I'm Mikey "Vegas" Villegas, an Audio Engineer/Producer/Studio Owner and NOW a 55 year old BMX'er. Follow me on my Bmx journey as I attempt to rekindle my passion for bmx racing, skatepark riding and street riding.
I'll be posting videos of my progression as I start with a brand new SE SO Cal 24" big BMX bike and work my way back into riding shape, hitting the skateparks to re learn many of the essentials, as well as my racing journey in the 55+ Novice class.
This is a 40 year dream put on hold until this year at 55 years old. I originally started my bmx journey in the late 70's through the mid 80's when I rode for my local bike shop team and support team for Hutch BMX. A 40 year hiatus, with life taking over, kept me from fulling some goals as a teenager. Now at 55, I pick up where I left off with aspirations of District, State, Gold Cup, and NAG rankings. Two different worlds original BMX, the real thing. Digital BMX wind tunnels stopwatch track times aerodynamic clothing, tight fitting light weight. We would have called the carbon fiber Erea DISCO.
It's funny how times have changed! The core of the sport remains the same though!
