EV ANGER at OHME 🤬🤬🤬 Bad start to the day!!!!
This is not about the EV.. its great and works very well for our use.
Its about the OHME PRO charger failing EVERY night.
Its only success is its ability to FAIL with such unwavering regularity !!!
It was working beautifully. I never thought about it. I recommended OHME to everyone I knew that was switching to an EV.
Now... I SEE the OHME as NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!
FYI The vehicles charge fine on the Granny Charger.

This was probably the nudge I need to make the effort to try some of these doodads. Thanks. Years (many, many) back I was trying to maintain a "Festool +1" discipline. A compact cordless mitre saw and cordless angle grinder from Metabo took me down the green path. Freedom from a compressor and a Dewalt cordless framing nailer took me down the yellow road. Then the need for a cordless nibbler dragged me into the blue. It's a bloody tool brand circus at my place now :(

Do you have previous experience with diesel heater? I'm not saying that to be rude. There is a process. First=fan starts and runs. Second=glow plug heats up. Third=fuel pump begins ticking. Fourth=glow plug turns off. Whole process takes between 3 to 5 minutes. If any interruptions occur system shuts down. Not enough information in a 2-minute clip. Need more info. Could be low power (volts or amps) supplying the unit.

I've also been having problems, it seems to be unreliable. Sometimes it looses contact with the car and then starts to charge to full rather than 70% I've set. One one occassion I had to remove the car from the app and then add it again to get it to work. On quite a few occasions I've had to reboot Ohme which is not easy as I have to pull out a load of stuff from the meter cupboard before I can get at the power switch. The recent software upgrade did not work with the phone properly as the expected screen size did not match my older Android phone. I've recently upgraded my phone which has fixed this problem. To be fair the last couple of times I used it worked ok, scheduled short charges and then finished on target at the target time. I believe the software architecture is complicated, Ohme has to be able to contact the Ohme server, the Ohme server has to contact the Kia server to get the car charge level. The scheduling plan seems to be better now, it plans half hours during peak time and reports that these will be at cheap rate (7p as I'm no Octopus Intelligent) although I'm not sure I can verify this on my bills.

PITA when tech fails - did you sync it to the different car if on Octopus Intelligent ??? I'm on Eon ND so no need to sync a smart charger like Ohme/Zappi, but even with a basic charger the Zoe now & then throws a tantrum on the Zoe's Scheduled Charge settings ??? Getting a bit fed up with all this tech failing on charge schedules, thinking about going back to a timer/clock into say a 40a contactor to switch on the EV charger off-peak than rely on EV's internal/Energy company schedule switching (a 3kW immersion 16a timer clock worked flawlessly when we was using a granny 3 pin charger for 6 months until we got a wallbox/charger fitted)

I've got the same model of CTEK. On a regular battery (which would not hold charge for more than 3 days) I used the charge mode, got it to full but it would drop SoC repeatedly (as in 7% every 1hr in cold weather). I then ran the recondition mode and after 10 hours, the battery is on 99% SoC and 12.78v. Temps have risen slightly where I am and I'll check tomorrow morning but it does seem that the CTEK Recond mode does indeed work, or at least buys you more time before needing to purchase a new battery. I have a battery monitor permanently wired to the battery also which measures SoC, Temp and Voltage which will of course go towards using some of the charge.

Yes. It allows you to programme your vehicle. A BT (bluetooth) one is easier to use. I have always bought them second hand from a fellow DISCO3 forum member OR from ebay. Always second hand. You simply contact GAP, register that you now have the tool (they all have a unique ID). Im not sure of the current fee.. but they then unlock ALL of the abilities to allow you to fully programme your Landy. You can even program your own spare keys, reset and programme your air suspension etc Even if you buy and dont register it you can still read and clear codes etc on ALL Land Rovers... The 'unlock' allows you to flash your own vehicles memory. Hope that makes sense? Thanks Graham Ps... I have nothing to do with GAP.. im just a Land Rover owner and a GAP is my most used 'tool'

2159kw at todays tariffs. Export value is 15p/kwh import -- best price with a car tariff is 7p, so if you had exported it and then imported it for heating water you would have made 8p/kwh X 2159 = £172.72 - seems pretty good if it cost less than that to install.

