Hello and thanks for stopping by. My TH-cam page is about my hobbies. Mainly flying but also making things. I started flying in 1994 with weight shift Microlights and progress on to the Beautiful Evektor EV-97 Eurostar which I love. The Eurostar is also a Microlight variant. I love my flying trips. I have traveled a lot of France, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. France is a country I really enjoy flying too.

I see this is 7 years ago. My question is why did you mount the radio and transponder in the panel area? I see so many do that and it contributes to massive radio noise. Shield each one with a thin carbon fiber box to prevent this issue along with ferrous rings to cancel any impedance loops in the wiring. Done correctly using carbon fiber (because it blocks RFI) leaves you with crystal clear radio transmissions and reception. I learned this doing radio and CB installs in cars and trucks. The engine puts out all kinds of RFI and you need to shield against it.
Had to stop watching this after just 30 seconds in - dizzying vertigo from all the rapid camera moves.
Hi John. I’d like to borrow your video for a non commercial (LAA) presentation please ?
Hi Ian, Yes no problem
@@JohnParker1967 many thanks
Nice one JP, what a great day!
I do like that tail camera view. Looks like a great trip 👍😎
2 minutes into the video: I can't understand a word you are saying. Your video is not in focus.
Fantastic journey, footage and scenery, looking to do part of West coast in July
Very nice video John. How do you get on with the 360 degrees camera?
Thanks Tim for the comment. I won’t go back to normal cameras. Reasonably easy to edit and it’s all on an iPad ,it captures everything. Quality isn’t best but it’s good enough I think for this.
Awesome 😎
Can you please post more flights like this I have just started learning to fly and my ambition is flighs like this
What an awesome trip! Spectacular scenery and looked like good flying conditions. How many hours flying was that?
10.5 hours 🙂
Superb video. What camera were you using and how was it mounted?
Hi ya. It’s an Insta360 one x with a bracket I made that goes over the leading edge of the rudder post.
@@JohnParker1967 Thanks John I may copy that idea. It produces some great results. I've been planning to do that trip for years but never managed it.
Marvellous, why we do what we do .
Epic 👍
Hi John, this video is a bit old now but thank you so much for making it! So hard to find information about this product from people who have used it successfully. I have a question if I may - is the paper in the kit just plain old waterslide paper theyre using (the one you print on). Because I tried doing the same steps you did in the video above, both with cheap ebay foil and actual decalpro fx foil, and no matter what I did I could not get the image to transfer to my surface in the last step. I was rubbing forever but it would not release from the carrier mylar. The only difference I had was that I dont have the decalpro fx paper, I was using cheap ebay waterslide paper (which of course came away as you'd expect in the water - just like your video). Any help would be so appreciated.
It is a great and affordable bit of kit. I have the PAW classic but with an upgraded Raspberry PI. Good video
Fantastic views, I must try out one of those 360 cameras. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Put suppression on the coax
That was a very nice long trip John. Good record of your destinations. How many of you went?
Hi Tim. Yes it was a good run out. Beautiful weather not to be wasted. 4 people in 3 ships and another local one. VS came from Eshott 😳. Catch up soon. Safe flying
Wow, that’s a long way away. I remember you followed a shadow into a strip called 40 acre once, I noticed your panel was made up of 2 iPads. What apps are you using? Thinking of mounting a spare iPhone in one of the shadows.
MrMan123 . What are you looking for, navigation or engine management . I must pop into 40 acre again soon. That’s a nice strip.
John Parker using SkyDemon for nav on an iPad, engine management probably wouldn’t be worth it as using a 582 2 stroke. It was just an idea, but will probably just use the iPhone for taking pics or copy a checklist into it. Most people comment on how smooth the runways are, Mike Faulkner said he’d been on rougher putting greens! Let someone know you’re coming first and there should be tea and biscuits if someone hasn’t eaten all of them.
Wonderful job!! :] I have a few question to you. Can I use any laser print water slide decal papers? And when I used laminator, the gold foil transfer on the water slide paper. How can I fix? Or how can I succeed? Actually I want to transfer only letter and logo. Please teach me and I am sorry for my english skills.. :(
I get all the way through the procedure until I get to the point of transferring the image on my model. The image won't stick. It comes off on the mylar, not the model. You mentioned a solvent. What type of solvent are you using. I am frustrated, thank you, your answer would be appreciated. Thank you, Robert Brown.
Robert Brown . Frustration yes. The solvent is the activator for 'miter glue' or super glue. I tried all sorts to create temporary adhesion to the Mylar. Good luck it is possible
@@JohnParker1967 Maybe it just won't stick to a painted surface? I will try to find the accelerator spray, thank you very much, Robert Brown.
I thank you very much. You have made sense of this procedure. I am applying logos on model trains. Thanks. Robert Brown.
Awesome. Thank for sharing your process.
Hi John, I have the Rosetta too. Only seems to pick up airliners. Will I be able to see all traffic once I'm airborne? Thanks
Sam Irving. Hi, are you a Uk pilot? What type of aircraft have you installed it on and where are the antennas placed.
Better with a static camera
Great for small one color decals but I am doing large full color graphics does anyone have a supplier for the larger sheet of the blue paper in the kit? I cannot follow Frank Miller instructions they are incomplete or are contradicting.
