Wow, what beautiful music. More violinists should jump into the world of improvisation, excellent instrument and so expressive
Paul, I always remember the day you told me what had happened as you prepared to leave for Dallas. I am so sorry for your loss. May God be with Martin, you and all of your family. Wishing all of you the best as you continue to move forward.
Ouch !!! I didn’t know Carmen got hurt. Thanks for this video. I’m sorry I didn’t see it sooner. You both have a beautiful home. Carmen’s return to the city where she spent her childhood is a story in itself. Thanks Paul. Will see you soon 🇲🇽👍
Thanks, Chris. Dr. Maya, at the Ajijic Hospital did an excellent job of fixing her up.
I walk those same streets on my way to and from the Malecon in the evening. The funeral marches go right by my house... Love Mexico
Thanks for sharing. I walk to the malecón almost daily.
Thanks again for this updated coverage of this traditional Mexican neighborhood and other beautiful footage you both have provided. It’s nice to have another video to experience. Will talk again soon. 👍👍👍👍🇲🇽
Hi Chris. Thanks for visiting. It certainly is an interesting and colorful experience, walking through Ajijic and surroundings. 😃
Nice pictures and traditional music!😊
Thanks, David. Good to hear from you.
Nice pics and music! Is the lake coming back at all, I heard that it was in the healing process?
Hi Carl. Thanks for commenting. Lake Chapala is not where it was when my wife was growing up here, 45 years ago. Until federal, state, and municipal governments make a concerted effort, it probably never will be. However, I think that most opinions about the condition of the lake are more emotional and political than scientific. Unfortunately, I'm only qualified to base my opinions on emotion, so I'll leave it to the camera to do the talking. 🙃😊
May all our loved ones that have passed are resting in peace. Beautiful they are nicely decorated. Blessings
Yes! beautiful sentiment.

Nice work, Paul!
Thanks, David!
Awesome, Paul!
Love the candid shots of Scott playing the guitar. I assume at the decibel level of your DJ’s music earplugs are not much help… Cheers
Thanks Paul and Carmen. Beautiful coverage
Now that you have a car, we'll probably never see you around the Ajijic plaza!!
Yes. You most certainly will You past me just the other day , walked by and said hello. 👍
Very nice, I use to live La Floresta I move when 2 Object behind my neighbor's house.🔷🔷
Thanks for comment and viewing
is it handicap friendly?
To be honest, that is not something that I paid particular attention to. The actual market place is bellow ground, and the front entrance does have a long ramp, but I didn't notice if there were any steps or hard to navigate areas for a wheelchair. However, the side entrance is on ground level and used as the exit. It is adjacent to the parking lot. I didn't notice if there was a doorsill, but I don't think it would be very high, if it exists. Once you are on the market floor, there are no obstacles that I remember. I will try to go, next week, and take a few photos of the entrances, for you.
I just came back from the market. While the front entrance has a ramp, it also has several steps. It would not be wheelchair accessible. In fact, it is pretty steep and might be a challenge for a walker or even a cane. However, the entrance from the parking lot (left side when facing the building) is completely flat, and should not present any difficulty. If you'd like me to send some photos, email me from the About page. I hope this helps.
building in Chapala Haciendas. Ajijic got too expensive. and the land was already there. still in obra. not retiring until another 10 years. but we visit every summer. husband's home town, Ajijic.
what's the approximate cost to build a house like that? around 100k?
Kyle -- I talk more about that here. th-cam.com/video/W-WtsdWEJFA/w-d-xo.html Remember, we built from Oct 2018 to Oct 2019.
@@paulcarmenmovetomexico6922 ah great I will give this a watch! It's just so hard to figure stuff in Mexico out I didn't mean to be rude, hopefully, it did not come off that way ;)
No problem! It took us some time to figure out an appropriate budget.
amazing pictur,take care-man-😉
Thanks 👍. I appreciate it.
Can't wait to start building our home .. just I don't even know how to even start the design lol
Where are you planning to build. If you speak Spanish, I can give you the contact info for the person we used -- she is both the arg. and the master builder.