An Eddi (bare with VAT but not installed) is about £430) Say £200 for installation>? Total of £630... So payback would be 18 Years ... ish... Does that kind of make sense?

@@dominiquelewis having had that happen It could well just be the 12V battery. I have Ctek charger. You are supposed to run the recon cycle periodically throughout the life of the battery. You can't wait until the battery is bad to try to recondition it. Plus, you are supposed to run the regular charging cycle on the battery first. If the battery will take a full charge, THEN run the recon cycle. This keeps the lead plates desulfated regularly and the battery working properly for longer. That's my experience.

    • @G-Cam1
      @G-Cam1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@steve37341 good point. Yes I should have pointed this out. In a daily use vehicle this seldom is the reality. I do generally this for my classics as they are run sporadically. However many people buy these type of chargers specifically as they are sold as being battery reconditioners and ressurectors via their pulse/switch mode... I guess the use of batteries and charging them is many and varied.

If the ground is very dry, and the installer installed an earth spike, you may need to water the ground where the spike is. I know you may think this sounds weird, however it is a genuine solution, as, when the earth dries out, contact can be lost and issues (earth fault) can occur. It may not be this ... @@G-Cam1 I have the Avenger (great boot), so solid, but 640grams for each boot. Excellent boot . I was looking at their suede/lightweight leather mid boots, more some summer high level hiking. As long as their customer service was spot on. Sounds like it was. Thank you for the response

Hi Yes It will detect the fault and you can even get readings in the pressure in the suspension tank. It can also be used to set up your suspension heights if you need to do so after replacing a height sensor etc .. If you have a suspension issue i have two common areas to suggest you look at: 1. The actual integrity of the air tank and air bags. 2. The wiring loom behind the arch lining where it enters through the bulkhead from the suspension height sensor is very prone to chaffing and it wears a hole in the shroud and then the wire breaks. The other common issue is the suspension valves (the o ring seals may need replacing) or less commonly the air suspension bags themselves. I hope that helps.. but an IID will diagnose the fault and possibly the exact component (although it cannot, for instance determine the fault in an air pipe vs a leaky valve or a suspension strut).. It can also clear all faults etc... it does everything a garage diagnostic unit can do as well as programming the vehicle and new keys etc.. Graham

Would it pick up suspension service warning lights that come on. It goes when i switch the car off and on again. My other ODB code reader doesn't pick up again, with the light on or off. So im non yhe wiser as to the suspension fault.

Asalamaleikum from Kosoves.Your battery tester is not good.AGM batteries also lose water. But very little.Measure the weight of battery and compare with the weight

Thanks Good tip My tester is usually pretty good TBH.. I take it as a 'guide' but it has not failed me yet when compared to garage 'load testers'. The weight is interesting.. im not sure if the Treeing or Sulfation is directly related to electrolyte loss? I will need to investigate that one. Fitting a new battery solved the issues... I was hoping I might be able to recondition the battery for use in the workshop .... The test is still ongoing 😂

I have a similar issue with the new MG5, the rear hatchdoor has water pouring out after every time it rains and I lift the door, from inside the door! Ridiculous from a new car. I’m now thinking (from other comments here) it may be drain plugs not having been removed. Crazy… it’s a 2 hour drive to the nearest MG dealers from where I live in Scotland… a whole day taken up checking a fault that shouldn’t be a thing in a brand new car. Pretty disappointed. Will check drain plugs asap. Thanks for the video!

It is annoying. The MG dealer was an hour away from us. We are also in Scotland. On the positive side the car performed flawlessly after the leak was fixed. The only other issue was the plastic clips on the tailgate that hold the string for the parcel shelf. I replaced them with Land Rover clips that I had in the workshop.. sorted. Overall the MG was a delight to own and there are elements that are missing from the Tesla Y.