I can get everything perfect up until basically the very last step - applying the graphic and removing the mylar carrier. No matter how exacting I follow the instructions, part of the graphic comes up with the mylar...every time. Very frustrating. I'll watch this this carefully, thanks for the upload.
The same here we are having identical issues with DecalPro fx it is everything but PRO
May as well go to the printer .
Hi, this is and old video but do you have an email to contact you?
MrRazland. How can I help. The process is still the same as I have just completed another panel with the same process.
Look i'm from mexico, and i want to know how to add a UV cured top coat to this process......do you have an idea about it.........or probably i miss that part in you video since i am not a native speaker of the kings. And also want to know about the printing procees you use sinche i can see is white ink you are using......hope i made myself clear with my doubts.
Oh and thanks in advance for you quick response
Hi John Are you still using iPads as your PFD and EMS.?
Hi John, Thanks for the video, Making a panel for an RV7 aircraft and noticed you were doing decals for a panel too. Could you tell me what paint you used over the top of your decals? Was it a matt finish? Was 2 pak 2k paint ore just a rattle can? I have a can of PlastiKote matt, but not sure if this be ok. It is going ontop of a two pack black painted panel.
David Glass . Hi, I wouldn’t recommend an aerosol spray. I used an aerosol laquer and its cracked already. I have done a second panel since and we used a local paint shop with a oven finished paint and laquer and this has turned out very well. Flat the colour down before you apply the decals as you can’t risk touching or contaminating the surfaces and wear gloves always. :)
there are a couple different activators for super glue ... what is the actual ingredient in the activator.. thanks, helps us blocks in the USA ...the brand does not matter.
Nicely edited John. Looked like a great camp away.
No I am in Canada
How is the Grand Rapids and iLevil working for you. That is what I am planning for my 750 CruZer pannel?
Gord Rose. Hi. Going very well thanks. I will do a video on it very soon. Are you in the UK.
Great video but can you just clarify the solvent and contact adhesive you use for White. As I understand the solvent you use is Super Glue Activator - this is prior to bonding with the Mylar film. You then use a contact adhesive on the finished graphic (with a mask) prior to applying to the panel. What conatct adhesive do you use? I plan to try this system for the re-labelling of vintage Leak amplifiers which were always labelled with white silk screen...
Good installation work.
well, my Discovery works fine with the Garmin GNC255A
I know of one other person, Mark Langford who had issues with the mgl. But there are hundreds of others out there who are perfectly happy. It is hard to tell if there is a real quality issue just from 2 or 3 cases, especially considering all the possible installation issues. I don't know what to to do.
Please base your statements on fact. You don't actually know if it's hundreds of happy customers do you and specifically the Discovery Lite units in the UK. Also It has nothing to do with quality of 2-3 cases. I welcome anyone to call me before buying one for my experience.
John Parker i don't know for a fact that there are 100s of happy customers, that's true. But in the age of the internet I think there would be more than 3 pissed off people, unless they had not sold any units and those people would have posted something. If you go looking for people who have had problems with rotec engines it is easy to find lots of them but I have looked for others with problems with mgl and I can't find them. If you know of more please say so.
I talk from experience, can you? Lets just say I have Never seen a Discovery Lite in a UK or French aeroplane that is flying and has a 8.33 radio and I get about in both countries. Yes I have given someone my views, and they have ignored and returned it. MGL finally hide behind a 1975 standard the DO-160 which is as much use a chocolate teapot in this day and age for electronics.
I have the MGL Xtreme mini EFIS and the MGL V6 radio, in 6 years flying they have never interfered with each other.
Sorry but having the camera fixed to your head made me feel sick so couldn't watch too much.
Hope you feel better soon
Hi John, Great video. After watching this a while ago I bought the system and also the same laminator as you use. I am finding it hard to find more of the KK2000 spray adhesive and wondered if you have any good sources to get this in the UK.
Did it work or are you like the rest of us dead in the water?
Hi john...is there a uk stockist for this and could you tell me about the printing process...laser or inkjet...type of paper
Hi. I got it from Crafty Computer Paper on 0116 2744 755 craftycomputerpaper.co.uk. You must use a Laser printer, I bought a secondhand mono tone one as that's all you need. Everything else is in the kit
Hi John, What is the solvent you use with the white? I couldn't quite make out the audio. Thanks for the video - it's extremely helpful!
Hi Pamela. A product like this www.uksealants.co.uk/bondloc-super-glue-activator-200ml-non-yellowing.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwn6DMBRC0ARIsAHZtCeONCbNY4zajWnzsyqh9lDguKtXPk-94DvNuGi0xS4WTLvP0NiZFk6waAqNAEALw_wcB
Is that laminator modified in any way, or a standard Peak Pro? Thanks.
Hi. Just a standard one. Probably not the best laminator but it works fine. I just tried to get a hot one with temp control.
Thanks.... so many are crap at this, it's good to know one that works before buying.
Excellent airmanship John. Well done. Must admit for a second that you shadow on the runway was another aircraft!
Just found the answer to my own question! Awesome footage as my grandchildren would say!
Great scenery, stunning camera work. What camera are you using John? Was it a fly in or just a visit?
Hi Tim, I sent you a FB message with info
I'm sorry but just use a sharpie - the method is a bit too complex.
Update. My friend called today and was told the upgrade/update worked now so he bought one. He has sent it back as It doesn't work still. All that work and a new panel is scrap. Show me one that works with 8.33....as rare as hens teeth
