@@FIRSTLAST-xd6rn 😀😀
The most ridiculously expensive ( meaning not worth it) place full of status and content. Food is good , minuscule portions that remind you of samples. Really a lot of Public relation playing here. Not for me!..
@@AntonioRodriguez-no4er have you been there? This is just my experience so you should try yourself and form your own opinion
@ I have!... I will never go back or recommend it!..
@@AntonioRodriguez-no4er glad I am not the only one who didn't recommend it. I think if you are a chef or VIP or speak French, maybe it is a different experience. This video is not meant to disrespect them but to hopefully encourage them to bring up their standards and just let them know what common folk think. Cheers!
@@trophyfood The food was ok, its just that the prices are extreme!. My wife and I ordered very simple dishes, the one glass of wine I had was a house wine, not even a fancy one, desert was included. I left 360 euros plus tip. The thing is that the food had nothing amazing to it. I guess you are paying for the name!..
@@AntonioRodriguez-no4er yes, that is kinda my experience. Lots of pomp and circumstance, which I really enjoyed and huge dessert trolley which was visually stunning but each of the actual desserts was OK. Same with food...very good and visually stunning but in my opinion, not 2 star Michelin standard. Nothing notable at all about the food...I remember the visuals but not that actual taste of the food. For me, for really exceptional dishes, I still recall them years afterwards. I tried to present a balanced review: it is great as a bucket list thing to do and if you treat it like entertainment/show, then it is worth it. But if you are there for the food, there are plenty of restaurants in Lyon that present much better value for the quality. You won't get the same pomp and circumstance but some people don't enjoy this and at least for me, service was just OK (not overly friendly or attentive). Wine service was OK. I ordered 3 bottles of wine and at least compared to my recent experience in Switzerland 1 star Chat Botte & Prato Borni, wine list and wine service was far superior at those 2 restaurants. Maybe I had such a high expectation that they could not live up to it but I would basically not recommend because of the price...it is really expensive for what it is.....but that is why it is famous. Cheers!
I completely get your review. I only have a 1 star palate so going beyond is not worth it. Will continue to look out for your channel. ... Going to these places is like a show/performance. i never thought of that element. Seeing the footage in your episode makes me want to watch Ratatouille again. I think the colors of the PB building reminds me of that movie.
😀😀 By comparision, see my latest reviews of Prato Borni in Zermatt and Chat Botte in Geneva. Tremendous service and even at that, food is 1 star level. 2 star level has to be another level of food where you actually remember it for months afterwards. Cheers!
I enjoyed this review, dissolves some of mystique surrounding the place. I can see how it's an archetype or inspiration to all these places we see around the world (read yountville). If i ever go there, i will probably just walk around the building and book a place locals go eat. Thanks for effectively saving me hundreds of euro.
kangzau: don't get me wrong..it is a wonderful experience. Lots of bells and whistles but I was expecting something way beyond what I had experienced at other restaurants but I have actually have had better experience at quite a few 1-2 star restaurants. It is really neat to try something on the bucket list so I was thrilled to go but would I go again? Probably not. But I would recommend that everyone try it once as this is what good service and food looked like in the 1980s. I think if you are local and that is all you see, you treat it like the pinnacle of dining. Particularly if you are French and you know the brilliance of Mr. Bocuse. But if you travel around the world, you will actually find their food and service a bit outdated and stiff compared to other 1-2 Michelin star restaurants. Place is beautiful especially the courtyard. if you are chef or go with a VIP or regular, I sure they will lay on the good service thick. Cheers!
Wow, I can’t see paying that much for cocktails! 😮
patriot: I think that is going rate on the strip on Vegas...don't think it is expensive for LV strip. Cheers!
We were very pleasantly surprised by the dim sum quality in Vancouver when we visited there this summer. We really loved Western Lake Chinese Seafood Restaurant and would love to try Dynasty Seafood Restaurant when we visit Vancouver again.

