visit by him felt spiritual. It's hard to explain. As for the latest Backyard Bunnies, "Gretchen" and "Rags," I accidentally startled one of them the other day when walking toward the bird bath to refill. I think they're now learning to be cautious of humans because I only see them outside the fence now during the early evening. It was nice while it lasted, but I know from experience that I don't want them having any babies in the backyard or anything like that. We've had too many horror stories concerning babies in their nests around snakes and roadrunners. (I wouldn't trust the raccoons either). Even if I wanted to allow it, I couldn't because of our dog. I do speak to all the squirrels and bunnies I come across these days. The squirrels always run off or fuss at me, but the bunnies typically stick around from a safe distance. If only I could gain the trust of our feral cat! Now THAT would be something of note, not to mention it would be a good thing for her. (For her health. I can't give her medical attention at all. She only appears most nights and mornings, on our porch to be fed. The moment she sees me open the door, she flees a few feet and waits in the shadows for me to put down her food and return to the house). She does sleep on the porch sometimes, so I guess that's progress. Okay, I think I've rambled enough. Lol! Too much iced coffee tonight.

@@kristin-happytexan That's amazing! I just came in out of the pouring rain, soaking wet and having spent about an hour with Jaxie. I think that sometimes she just likes hanging out with me. It gives her a vacation from all of the stress in her life. Funny, I feel that she does the same for me too! 🙂 I (well, me and Jaxie) also have Charlie the chipmunk, who is becoming really brave. He eats out of my hand now. It's hilarious though, I feed him almonds (whole). He takes one, stuffs it into his cheek then keeps sniffing my hand looking for more! lol. Yesterday he tried to steal Jaxie's carrot piece while she was eating it! I had to say "No" firmly but not too loudly...I couldn't believe it. One day I thought Jaxie was going to kill Charlie, but now many mornings we all sit together in quite close proximity, the three of us. I need to get a video of that. I love them both, but I don't want to feed Charlie too much - he doesn't usually eat the food, but I suspect he's storing it and I don't want to get rodents getting into my house. I can't help it though, I have to feed him too. I'll watch him take an almond and bury it in a planter on my deck. Anyway, thanks for getting back to me. I believe all animals go to Heaven, so our journey together is eternal. I tell Jaxie that, and that all of our best times are ahead of us. You take care, Kristin, and thanks again.

Tragically, about an hour ago a roadrunner killed one of them. I was literally out there, checking on them, just a few minutes prior and after. I caught the roadrunner on the game cam, and it now knows where the others are. They say when a baby rabbit goes missing, the mother frantically searches for them for days and days. Mother Nature is Cruel.

I'm in Warda. (Just outside La Grange). I wish I was in Warrenton/Round Top though, but at least it's a close 20 minute drive from here. (Before moving here I've lived in Houston, Pearland, and the Spring/Woodlands area. When this house was being built we lived in Burton/Carmine, which I LOVED. We were renting a friend's old house on 42 acres. The house was a mess and the fields were overrun by critters, but the area itself was nice).

Thank You so much for the compliment. (I really didn't expect even one soul to see any of my Fall/Halloween Decor videos). I like the squirrel, too, which I also use at Christmastime. I know this was a really long video - all of them are ridiculously long actually - but it was a nice distraction for me at the time. They served their purpose, but I hope to do better next time.
