How NOT to Cut Acrylic Sheet
It's been 2 years since I finished building my Arcade Cabinet and I STILL haven't finished editing the video for it. Life has gotten so busy and my hobbies have had to take a back seat.
I promised myself I'd take a few bites out of editing the video every week and I've made a lot of progress, but it's hard to whittle down 20+ hours of footage by yourself!
While I was editing I made the tough call to cut out some parts I thought were useful on their own and my failure cutting an acrylic sheet seemed like a good lesson for you all.
Remember it's easy to slip up and make mistakes when you're not being mindful!
The arcade video is coming along, hopefully I can push it out soon!

Making a Collectible Toy & Its Packaging

I've always thought it'd be fun to design my own line of collectibles, so I set out to make one. The whole process took 30 Hours. Modeling in Blender, 3D Printing, Sanding and painting for the figure itself. Vacuum forming a buck and cutting designing a custom box for the packaging. Lots can be improved for the next project but I think the results surpassed my expectations! Some of the Tools I ...

    Great little project! What's the exact motor assembly mechanism you used? Also how hard was mounting the motor / servo into it?

    • @AndyMakes
      @AndyMakes 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Darn I can't believe I didn't show that! When I hollowed out the inside I left a flat spot and I epoxied the servo to it. Those servos come with box enclosures so it's really easy to mount them any side. The servo came in Elegoo's Arduino starter kit, the manual says the model number for the servo is SG90.

      Thank you! I didn't use any fancy paints, just the standard craft paints that all the big box craft stores sell. The secret was applying the gloss top coat with an airbrush. For that I used Sargent Art Acrylic Gloss and Varnish

    what material did you use to print your mold before placing into vacuum former as PLA melts?

    • @AndyMakes
      @AndyMakes หลายเดือนก่อน

      I actually did use PLA, the vacuum from plastic cools off before it can soften the PLA. I did notice if I didn't wait a minute in between forms that the PLA started to get a little soft but never to the point of deforming.

    This is amazing! I’ve been thinking about making a vinyl toy business and since I already have people interested in the concepts and prototypes i’ve been printing, i’ve been wondering if it’s convenient to send my model to manufacturers online or get it 3D printed somewhere and finish it myself with my materials. My budget is really low ($500) and I can’t buy wholesale at the moment (Need 25pc at most)

    • @AndyMakes
      @AndyMakes ปีที่แล้ว

      With such a low amount needed and your budget, the 'manufacturing and having them take care of colors/finishes' route is probably not possible. I think the best way to stretch your budget is to find a makerspace that lets you use their printers that way you can focus on filaments and materials you might want for finishing it.