Just went there yesterday at 10:30am. Excellent food and service. I counted seven servers working.

I'm taking a trip to Vegas soon. I saw your video on Wicked Spoon and plan on trying that out. Have you visited any of Gordan Ramsey's restaurants in Vegas that you would recommend? Thank you. Sometimes these celebrity chef restaurants can be really gimmicky and not worth the price at all.
firstlast: let me know what you think of Wicked Spoon. No, I haven't been to Gordon Ramsey restaurant for exactly that reason: I figure he would have a great high end restaurant but a chain restaurant? Not sure I would have high expectations. Cheers!
@@trophyfood I ended up trying out Wicked Spoon and it was great. I agree with your review of the place and it met my expectations. Great restaurant. I also did end up trying Gordan Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen in Vegas for the novelty of it. Haven't ever been to any of his restaurants. The experience was cool but the food was really poor quality. Not that I was expecting much but I was actually a bit surprised at how flavorless some of the dishes were. As in, it was clear the dishes were simply mass produced without much thought and attention going to crafting the induvial dishes. One of the people at our table ordered the beef wellington which was about the only redeemable dish, certainly not enough to carry the experience itself Thank you for the reviews. It helped guide my Vegas trip.
@@FIRSTLAST-xd6rn glad my experience was the same as your at Wicked Spoon and not surprising about Gordon Ramsey. Cheers!
Restaurants with tasting menus and wine pairings are also much better suited to Michelin reviewers who may be on their own or with just a few others. With a la carte menus, you need to be with a bigger group of people to try several dishes and wines. Chinese restaurants in particular may lend themselves better to larger groups. What do you think?
variance: thank you for your comment. I agree in part. I think Michelin has a certain criteria and I am sure the inspectors are very good as sticking to these criteria to judge restaurants. I think after eating a few dishes, an experienced inspector can probably tell pretty quickly the standard. Inspectors are supposed to do independent reports so whether they eat with one or many people should be irrelevant...I don't think they can share dishes. Chinese restaurants, at least top end, are still great for small groups of 2-4. Mott 32 and Iden are examples. Cheers!
Quenelle is a mousse enriched with a panade of white bread and milk. A Lyonnaise speciality .. You contradict yourself…. Crap review

