Urticaria (Hives) | Vet drugs
Urticaria, also known as hives, is a skin condition characterized by raised red skin welts. Urticaria is commonly caused by an allergic reaction. These swollen welts can appear anywhere on the body, including the face, lips, tongue, throat, and ears. The individual welts can vary in size from about 5 mm (1/4 inch) to several cm in diameter, and if there are a large number of welts, they can blend together. The hives are usually very itchy.

Paracetamol Toxicity In Cats | Vet drugs

Acetaminophen (Paracetamol), a common human drug used to control pain and fever, is poisonous to cats. Unfortunately, this is a relatively common poisoning due to owners trying to treat their cat's pain at home. Less commonly, cats may get into the owner's medication. Since cats are not able to efficiently metabolize acetaminophen, they are more vulnerable to toxicity. Cats develop toxicity at ...

Vestibular disease is when a cat suddenly develops incoordination, falling or circling to one side, involuntary darting of the eyes back and forth (nystagmus), a head tilt, and often nausea or vomiting. These clinical signs usually appear suddenly, often in less than an hour. The vestibular apparatus is in the inner ear and is responsible for maintaining our balance and sense of orientation and...

Acetaminophen(paracetamol) is a medication that is used to treat fever and/or pain in humans. Unfortunately, acetaminophen toxicity in cats is very common as cat owners attempt to treat their cats for pain without first consulting with a veterinarian. Cats face a greater risk from a single dose of acetaminophen given to them by their owners than dogs do. "Cats have a genetic deficiency that mak...

มุมมอง 3.2K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
In general cervical ventroflexion is seen in cats that have decreased nerve function or muscle strength to the neck musculature known as the cervical epaxials. Here are a few considerations for the cause of this interesting clinical sign. 1. Ischemic cervical myelopathy/spinal cord stroke. This is a relatively new discovery, being only described back in 2014 (Simpson et al). A loss of blood flo...

There are two variations of tetanus, localized and generalized. Because of their high resistance to the toxin released by the Clostridium tetani, cats are more likely to develop localized tetanus rather than generalized. Localized tetanus causes muscle spasms and stiffness in the muscle tissues near the puncture wound. Generalized tetanus, which is much more common in other animals than in cats...

Did you ever figure out the diagnosis?? My cats left pupil is big but the right is normal. I’m so scared and worried. I took her to the vet and they have no idea. All labs are normal. She does have feline herpes so they think it may be from that but they are not sure. Thank you so much!

The most effective way to prevent tetanus is to ensure that all wounds receive prompt veterinary treatment. Wounds should always be flushed thoroughly and treated with antibiotics. Don’t forget to Subscribe.
