signal generator testing tait tm8110 rx
I'm going to leave the purpose of this video a mystery. Who knows?
The signal generator is an HP 8656B. The radio is a Tait Tm8110 on 147.555. The devices next to the radio are TARPN NinoTNCs.

KA2DEW puts crimp pl259 on rg8x
มุมมอง 6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
If you've had enough of people racing through the process of putting a connector on coax while giving you lots of face time, this video is the opposite. Here all the mistakes are made and discussed. I slowly and clumsily strip an end of RG8X with a cheap plastic stripper, fine-tune the strip with a box cutter, then crip the connector on, backtracking a couple of times, and then solder the pin, ...
TARPN node showing Robust Power, first article Control Panel, Jay-box built for the NCPACKET network
มุมมอง 8884 ปีที่แล้ว
This May 2020 video shows a short test of the first-article brand-new TARPN Control Panel designed by Larry WN8P and mounted conveniently in a Jay box designed by Jay KM4EP.. The Bill Of Materials for the Control Panel will be modified to select resistors and LEDs to match and be of consistent brightness. We'll also move the DC power lugs on the back of the right side of the panel so it can be ...
3 NinoTNCs pounding away at 9600 baud - May 2020 - NCPACKET is a TARPN
มุมมอง 1.6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Here is a video of one end of three point-to-point links working hard at 9600 baud in the NCPACKET network. A single USB cable is run to a Raspberry PI (across the room at this point) running G8BPQ PILINBPQ in the TARPN configuration. There are three NinoTNCs, on 147.555, 441.475 and 446.475 talking to three other nodes. The 4th TNC is idle until I get another radio hooked up. I need some anten...
Testing NinoTNC and Tait TM8105 for TARPN link
มุมมอง 1.5K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Dan K4FD made this short video after setting up two NinoTNC N9600A2 TNCs for two nodes which are part of the NCPACKET TARPN. See tarpn.net and ncpacket.net. This video shows a short file download using NinoTNC at 9600 baud.
Using Google-Earth to check terrain between two radio sites
มุมมอง 2004 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm using this to do see if pairs of hams have a UHF path between them. We use this for NCPACKET org to build out our TARPN (terrestrial Amateur Radio packet network). To do this, click on the RULER tool, then the PATH tab, checkbox Show Elevation Profile, then click on your starting location. For UHF path analysis, be very specific about the ground location above which your antenna is placed. ...
TARPN NinoTNCs talking at 9600 baud

This is the production version of the $30 TARPN USB-KISS 1200/9600 NinoTNC (black) next to the prototype of the same device. The two are chatting back and forth using 9600 baud with Forward Error Correction. See tarpn.net/d for information.
cavity filters for packet link
มุมมอง 4414 ปีที่แล้ว
One of our packet node stations had several radio systems on UHF including Dxing repeaters, an existing packet link, and a business radio he needed to operate. We wanted to add another packet radio network link for our social-media-over-radio project. The initial tests of that radio interfered with all three of the existing radios. This wouldn't do. Using some cavity filters found at a local ha...

2018 exploring CNC TARPN
มุมมอง 2305 ปีที่แล้ว
I used a terminal from the FFVC node to explore the packet radio network in central North Carolina in October 2018 The main feature of the TARPN concept is that the network can saturate the RF links, giving optimal performance at 1200 baud packet. The saturation is possible because there are never collisions on the links. In this video I connect from the middle of a 9-station long network, then...
two UHF TARPN links at one site - Cavity Filter

My network neighbor, VON, has two TARPN packet links on UHF, both using 25watt surplus commercial radios, both with yagis. Since these are TARPN links they can both be saturated at the same time, i.e. one receiver could be copying something critical while the other transmitter is on the air. The interference is enou...

Although Iam not a fan of crimp on UHF Coax connectors, this is a great video! As for the excess solder on the center conductor, I usually use an all metal fingernail file, makes quick work of smoothing out the center pin!. Again, great video, thanks for sharing!🇺🇸😏👍

Is the crimper and rg8x available on Amazon or where else can I buy them?

    • @taddinraleigh
      @taddinraleigh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I use QSRADIO.com as a supplier Amazon offerings are inconsistent. Some great deals, some ripoffs. Amazon ratings system is confusing because somebody gives a rating for a product which then shows up in somebody else's offering for the product, but the somebody else might be a rip-off artist. The rating may not even be for the same version of the product. I use Amazon quite a bit, but you have to beware and be aggressive with Amazon when they send you trash. QSRADIO has been very responsive, responsible, and fair. That said, QSRADIO does sell some good products which are available cheaper elsewhere. But all of the elsewhere venders (ebay, amazon) are riskier.

I do have a bunch of solder connectors with adapters but I use a Weller sp120 for soldering the braid and solder station for the center pin. Too much hassle and I'd rather use the crimp connectors. we have shipped 210 of the A2 model as of Apr 20. We have 10 PCBs for the A3 on hand and are writing assembly instructions and testing modes and whatnot. Some code work was required between the A2 and A3 and more code work is desired. We'll probably be ordering a for-sale batch of the A3 boards in the next week. Pre-orders are open. Check the web site for new, info, and assembly instructions. tarpn.net/d. also there is a groups.io list for this and our other packet radio projects. All on the info site.

What a beautiful and affectionate cat! Amazing. He looks very much like my deceased baby. I miss him so much. Mine used to wake me up and lullaby me to sleep with purrs and kisses everyday for the past 9.5 years until he died suddenly. Sir, sometimes their heart defects don't show any symptoms until they die suddenly. It would be wise to do an echocardiogram at a veterinary cardiologist to rule out this disgusting disease. I miss my boy terribly and find it difficult to just function since he died a month ago. Enjoy yours every day cause sometimes they "leave" unexpectedly and suddenly.
