Clash of the Titans (1981 vs 2010) Revenge of the Remakes - Colby's Nerd Talks
Release the Kraken!
The classic Ray Harryhausen fantasy epic vs. its 2010 reimagining. Do the remake's CGI effects blow the old stop motion monsters out of the water? Or does the tactile feel of stop motion make the now 14 year old CGI look dated? Here are my thoughts.

Jason and the Argonauts (1963) Movie Review- Colby's Nerd Talks
มุมมอง 18216 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Let's go back to a time before CGI, where stop-motion was the primary way to bring the impossible to life and one name stood above the rest. Ray Harryhausen. The king of stop-motion creature effects bring us this epic telling of the Greek hero Jason and his fantastic voyage to find the golden fleece. But how well does it hold up in a post-CGI world?
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) Movie Review - Colby's Nerd Talks
มุมมอง 1114 วันที่ผ่านมา
This movie is notoriously bad for how much of the X-Men mythos it gets wrong in adaptation, but is there anything redeeming about this first attempt at a solo Wolverine movie? Here are my thoughts.
X-Men 3: The Last Stand (2006) Movie Review - Colby's Nerd Talks
มุมมอง 2721 วันที่ผ่านมา
This controversial adaptation of The Dark Phoenix Saga, X-Men 3: The Last Stand was slammed by critics and fans alike at the time, but all these years later, and with a saturated superhero movie market, is it really as bad as we all thought?

This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid (along with Fantastic Voyage), and whenever it came on TV, I would drop everything to watch it. I think Clash of the Titans has to be by next favorite Ray Harryhausen movie.
It's just a movie. Your opinion is only that. An opinion.
there is also a 1996 samson and delilah
“They’re gonna make him do this till he’s 90” - marvel Jesus
However clever, ideas must grow from the 'belly of the beast,' not be stuck on just because clever. BTW episodic: common in early 1900s. See Perils of Pauline, Exploits of Elaine with 'historic eyes.'
11:55 Pinocchio *burns to death* in the whale - swirled with masses of water, no hint of fire but for smoke to infuriate Monstro? How *contrived* could it be!? "Shirley you can't be serious!"
WD gets bad tags e.g. racist; but he did abuse Bobby Driscoll (Peter Pan). Grown from cute kid to gawky teen, BD one day found his gate pass invalid. NO prior notice. Downer, drugs, died. Thanks Walt.
Disney's was the first production in which Peter was a male character - as in played, in this case voiced, by a boy. Girls had been the norm befor this.
Lugosi WAS a sex symbol, at least in its 1930s interpretation. For a long time that reputation uplifted him; in the long term, however, it crushed him.😢😢
Like me, Bert had NO SECRET FAMILY. His place in the world: to shower love on people who need it and may not be receiving it (yet.) I chose to stay single and support youthnat risk. refugees etc.
Reasoning: too many parents don't place their kids first. Either do so - or *don't have kids.* I've gone into war zones, dark side of cities etc. - NOT leaving wife-kids to worry
Cracked ribs due to a freak accident keep me lying about for days. Thank goodness I found this channel. Why don't your well prepared, sincerely presented posts have ZILLIONS of Likes?
Mr Colby! Please watch MERRICK HANNA In America's Got Talent! Age 13 then (c.20 now), Merrick danced a boy & his robot (the Pooh-film end reminded me.) Heart-grabbing in c.3 min
In this post-Snow White (fiasco) era, I *hope Hope HOPE* Disney will keep its grubby paws off this and ALL its to-now mercifully spared animations. No more so-called 'live action' remakes!
Disney re-viewing?🧐Maybe at e.g. 7-yr rerelease. 90+% of people wouldn't notice reused animation until VCRs "went viral" in late '70s.🫨 Some points & judgments you make don't line up with history.
101 Dalmatians' art style was CHOSEN to focus on roughness. Once colour blocks and shapes had been set, an artist *intentionally* laid rougher line drawings over the colours, not quite lining up.
