Love it, man. I was there. I made every Thunder airshow except for 1994. Saw my first Tomcat demo in 1999 at Dayton Airshow. What an experience.
Haha
Yea Whatever...
Almost had em a bird strike at about 9:30
Hearing him calling out the speed in Mach was boss! “87, nine-oh, 9 one , 9 one”!’
What was that at around 9:32 ?
Is that a Black Knights flight helmet I see?? I was on the Kitty Hawk 2000-2002 when we had VF-154 onboard. BKR!
By far the best demo I’ve ever seen F-14 at Anniston AL 1994…. Found out years later it was “Snort” flying the show.. incredible.
Saw him in Pensacola a few times in the 80’s.
Amazing crew coordination right there folks!!
Is that a "D" ?
Ok... of all things, I'll gladly pay more in taxes to have the F-14EX.... Keep them flying with new tech!!!
Still the best demo ! I miss the mighty Tom Cat !
I love the Tomcat. Watching those wings sweep is really cool and the footage is great.
Good comms and great teamwork. He was gaining that much speed on the roll, I thought he was going unrestricted on the climb.
The tower told him to maintain 3000’. Were you not listening.
@@mikefromflorida8357 I might not have heard it. I am damn near deaf in my right ear.
He was also told to maintain runway heading, but started a left turn for some reason
It's sad kids today will not get to experience the roar of the Tomcat's engines in the demo the way I did as a kid, there is nothing that compares to it!
A couple of times something dark streaks by the cockpit. Lucky no bird strikes happened.
He said, "Turning that F#cker off!" He was referring to the radar altimeter warning... Cause it's annoying!
The best !!!!! F/14 tomcat ❤ so sad they retired this powerful jet!!
Lot of loose objects in the cockpit...
Must be the rio in camera..
オ~~懐かしき、ブラッナイツ❣
i was at this show as i was every year, i was on our boat. i had no idea at the time this was the last time i'd hear that mighty roar. now the -14 is gone along with our beloved airshow.
I can’t describe how jealous I am you got to actually witness this bird in person. Who ever was on that pontoon or whatever at 13:35 got a hell of a view, couldn’t imagine how awesome it would be to have been on that boat and seen it going that fast that low. Truly Star Wars on Earth and we are able to witness it, imagine showing someone that from 1800s.
@@tyberious3023 i live in RI so i got to see it every year it was here. the f-15 wasnt to shabby either for raw noise and power. the f-16 and 18 were are kinda wimpy in comparison.
The Tomcat was such a crowd pleaser. Big, bad, fast and LOUD! It had a deep dark rumble you felt in the chest. And is there a sexier looking jet? Blackbird maybe. I miss seeing this thing at airshows. Wish they could keep just one flying.
They could have kept a few squadrons of F14 D's around.
I used to love the Quonset show. They canceled it indefinitely a couple years back.
I was born too late to ever witness a Tomcat flying...
I was at this show… I drove down from Boston , where I was doing my medical residency. The best demo I’ve ever seen!!
Was also at this show. I wish I my kids could witness this. Can't believe will never see it fly again.
Absolutely PERFECT demonstration flying. As a CFII myself I get flak from other CFIs... "why do you make your suddents go right to the edge of the runway before turning to line up for TO." I keep telling them, "any RWY behind you is useless," I always teach "use every inch of the rwy." Another one I teach is calling outloud A/S on TO roll, and ALT and A/S while in the air, during flight such as entering the pattern, etc, I have other CFIs say, "you talk too much" all I can go is SMDH.... On here Rocco did a low transition short-field take off high AOA on initial climbout, followed by pitching down to keep the nose on horizon during normal climbout. Everything was textbook. Excellent video. I always tell my students, "it doesn't matter if you fly a c172, Piper, B737, or f-14, flying is flying and if its down correctly its all the same."
Omg that was hilarious. Pilot at the end in fron of the crowd goes. I just saw boobs. Rio says your lieing lmao.
5:09 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
2:39 *watch those wings move!!!* 😁😁😁😁
2:30 *yeah WHATEVER!!! #SayWhat??????????????
I don't doubt he saw boobs, Tomcat guys baby!
One lost, one found.
That must have been a lot of fun.
I was on Enterprise at this time and we lost our Tomcats to retirement early in 2004 when we got back from deployment. Knowing that their time was coming to an end, I tried to take as many photos as I could, but real film at the time limited what I could get. It's funny to think today I have more pictures of nonsense on my phone than what I got of flight ops and the ship in 6 years (though at the time it felt like a lot). I did make it to the final Oceana show and got awesome photos of the group flybys and the retro paint schemes, which I loved.
I was on the enterprise from 95 -99
28:17 *NEGATIVE GHOSTRIDER, THE PATTERN IS FULL!!!*
6:33 😆😆😆😆😆😆
19 25. And 18 40 time on the video🤔
F14 was a service nightmare
that beeping is killin me
what Squadron was this footage from
Tomcatters VF-31
anybody else think this is a f18?
😆 No.
@@THE-BUNKEN-DRUM that HUD looks like an f-18....maybe this is the D model? its a tomcat, i stand corrected
That’s an D model HUD for sure. What tripped me up for a second is that the pilots helmet markings are from VF-154 Black Knights, and that unite only flew the A model while they were an F-14 squadron.
Negative.. pretty much just you bud.
@@doctorbrown2313its a d-model hud....so i am right, you are wrong , jarhead bud dork
I was probably at this show. Been going there ever since I was a kid. I live in mass and have been to every airshow there for probably almost 20 years.
Yup, me too. I grew up on the island of Jamestown and my house is under the normal flight path of the jets just to the south of the primary runway. I used to see Navy F-4 Phantoms jets flying over my house during the Vietnam War.
@@AJFar-tm7dn o wow. That's awesome. The sound of freedom right there
Great! Some of the best, highest quality Tomcat footage!
i was at this airshow. went to quonset every year for probably 15 years.
I'm from Rhody. I've been going to airshows at Quonset since the early 1970s. The Navy F-4 Phantom is my favorite fighter jet. Fly Navy!
Me to been going there since late 80s when my parents took me. This show was a year after they passed. Video just gave me the chills.
Looks like Ft Lauderdale at the end. Would be nice to see more. Thanks!
What a ride it must have been. I never saw a demo 😔.
It was like seeing something out of Star Wars. Completely unreal
Miss the big cat!!
Very nice cockpit views. The camera shot directly back at the RIO gives a unique perspective of the motion of the wings while sweeping forwards and backwards. The F-14 was the only operational aircraft that swept its wings automatically using its CADC (Central Air Data Computer) to command the optimum positions for the wings. The wings move at a rate of 7.5º/second when loaded at 1g. With the jet loaded at 7.5 g, the wings sweep at 4º/second. This compares to the F-111 family which sweeps its wings at a rate of 3.5º/second and ONLY while the jet is loaded at 1 g and they only sweep when directly commanded to do so by the pilot. We can tell that this aircraft is an F-14 D because the facecurtain ejection handle(yellow/black rope) is no longer above the crewmembers helmet, the only ejection handle is located in the crotch area. F-14A/A+/B use/used the Martin Baker Mk-7 ejection seat, with BOTH facecurtain AND crotch ejection initiation handles. the F-14D and only the D uses the newer Martin-Baker-Mk-14 Naval Aircrew Common Ejection Seats (NACES) ejection seat and as you can see in this video, there is no black/yellow rope located above and behind the RADAR Intercept Officer(RIO's) head/helmet.
Great video.
