The most painful thing is when your colleagues are also perpetrating racism towards one and will not call it out or stand up for one. That's why it'll always be there.😢
Thanks for sharing your experience. It's heartbreaking that you had to deal with so much as a nurse. God bless you. 🌼
A sad year 2020. When the Covid-19 pandemic took away a lot from us and the world
I also watched this movie. It's really good and gave me a lot of emotions. The pandemic has taken away a lot of things from us.
Bravo sister
I am black and proud of my African heritage unfortunately yesterday I felt target by the colour of my skin I am so upset the treatment I received yesterday discussing conduct from two matrons unbelievable
Very sad, 😢
HR will never defend us nurses
Thank You for raising your voices, I am sick of this behaviour… too much fear we can’t really voice we suffer in silent currently I feel like this…
As an African American (black person).... every individual has a story to tell
Very few white people in this comments section are actually referring to the words "racism" and the fact their people are the ones treating non white nurses this way. They are being silent on this and speaking AROUND this when racism is the main topic of this documentary. i find that illuminating. White people do not want to mention or call out racism even when it is so starkly apparent. I have noticed this in other circumstances too. They cannot simply say THEIR people have been treating non white NHS staff badly. They cannot say it.
Shocking. Everyone should watch this
All BS. Racism does not exist in the NHS. Unless it’s coming from the non-Ethnic population of the UK. The Ethnic British population are the ones who are being subjected to Anti White racism. We allowed Africans into Our society with open arms. We even give them free health care and free housing and food when they arrive. But they answer Our kindness with false accusations of racism. This is Our country so respect that. You expect Us to respect your culture but you completely disregard Ours!
My son was seriously ill a few years ago, and it was long term, he took two years to recover. We were in and out of a hospital in South Wales, two to three times a week. I have observed racism directed at doctors and nurses of colour all the time. Nothing too obvious, but subtle, very British racism. White nurses not responding to or being helpful to a doctor in a hijab. It was disgusting. The main consultant who took care of my son was from India, a lovely woman. Yet, other white consultants would talk as if she was nobody or act as if they had never heard of her. I just kept insisting on seeing her. I didn't want to be seeing a different doctor each time. The worst thing about all this is that these are educated people who know that medically, racism has no foundation. We are all human.
How's your son, now? Trust, he is thriving ❤
Well experience Nurse, and an expert Theatre practitioner, the talent is extra ordinary, more grease to your elbow
Stop racism is stop working for this country . Don’t serve these evil nation .
Thank you for this very moving and honest account of your experiences!
thank you for putting this video out. it has shone light on the issues that used to be swept under the carpet previously.
ThankYou
Oh my God,you made me proud thanks
This is very very heartbreaking 💔💔💔💔 it happens everyday and it’s still happening! I know. I am a black nurse!

Thank you for shining a spotlight on this Neomi. You do great work and I am proud of you. It's so horrible to hear of your experiences as well as the wider problems facing black nurses.
What shocking comments!!!
Thank you for shining the light on this tragedy!!! Disgraceful
I was trying to send u a private message on Twitter on that topic due to the sensitivity. I have the image of Iron Man on my handle.
These types of experiences breaks you professionally, physically and emotionally. Keep going.
👍
I found this incredibly powerful, but very sad. WHY - does our society continue to do this to our staff? - we are ALL the same - human beings with feelings and compassion. This made me cry and also quite angry.....
Thank you so much for this video. It brought years to my eyes but I'm glad we're all finally talking about it.
I am the very proud daughter of a nurse who lived and breathed the NHS. the stress she endured from countless bullying and harassment I believe led to her premature death on retirement. She had 36yrs of experience and could only reach band 5 having supported colleagues to get to ward sister level. I also worked for the NHS in professional services for just under 25 yrs because I didn't have the courage to be a nurse because of the abuse. But suffered a similar experience in my journey...
The Race The Risk and The Rife
How far have humanity come since 1948 Beautiful people were ask to come to the Great Britain of racism to help to rebuild this great country... Why is this still existing in this era? Every lives matter..none above another... In God's perfect plannings, he created us all equal.
Excellent account of our Esther's experience of discrimination. Thank you to the Nursing Narratives team in creating this platform for us.
The struggle is real and once the dust settles, suffer continues 😪
Thanks so much for sharing your lived experiences. It is lonely in an organisation without support. Very painful!
Well done all 💝💝💝. Black Nurses matter, all Black Matter. Racism should not be accepted
Thank you all for sharing your truth 💗
This documentary is so raw and there's so much truth to it.... I pray that things change for the Bame community 🙏🏽
War and terrible situations like Covid bring out the best and the worst in human beings. All the nurses and doctors who risk their lives deserve our wholehearted thanks for their selfless support and comfort to the people they help. Without these wonderful caring people we would be lost. Thank you to all those doctors and nurses from all walks of life both people of colour and white. X
This reminds me of what is going on in Ukraine, we are simply offering prayers hoping they will survive the demise as we go on with our lives. Not until it knocks on your door.
Thank you to does who are brave to share there experience.
We face it every day, but there have to be a breaking point to stop this from happening. What will our children do if they are faced with the issues we are facing now. Enough is a Enough
Thank you all for breaking the silence
60+ years and issues are still on constant replay for People of Colour who work within the NHS. Thanks to all of my colleagues for your courage and service. Maybe one day change will come 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you all! Thank you!
First Africans nurses should first dismantle the racism within themselves. This exposition is too late now. We saw all the massive demonstrations around the world during covid, did any of the black nurses came out to demonstrate? NO. BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO BUSY BACKBITING EACH OTHER. Deal with it first.
You are right.... Racism and internalised oppression is a real problem. However, Equality 4 Black Nurses has created a community of Black Nurses who are learning to overcome and unite in their shared trauma. Please check us out www.equality4blacknurses.com
Thanks to you nurses for risking and sacrificing your lives and your families's to safeguarding others. You are brave. To those that could not make it; may their souls rest in peace.
Incisive comments Rose with your professional colleagues on the pandemic and its impact in our society as well as managing its risk of affecting others .
Thank you to all nurses, students and midwives involved for your bravery and honesty
Thank you for this video 👏 This is very informative and should be looked into. I support this ✅ As overseas nurses government needs to look into a whole of things for us. Racism as well is a thing that needs to be taken seriously.