I like all of yours so far except *who cares about kittens' bloodlines?* 3 times saving one kitten (Marie); big deal. A dolphin saved a dog out in the ocean: a bear saved a crow. *They don't share DNA*
One line-draw artist, Milt Kahl I think, forbade ANY cleanup of his lines. He had the standing to make such demands. We do see some rough lines left behind in cels made from his work.
Shared Universe is so clearly intended! Also imternally in the film, e.g. where dogs introduced (when Pongo is matchmaking) return later for the Twilight Bark! Brilliant... Please re-consider....
I guess you as American. I'm Canadian with multi-links to UK people & character. To me, "British-ness" (including discretion and reserve) is part of what make 101... so successful.
Grinds to a halt... ??? Think eye of a hurricane. If it were nonstop action, we might get numbed. To me the pacing here is masterful *because* balanced between wild action and spacious quiet.
Watch Prince Philip in context of the two previous princes. Viewed as their follow-up, his comic elements e.g. "NO MORE CARROTS!" showed quite a progression.
Eleanor Audley, the voice of Maleficent and Lady Tremaine, was in real life the most *adorable* lady by all accounts!
Haha you're a grown man, you say. So am I - at age 68; but we both have little-kid hearts that warm to these terrific animated classics. Thank you for this series of Disney reviews.🎉🤩🙏
Great reminder! I'll play *Bella Notte* on piano this week for senior citizens. I think you miss sadness of much laundry from poor flats - new-world hopes dimmed. Time is needed to project it.
Sherman brothers were Jewish (Walt called them "my sons"), also Betty-Lou Gerson who voiced the original Cruella. Evidence against anti-Semitism blame aimed at him. PS Luv yer singing!😅😅
Dick van Dyke unique in film-musical history, as perhaps the only star in a major role to be FORGIVEN by his linguistic 'originators'. They felt that his charm outweighed the negatives.
Well well! I just shut down 1/3 way into a sleep 😴 inducing Poppins review. So great!! to find you, projecting care and energetic involvement with your audience. Subscribed already, I forgot.🤩🤩
17:41 Actually the Spanish version shows that Renfield was going after a fly on the maid.
yeah they failed big time... It was cringe to watch, knowing what Apoc was in the comics & cartoons
After Seven Samurai, gotta watch Tatsuya Nakadai in HaraKiri (Masaki Kobayashi 1962)
1933 version
They did Darwin dirty...
The mark of zorro from 1940 has the best duel in cinema history😊
It’s not supernatural?
The problem was too many writers, studio interference and a writer's strike.
I would love a prequel of his teachings. Caveizal was fantastic
There is a reason why the romantic scenes came across so real. It Was because the actors had feelings for eachother .
Marvel was broke and dying back then😂
What are you talking about? X Men was Marvel's cash cow for 30 years at that point.
In age of ultron I think yeah
Also thor s vision shows him what ragnarok going to be like serious and dark scary but now it s fun funny and lighthearted so on
Compare thor ragnarok logo what it was to now since then in 2014 comic con Kevin feige revealed thor ragnarok was a another serious and dark film but now thor ragnarok is fun funny lighthearted
Imagine if we got another serious and dark thor ragnarok before infinity war that would suck and thor ragnarok is also going to be the worst film like dark world but it changed to make it lighthearted and fun
Thor ragnarok was almost serious and dark gritter but it changed so yeah also the logo I get that some people don't love this movie but some like it so yeah also with thor 1 and 2 and love and thunder but I liked some stuff about love and thunder but most I like is thor 1 and I kinda like both 2 thor movies but not first but instead dark world and ragnarok I loved thor ragnarok but I also love thor the dark world in my opinion
Errol wins hands down
Nope, iron man should not have died
They wanted female led movies from the beginning. The problem was that Perlmutter didn't. When he left, Marvel opened the flood gates.
This upcoming October would be a great time to review Wolfman(2010)!!! 'PLEASE'
I feel like that movie had a lot of potential, but just came up a little short.
I completely agree with your assessment. It was a true test for the MCU and Iron Man as a developing Character. I was not a fan of the bait and switch. Great analysis
The movie made me hate human nature.
