Hi! Yes, it was hinted that the wife murdered her husband, either out of paranoia or pity. Some parts of the story are unclear because it's told from the wife's point of view who was mental challenged.

Oh, it wasn’t a mistake... The first part was a flashback set a century ago when Malachai was still an apprentice sorcerer. In the story, a brown eye spoke to him, foretelling that he would save the realm by destroying the blue eye. In the present, Malachai has become an evil sorcerer, intent on destroying Alistair’s blue eye by using dark magic. If I'm being honest I would love to continue the story on why the brown eye went back to the past to spoke to Malachai... hope that clears it up 😅
