How far behind do you troll the hex lures?
Around 30 mtrs back mate.
New hair cut and channel name looking good 👌👍 I am not all surprised that much in the lures/ colour choices. Natural colours silver with black back you could throw anywhere in the world and hook up. I find for some reason pink with white is a really good colour. In deeper water pink turns black so i guess its just a 2 tone natural 😂. I personally love metal slugs they last for ever and are super durable. They are the best bang for buck for sure. It also allows a tinny profile a big rod can cast like a bullet.
I never comment on videos but just had to register my gratitude, I tried this today because I'd been frustrated with the hook up rate on circles, and with this hack the hook up rate was through the roof! It seemed so counter intuitive to have the hook point so tucked away so I was super sceptical, but wow it proved me wrong. I used this on a paternoster, not snelled, but it worked all the same. Thankyou!
Thank you for your comment, I am glad this hack helped you out fishing with circles. I like your idea to use with a traditional paternoster rig. I will do a video on that thanks.
awesome thanks
No problem!
Is this at The Spit? Didn't know fishing is allowed in there? There's the Spit rock wall for views, does casting allowed in there as well? cheers
Yes mate you can fish of the seaway walls. Good luck.
Thanks mate, just moved up from NSW and these videos have been invaluable. Much appreciated
No problem 👍
Good information and great video 👍 thanks for tips.
No problem 👍
👍👍👍👍👍 good info mate, what are sauries are they a local bait you can catch?
We usually buy Sauries from Asian grocery stores, and some tackle shops have them too. Good luck mate.
Hi Shannon I picked up a daiwa black today from Loganholme store with a price match to. Tight lines mate cheers
Nice mate. Good luck with your fishing adventures.
Hey mate, great vid,, I'm just starting for off shore, I'm interested in the 12th fathoms coordinate and the boats coordinates, I can't find them on your description
Here are the Gold Coast GPS marks mate. th-cam.com/video/di_SwjxMTas/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-caOayqwH_iCU3hb th-cam.com/video/WqFSY3nEFcE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wWc-uKWE5VxcrQNM Good luck with your fishing adventures.
Carp anglers in UK use similar technique but use heat shrink tube that fits over eye of hook .
Another helpful video to improve my fishing, thanks again Shannon
Great to hear!
Great content mate. I am impressed with this hack and see the potential in using it. Great work to you both. All the best from Moe town in Gippsland.
Much appreciated!
Fantastic story mate, PB will be hard to break
Yes it will
More stories Shannon cheers
More stories coming soon mate.
Thanks for the great advice, I will give it a go...
You are welcome and good luck.
Hi Shannon I looking at matching a rod to my Daiwa Saltist MQ 6000D I head out the seaway what would be your best thoughts. Cheers buddy tight lines mate
I need to know what type of fish do you want to catch and what depth. Thanks mate.
Cheers for getting back to me Mack’s and snapper & dollies running 30lb braid or is that to heavy the 30lbs cheers buddy
Depth around 30-40
@@nikolasperisteridis222 30lb is a good all-round size line for the species you want to chase. The rod I would look for is a PE 2-3 jig rod to suit that reel and line. It will handle the species you want to chase with ease + you could use it for jigging, trolling and live baiting for a lot of other species. Good luck mate
I all ways try purchase the straight eye hooks because a uni knot going through 2x at the start (don't let them cross over each other). I find snell knots way weaker in strength. The easy snell is the stronger of the snell knots in my tests. I have used lumo to prevent the hook eye from cutting the line (different than you shown). But the easy snell comes undone easy and i only use it in a 2 hook rig. I find to prevent undersize fish hookups i size up the hook. As you would know we are plagued by little pinkies in port philip bay. Hooks with a layed back eye are called octopus. Hooks with the twist are suicide. A circle hook with a suicide twist will gut hook and defeats the purpose of being a circle to help protect the fish. What circle hook are you holding in the video? It has a nice long shank and straight eye. I have been using mustad demon but the shank is rather short and i like flashabou with lumo glue on my shank.
You have some interesting ideas mate, maybe you should start your own TH-cam channel. I wish you luck.