@@paulcarmenmovetomexico6922 we aren't sure yet. My husband is going to be deported so we will have to look at different areas.
Well, you certainly have a wide area to choose from. Suerte!
Nice!
Thanks, Scott!
🤩 what Is and Where did you get that Música? I pray she has healed well.
Hey Rick -- yes, she is doing well. Thanks. I caught her lifting a table, yesterday. As for the music, there are credits at the end of every video. For this one, it's at about minute 3:38. Thanks for watching.
I loved your narration of the pics.
Thanks, RIck -- It's a lot easier to take them than to talk about them, I think!
@@paulcarmenmovetomexico6922 I totally understand. 😏
Enjoyed the scenes,
Thanks for watching, Rick!
Thank you for the Beautiful Scenery
Glad you enjoyed it
Paul, it was nice meeting Carmen and you last week. Sorry for scaring Carmen! If you’d like to connect, I’m on Facebook.
Very nicely done! ¡Bienvenidos!
Gracias!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey! I am subscribing! Would you recommend making the trip from Tucson as a single woman? Cheers 🥳
We had no difficulties. At many toll booths, there are restrooms and snack bars. You might want to stop at those that have several cars, and families, rather than just trucks -- but that is probably more for your feeling comfortable and not based on any actual data. While I did drive at night, from Mazatlan to Ajijic, I probably wouldn't recommend to that any single driver. Stay on toll roads -- 15D -- and you will be fine. Enjoy your trip!
Great photos- enjoyed the video! coming to Ajijic in July and looking forward to visiting this beautiful town.
Thanks for watching. If I can answer any questions, feel free ask.
OK first i love the design of your house, second the map shows an excellent view of the travel, third wow that's was a long drive, 4th i am a new subscriber ❤
Thank you and welcome to the channel.
American Trash food no bloody thanks.
No one was asking you to eat any food. It was simply a walking tour of a village where many foreigners visit -- some of whom enjoy what that locally owned restaurant offers. Thanks for watching.
Leave your toxic energy in the west..
Excellent photos sir. I'm here as well.
Hi John. Thanks for the nice comment. Maybe we'll run into each other.
This is what you don't hear about Chapala Lake and Ajijic. The cost of housing in this area of Jalisco is expensive! !! Why you ask? Because the U.S. and Canadian citizens retire in this area. Mexican residents can not afford housing in the Chapala Lake area because of some many expats buying up Land and housing.
David, thanks for commenting. There is some truth to what you say. "Gentrification" has pros and cons, whether in urban renewal projects in major cities to the north, or small towns in Mexico. I have not verified it, but, I recntly heard that tourism bring the equivalent of about $500,000,000USD to the 20 mile stretch along the north shore of Lake Chapala, annually. That money does not go into the pockets of retired expats. While it is easy to recognize Canadians and retirees from the US, come on the weekends. The streets, restaurants and malecons in the area are packed with people from Guadalajara, who are getting out of the city for a few days. Many tapitios own homes in the lakeside area. Certainly, there are differing opinions, but the tourist pesos create jobs for many locals. They also support many small businesses. When we built our small house, we kept various construction workers employed for about nine months. On our block, we have about 15 househods, and all of them are Mexican, so local people are buying/building homes. As for your opening statement, "what you don't hear", we actually do hear that, quite a lot. It is not a secret and it is basic economics that is see around the globe. Again, thanks for takng the time to watch and comment.
It is kind. For years I have worn a mask while while cleaning, when pollen count is high or air quality is poor. NBD. Beautiful walk thanks for the update and sharing.
Gracias, Maria.
Being kind is good:) Thanks for posting about this bakery we just got a place in Ajijic and we have been wanting to find a bakery. The area around it sounds like a great place to explore:)
Yes, the westside of Ajijic had a number of really good restaurants. The French Bakery has a nice patio. If you want a basic bakery (not a café and good but not fancy), try Panadería de Chelís on Ocampo, near Seis Esquinas. Welcome to Ajijic!
