The hose is laid to the farthest distance then connected to the distributor tractor which drags it back in the opposite direction. The second tractor with the big reel at the back pushes the hose around and into position preventing the hose being dragged. I'm guessing only 300-500 yards/ meters of hose is actually dragged...

OK... If each reel of hose was 1,000 ft and you needed 4,000 ft of hose to drag across a field, what would you do with the steel couplers?

@@farmerdrone I think you misunderstand my statement and maybe I was not clear. I saw a man moving a hose from one place to another by hand ..(4:18) the hose was not coupled to anything and he was dragging the coupler on the ground. The internal surfaces the internal surfaces of the coupler are susceptible to getting hit with rocks and dirt and preventing a good seal. If I was moving a hose from a one place to another by hand I would not drag the OPEN coupler on the ground. I would carry the coupler off the ground. I don't know how to be more clear than that. Once in the field and the couplers are connected.. latches are CLOSED and less susceptible to damage that prevents them from sealing properly. I was a fish and wildlife technician for 5 and 1/2 years. We stocked fish using large tanks on trucks and big hoses. We use similar couplers. And we were told not to drag them on the ground because it damages the couplers..

@@farmerdrone The dragging I'm talking about occurs at 4:18. Doesn't seem like dragging a coupler on the ground is good for it. But what do I know.

Hello Mr. Farmer. These farms I film are not giant mega farms. None of those around here! Just your typical Eastern Ontario farms. Why don't you just explain what you don't like and what you do with 5,000,000 litres of manure. I don't doubt all the farmers around here know as much as you do about farming so why not just use this site to explain your differences?

It's only polluted during harvesting, right?

@channel_machines I don't think they're polluted cuz they're totally natural and safe for both the soil and the environment cuz chemical fertilizers are devastating for soil as it ruins the soil

For sure ... a cow produces 2,000 gallons of milk annually and 12 TONS of manure! The milk is sold but the farmer spends 10's of thousands of dollars annually to have the manure removed

It was just a figure of speech indicating it was really full. As I indicated in my recent video "pump before it FREEZES", the lagoon is usually pumped out by now but a real late spring prevented the equipment from entering the fields. Tried to get the cows to quit pooping but that didn't work. So, the lagoon was filled as much as possible and a 90,000 gallon holding tank under the barns was used until the lagoon could be emptied.

@farmerdrone Oh I know I always take that figure of speech and try to imagine the real life scenario though. Like to get this tank to a point where 5 gallons would overflow everything would be a monumental feat of engineering and precision! Just where my mind goes :) very chill video, thanks 👍

Hi Rose Mary. I am not a farmer. I am an retired old fart who flew airplanes and now I fly drones over farmland. I took the personal challenge to try and reach what I thought was the impossible ... get the minimum numbers to qualify on TH-cam and get monetized. I wanted to say I made $1.00 on TH-cam. That took me 4 years, thousands of hours of post production editing and a lot of flying. Tell the young lad I describe what we are both doing is like rolling a snowball down a long long hill. It won't amount to much until one day it has picked up enough snow the momentum will keep it going and reach a point where it cannot stop!. Keep experimenting to see what your audience wants and get good at editing. I'm really small compared to many other TH-camrs out there but I am 15X bigger than I was this time last year. Although it is a hobby, I work at this 60 hours a week! Invite comments! Respond ... Follow your own style, don't copy others. Wear a mic ... Post a new video on a published schedule (10am every Friday for me) Good luck .. and .. yes ... I have Subscribed!!

I notice it when they initially harvest the headlands and have to blow the silage over their heads to the wagon immediately behind themselves. There's a lot of misses

the manure hardly dampens the ground ....and is cultivated into the top 4" of soil for fertilizer. nowhere near the water table ....

I do wonder too.... many are doing a little cash cropping as well as selling bull calves
