Love the sound track!
Have you been back since mate?
Yeah I pass through there now and again
Lovely video what drone are you using
Cheers mate. It's a Mavic air 2
@@jimsmithmtb cheers
Nice blast that great drone footage
This looks like a more “friendly” track. Need to get up there ASAP
Yeah its the easiest one there, great for warming up on. Can't recommend the place enough though all the trials are great
So glad you turned right at 2:10 Love that section.
Yeah its a nice bit 👍🏻
Cool video mate
nice vid dude
Hi Jim, do you have a strava route/activity for this by any chance?
This is it mate www.strava.com/activities/5060546140
So jealous you’ve already taken delivery of your Rise ! Mine isn’t due til February and counting the days. Hope you’re enjoying it. Just wondering is that a Garmin you’ve got hooked up there ? If so what sort of attachment did you use and was it straight forward to sync with the Bike app ? Cheers
Yeah loving it 👍🏻Its a Garmin 820 attached with a K-Edge stem mount. Getting the Orbea RS app on there wasn't straightforward at all. I ended up having to factory reset it as it would not boot up and was just stuck at the loading screen. Since doing that though it's worked perfectly
Nice video. I wonder if you could help a a bit. I'm buying my first EMTB this year BUT I'm very undecided between Levo SL v.s. Orbea Rise. I have already ridden a Levo SL and I felt the bike was good but lacks in motor power by having only 35 NM's, I know the Rise is more powerful than the Levo but does it feel like having almost double power compared to the Levo?
I've not ridden the Levo sl so can't comment on that. This is my first Ebike so power seems enough for me. But I was riding with a friend who was on a full fat Levo and he would leave me on all the climbs. I'd say his eco setting was like my trail and his trail was like my turbo. The eco on the Rise is quite subtle
Hey Jim thank you for the reply, I've ridden the Levo SL but haven't ridden the Rise yet unfortunately so far my comparison term is also with a Full Fat Giant E-trance with 85nm's and there's so doubt there is a huge difference. I'm gonna keep on trying to understand if the Rise is or is not much stronger than the Levo SL I've tried if not I'll have to consider buying a Fullfat eMTB instead of my beloved Orbea Rise. ;) Cheers
@@CarlosAntunesMTB No problem mate. Have aread of this thread on Emtb forum www.emtbforums.com/community/threads/levo-sl-vs-orbea-rise-edit-update.18063/
@@jimsmithmtb Thank you so much mate. I've been reading it, very good debate btw. ;)
Awesome footage Jim!👌 Would love to know where these off piste bits start mate if u could share any light please? Think I’ve sussed the Allerston (2mins 30) bit, but are the other sections around that same area (outskirts of Dalby) or are they dotted all around Dalby?
If you search on Strava for Shoulder of mutton climb you'll find plenty to go at. Get to the top of that and turn right on to the main fire road there's trails off either side of that
@@jimsmithmtb Many thanks mate! I’ll certainly be checking that out. Just getting a bit bored of the Red route, so looking for a bit more spice!😉 The vids look mint Jim, many thanks for sharing
@@kerrygross1 you'll never do the red route again once you find the off piste stuff. 😂 If you have a look at my other vids there's a newer one from Dalby. A lot of those trails cross over that Shoulder of Mutton climb
Lovely stuff. Love riding in the peaks and looking to buy a Mavic Air 2 which lead me to this clip. I know the first three sections, and just about can recognise the 4thr one but not 100% sure. Is that the Cutthroat Bridge descent from WHinstone Lee?
Cheers mate 👍🏻 yeah you're right about the last one
@@jimsmithmtb 3mths on, all good so far with it? Pleased? I also need it mainly for MTB.
@@remdog7827 yeah really happy with it. Not used as much as I'd like while riding but that's down to where I mainly ride really. It's no good down tbe woods. Was looking forward to taking it to the Alps but with the current situation that didn't happen.
@@jimsmithmtb thats what I thought. it doesn't react fast enough to avoid branches. Shame about the Apls, that a real downer. I know how that feels because I was meant to be there at end of Aug too. I can only imagine the drone footage of the scenery at the top and then descending. Thats it, now I am sold on the bundle option. Expensive chat this one ;-)
@@remdog7827 😂 enjoy, look forward to some if your footage 👍🏻
2mins 30 where abouts can i get to it please
If you park at the Cayley Arms at Allerston and head up to Warren House Farm the trail runs parallel with that road. Once the trees end at the top of the climb you'll see the start of the trail. We usually save it for the end after doing the other off piste stuff
@@jimsmithmtb cheers mate I'm next village on from there good to know thanks for the reply bud
Hi very nice video; how do you mount the controller on the bike ? thank
I don't, I just put it in my bag
Awesome watch. single track paradise. I'll definately be visiting this place. Any tips when you arrive at carpark / direction. Cheers
Sorry for the late reply mate don't seem to be getting notifications for comments. Can't help you I'm afraid I was getting shown round by a friend who lives local.