Nice !!!!
Thanks!!
Hola. I love the way you put the camera marker pop up’s and then show here you are with a picture of the area. Helps put things in perspective. I was wondering if you could say a little bit about what was required to get Casper acroSs the border driving in your car. Hope Carmen heals easily. Gracias. Elizabeth
Elizabeth, no one ask anything about Casper. I read that a previous requirement for an international health certificate was no longer necessary. I did have a current rabies certificate and county license, but nothing else. Carmen goes to the doctor tomorrow (whoops, today). They remove the existing cast and then decide if she still needs to wear one. I was mistaken -- she broke her wrist, not her arm. Thanks for the good wishes.
Thanks! Enjoyed it. I love that sculpture of the fishermen hauling in their nets. Can't wait to see it in person. Music had me bouncing around. 🙏🏽#Mexico2023
Gracias, Maria. Are you planning on visiting the area?

Belated Happy Birthday, Carmen!
Thanks Pat!
Enjoy your talks and walks. The drinks looked delicious!
I'll buy you one when you come to visit. :)
Me gustaria conocer a este amigo
What kind of paperwork did you have for Casper so he could cross the border. I have heard so many different answers. Any officials place to look? I have heard driving is much more lenient than flying. I also have one cat that will be in the car. I have been enjoying especially the maps you put up on your driving trip down and the walking diagrams. Elizabeth
Hi Elizabeth. I just saw and responded to your question on another video. I think that you are correct -- flying is more complicated. Driving, no one even asked about Casper. This is not "official" but it may help. www.travelingwith2dogs.com/driving-to-mexico-with-dogs/ When are you planning your trip?
I keep asking for answers regarding a reliable movers…. Till now no one can give me any advice … it there are so many expats in Chapala, I wonder how you guys and your followers get there safe and sound with your belongings….. trying to get out of California and go to Chapala, please if you know the answers let me know, any information will be very very veeery appreciated!!!!!!…
Hi Anabel, Sorry, but we didn't ship any furniture or household goods. Casper got the backseat, Carmen and I got the front. Computer, cameras, and some clothes went in the trunk. We sold, gave away, or donated nearly everything else that we had accumulated over the past 30 years. We did "ship" a few things. Carmen's sister knew a man who drives from California to various parts of Mexico, every few months. He will take a Home Depot large (maybe it was extra large) box for about $160USD. He takes a long time -- a couple of weeks, but everything arrived with no problems. I can ask my sister-in-law for his phone number, if you want.
@@paulcarmenmovetomexico6922 thank you very much for your reply…..
Interesting journey. Congratulations!
Gracias, Luis.
Thanks for your video. All the best for you in México Lindo y Querido. Blessings
Gracias, Rocio!
Roosters in the background, so common when in Mexico. Thank you for sharing Sir!
They certainly are. Now my problem is my dog. He seems to have decided that it is his job to wake the roosters!!!
Thanks Paul. YT just recommended your channel. I love the simple videos. I/we are looking to retire there when we can.
Hi Greg, if we can answer any questions, feel free to ask.
Very enjoyable. I love all the bright colors in your new house.
Hi Sonja. Thanks. Carmen thinks that the blue borders around the ceiling make it look like I forget to remove the painter's tape!!! Well, they are 11 foot high ceilings, and she just fell off a step ladder, so I don't thing that she's the one who will be painting over it. :) Saludos to Bill.
Thanks, Paul. Fun stuff! Hope you’re enjoying your new digs!
Hey Bill, thanks. It sems that you have also had achange of address -- glad to see you dreawing again. You should fit a couple of weeks into your schedule and come visit -- change in the architecture that you are accustomed to.
@@paulcarmenmovetomexico6922 - beunas noches (??) - much better with German! Yes, we’ve moved into a very nice apartment in a nearby CCRC (“continuous care retirement community”) and 6 weeks in we’re loving it. Especially loving not having to take care of 95-year old house, yard, and gardens. Hopefully, soon we’ll get back to traveling as well. We’ll put you on the list!