Great review Tony. For a view that incredible, that's disappointing the service wasn't good. Food looks okay from the pictures. Seems like the experience here lies mostly with the view and outdoor atmosphere.
firstlast - yup...really too bad as the view is spectacular and you pair that with exceptional service and decent food and you have a really great restaurant. Cheers!
Sir you should understand not every restaurent is trying to invent new things i mean paul bocous did so it make sens that they keep the french tradition alive. If everyone start to do experiments what about the traditions? I mean most of the cuisine in the world who has stars are french , i can understand that what you were not expecting but i think they you should have researched a bit before dinning. But again i am not saying you are wrong what you have said.
bijoy: thank you for your fair comment. I did research the restaurant extensively and I still had a great, memorable time. But if I have to judge my meal critically, that is my conclusion: go there for the experience but I believe there a lot of other restaurants in France and more particularly in Lyon that have equal or better food. Tradition is great.. one of my favorite restaurants in town is a traditional steakhouse. Amigo is in Hong Kong is so traditional all waiters still wear tuxedos. I have upcoming reviews at Chat Botte and Prato Borni in Switzerland which are also traditional dining rooms. It is more that Paul Bocuse is somewhat living in the past and can't deal with modern demands. No longer are diners stuck to one good meal each year...people fly all around the world, eat all types of cuisine so it is so difficult to keep up standards of excellence. I found the service rigid and the food quality didn't have that little extra quality. But then again, I am not a critic or a chef and that is my point...I go to all these restaurants as a regular consumer and will get treated the same as everyone else...I don't get or ask for VIP treatment. I think the restaurant caters to many locals and star struck tourists like me. But the proof is in the pudding...in my opinion, the food is not at a 2 star level. You can always say I don't know what I talking about but I think it is important to know who is giving the review. I had done over 350 reviews on this channel in the same manner, including Michelin star restaurants in North America, Asia and Europe so I think I am pretty familiar what to expect and what is exceeds expectation. And also viewers know what I am talking about and can judge through my other reviews if they agree or disagree with my viewpoint. Again everyone has their point of view. I was still thrilled to go, had a great time and don't regret it at all. At least I personally experienced it so I can make some comment rather than just rely on other critics or TH-camrs, as they may have their own likes/dislikes. Cheers!
Sir you should understand that Michelin isn't a tour guide, it's a food guide
@@conradfield sorry, I don't quite understand the comment. Firstly, Michelin originally was set up as a road guide for the purposes of having people to use their cars more for travel so they can sell more tires. Only since the last few years has it actually made money....for many years, it was an adjunct to selling tires but now because they actually charge tourism boards for reviewing certain cities, they actually make money on the guide. But still very little compared to tire sales. I totally understand the guide is about food. What gave you the impression that I think it is a tour guide. I have a totally separate channel to deal with travel...everything on this channel about food. Cheers!
@trophyfood whoops my bad my last comment was directed towards @bijoybarua934 lol
@trophyfood my reply was facetiously directed at this bijoy guy not you haha
all overrated... more like a marketing machine now
Larry: are you talking about just the new addition or just the 1 star Michelin or all the restaurants they have listed in the guide? I think the word "overrated" is too general to understand what you are trying to convey. Remember that Michelin does not rate based on price (other than with Bib Gourmand) so they are not concerned about quality to price ratio like consumers. They are theoretically only concerned with quality so are you saying all 10 1 star Michelin restaurants are overrated in terms of quality? Which one have you visited and in your opinion, what would be an example in Vancouver of a restaurant that is not overrated? Cheers!
Agreed that it would have been great to see more Chinese restaurants get a Michelin nod, however I don't believe Michelin has come to Richmond which has the highest density of Chinese dining options. Most of these are casual and not considered fine dining, but Michelin has awarded one-stars on a similar basis in the past (e.g. hawker stalls).
kjw: Richmond is not included as they didn't pay the fee to Michelin to be included so only Vancouver restaurants are recommended by Michelin. Cheers!
nice hairline bro
funnyaf: that is kinda mean..obviously you are younger so when you get to my age and when people make fun of your hairline, you will know how I feel. If your point is upset me, then congratulations...you achieved your goal! BTW, do you have any views on my video? Let's turn this into something constructive...what do you think of the Michelin's newly included restaurants and have you been to any of them? Have a nice day. Cheers!

jtcber: oh that is too bad. I highly recommend The Dolar Shop for hot pot in Richmond. It is not AYCE either but their lunch special is more than enough. Check out my video on them. Cheers!
So a table of 2 people will have 2 pots? If yes, then I can go try with someone. Is there single table for 1 person?
jtcber: yes everyone get their own pot...so 1 person, 1 pot, 5 people, 5 pots. Yes, you can just go as a single. Cheers!

I do wonder if there's just a push by Michelin internally to get more Asian restaurants into their guide just to have more Asian restaurants.
bao: I think they for some reason prefer Japanese restaurants in Chinese restaurants. Chinese restaurant have great food but terrible service and wine lists. So if it really just about food, many more Chinese restaurants should make the cut. Cheers!
I kind of see this place as the Vietnamese version of what a Hong Kong style cafe would be. Serving both foods of their own culture as well as "their twist and take" of foods that the colonizers would eat.

The only issue i have is that you have contaminated the pot of fondue by eating off the skewer and then reintroducing the skewer to the pot.
@@BethLane-t7f ahh. In this situation, I was eating with my wife but good point. I guess you should take it off the skewer before you eat it? Or does the melted cheese kill the germs? The waiter never went through this point with me. Cheers!
Contaminated? He’s obviously eating with someone close to him that he knows is it that serious
