Serge Stavila Soprano Sax "TearDrop" "Massive Attack" Instrumental Cover
It has been a good few years since I spoke to a friend of mine about an idea for a song, to make an instrumental cover for saxophone!
For one reason or another, I couldn’t put my finger on it…
but as a result of the current circumstances that we are all in right now, a lot of musicians/friends/colleagues are exploring possibilities to continue doing what we love doing the most, which is creating and playing music!
It just felt that this was the right time to put together our version of this incredible song and to complement the Chrystal voice of the original singer from “Massive Attack” Elizabeth Fraser, I chose the soprano sax, which I believe stays closer to her vocal range.
“TearDrop” has a special place in most peoples hearts, it is has been in mine! To me, that lyrical melody is full of ethnic Scottish/Irish melodics/ornamentations and evokes memories of my Balkan folklore.
The original soundtrack is a pure lament, accompanied by an extraordinary Electronic/Triphop band! We wanted to stay as close to the original sound as possible!
That wouldn’t be possible without a team of very talented and extremely motivated, enthusiastic musicians:
Colm Lindsay on Guitars, Bass,
Samples, Percussion.
Podge Kilbride - Keyboards,
Samples, Moog Synth Bass.
Jason Maleney - Drums, Samples.
Special thanks for
Putting all things together to
Paul Maher -

I like it. It doesn't quite "swing" but it's still pretty awesome.
notes please???
where did you get the sheet music!!?
very good player - but slow down a little - u r 1.5 bars too fast but apart from that very good :-)
where did you get your sheet music?? really nice, good job! (:
Hey that was pretty good for someone your age. I'm 18 and a jazz clarinetist. Work on your embouchure and technique more and you will be pretty good. Try to get some longer lines in your improvisations, using especially a lot of quavers. Keep it up! I'll try to get a video up in the next few months.
Great sound! Keep it up!!
You did a really good job. Maybe tonguing a little too much on some parts (I can't judge thou, I'm still basically a beginner.) Other then that, this sounds really good. Nice tone and good range in this song.