I been using gamakatsu octopus circles and owner mutu light circle for years, both have a twist and I can't recall ever having a gut hook.
@-Scotty i should rephrase that, has the potential to gut hook. Put some line on a hook Drag the hook with the twist down into your palm. If the hook catches your skin thats the equilivant of havi g the possibility to gut hook. A circle is designed to not gut hook but a suicide twist increases that chance. I use normal J hooks with a suicde and a straight circles. I have had both gut hook before.
@@Side85Winder wasn't looking for argument mate just saying how it is for me and my experience with fishing for well over 40 years, will certainly keep your experience in mind and if I ever get a guthook, Ill bloody say to myself, Sidewinder told me so! Tight lines mate.
Mate what a great set up, I’m a beginner so every bit of advice is helps ! Still haven’t landed my snapper hey 😅
Glad it helped
Thanks!
Very much appreciated mate.
Thank you - Brisbane based. Own a 550-side console Trialcraft. Bribie cape Moreton and beyond.. Appreciate your pointers. What boat style do you reckon gives a good ride off the coast. Looking to upgrade . Thanks Again
Thanks mate. Plenty of good boat brands out there. The ones I found to be a good ride and safe are, Quintrex Renegade, Old Haines Hunter, Surtees and Bonito boats. Good luck buddy.
Thank you bro
Any time
❤ fantastic information. 👏
Glad it was helpful!
Nice your video
Someone who talks sense and isn't trying to sell ya stuff. Thanks
Thanks mate
Hi Shannon i am from Bris,Northside mate ,to help with mullet for bait is there an area you could suggest to start cast netting. would be a big help. Cheers mate
Mullet are getting harder to catch around the Gold Coast. My favourite spot is up behind Southport in a small creek called Loders Creek, You will usually find a few Mullet up the back end sitting in the deeper holes. Good Luck mate.
Great breakdown of gear and its application depending on species and the situation.
Thank you mate.
Allways informative and useful information. thank you
Glad it was helpful!
gday fella........... great subscriptions youve got ! i owe ya a pizza
Thank you kindly
Well done, great video !
Thanks mate, Glad you liked it.
Cool story mate & would be a great memory. Yeah I'd be interested in some your exploits. I will consider putting in a story as i have fished for near 60 years & my family have been pro fisherman & boat builders on lake Mac since 1880"s.
Sounds good
Good story mate! Loved listening to it
Thanks for listening
Awesome story! I would love to hear more of them.
Coming soon!
You're a legend Shannon , I got my kayak nearly ready fish finder water snake and all I love in Labrador I'll just walk it down 😝👀🔥🏆 I've been chasing trevallys in the canals land based for ages and it's gone quite now I'm upping my game ❤
Thanks mate and good luck with your fishing adventures.
Late to this vid but any issue swapping to single hooks? I really dislike trebles
Running singles on these lures is fine mate, it won't interfere with the action at all and is much better if you are planning on releasing the fish.
Hey Shannon, thanks for the great videos. Caught some solid snapper and by catch tuskies through your videos. do you ever find that using your patenoster rigs that the meter of leader that goes to the hook gets wrapped around the main line? Thanks!
Its great to here some of the vids are helping, that rig does tangle if you drop it to the bottom fast, use a slow steady drop and the rig won't tangle. Good luck with your fishing adventures mate.
These videos are gold, Shannon these riggs are for landbase fishing or boats, as when the rig is unweighted do not get a good distance casting it out.
Thanks mate, You can use the rigs from a boat or land. If you are fishing from land I would use these rigs where the water is deep. Rock ledges, Jettys, Bridges, etc. These rigs work best if they can slowly sink down through the water column. Good luck mate.
The bilge pump is important. Great tinny. I'm not an expert but have been to sea a few times. If you think that boat is small take a 12 footer out. 😂 When water is lapping a couple of inches from the side, it is really nerve wracking.
I remember back in the 80's over on Fraser Is it was not uncommon to find a gutter & catch Dart 2 at a time, I still have photos, I must have been about 12, arh the good old days & I also remember catching those bloody sand worms, now that was a special skill, great video by the way, cheers.