Drone footage looks awesome in scenery like this, with great elevation🤗
Nice views🤗 I think it's sad they can't make you track with phone only. Easier sticking in the pocket. I'm considering the Parrot Anafi because of this. But I should test removing the sticks on my mavic air 1🤗
did that person pull there pants down @0:15 lol it looks like so there pants are black then it goes skin tone
😂 Yeah man she was just crouching down for a piss, god knows how she didn't see us coming........... or maybe she did? 🤔
Perfect location for active track on DJI. No obstacles lol
That was my thinking 👍🏻😃
Excellent vid, worked well when tracking set up to follow chap at back in red so all 3 in view. We’re you in sport mode or standard? Lastly, where in the peaks were those trails, can I have the gpx file 😀 ps my old mav pro is no where near as good when following me on my MTB.
Cheers. Yeah it was first time out so took a few goes to work out who was best to set the tracking on. Just had it in normal mode, weren't going quick enough for sport mode 😂. I don't have a gpx for the route but it's basically the Ladybower classic with a few cheeky descents off Win Hill thrown in
@@jimsmithmtb Cheers - funny re sport mode - looks like the Active track 3 works very well, the track 1 I have on my original mav pro is very unreliable. Re the trail - found it in trailforks so will take a ride out soon
Hi jim is this in the sport mode on active track buddy ? It’s shifting along quicker than I’ve seen on other vids . Love it 👌🏻❤️
Cheers mate, no it's in normal mode
Reyt trail, good that 👍
Hi dude great video , I use the mavic 2 can you tell me is this on active track ?
Yes mate 👍🏻
Nice video mate. Subd..Was looking at getting the Air 2, also for mtb footage. Have you tested it in trails in the woods yet ?
Cheers 👍🏻 not tried it in the woods with the bike yet. I don't think it would keep up to be honest . I've tried it on foot and it does a good job of navigating it's way through but I don't think it would react quick enough to follow you on a bike
@@jimsmithmtb Gone down the Gopro Max road instead.. will make a extension pole for my bike..
@@Paulmtb did you not fancy the insta 360?
@@jimsmithmtb nahhh.. Didn't like the big dead spot where it stitches the video together. Also thought the picture was better on gopro.
@@Paulmtb look forward to seeing some the footage 👍🏻
Hi Jim! cool shots! Your active tracking video looks faster than most other videos i saw with the AIR2 ... is APAS on? or did you switch it off for faster speeds? ...I have the mavic AIR1 and now the AIR2 and i'am still not 100% sure if I should keep it because of the lack of side sensors and not that fast active tracking with APAS on. I would use the drone mostly for moutainbiking, like you (in my country a mostly more trees than in your place :D), freesking and climbing in the alps. Did you track in the last few shoots the last rider? Is this the best option to ride in a group? thx, Patrick
Hi I just had it set in normal mode so apas was on. It was the first time out with it so was a bit of trial and error on who to track. Settled on the back rider in the end
What types of bikes are these? Great footage btw
Cheers 👍🏻 all 3 of us are on Santa Cruz
Is the drone set to track you with you carrying a receiver?
You set it on your phone screen that's attached to the controller. Just draw a box round whatever you want to track and it then locks on to that target
@@jimsmithmtb 😎👍
Jim Smith I’ve got a Mavic pro and have also done active track on the same trails - My issue isn’t using active track but where to put the controller? At the moment I have it mounted via a GoPro handlebar mount which is perfect to hold the controller but not my iphone 11 as well. I can’t see your controller so where do u keep it as we both know active track isn’t perfect on any drone lol
@@MTBTrailAdventures I just stick the controller in my Camelbak, with the sticks removed I might add after learning the hard way with a previous drone 😂
Awesome footage cracking watch👍
This at Kirkby?
Cracking video mate. Absolute beast of a ride!
Yeah the legs are feeling it today
Nice riding fella. Rim dinger is such a tech trail and you nailed 👍
Cheers mate 👍🏻
Really want to ride round Lordstones, looks class mate! Which route did you do?
Just did the same route I did when I last went up. www.strava.com/activities/3161827680

Nicely ridden Jim! New bike looks like its riding nice!!!
Cheers mate. Yeah I'm well impressed with it. Loads better descending than than the old one without sacrificing anything else
tidy trail
It's a beauty mate 👍🏻
That was an awesome run guys! 🤙🏽
matte thats sick! which is the descent that starts at 2:05? that looks mega
Cheers mate. It's called "X-road trail to Brinks Road gate" on Strava
Sick footage mate, tramming on there 👌
Cheers man 👍🏻
Nice mate! Sick descent that one.
Nice riding jimmy but u had more than enough speed to clear those gap jump
I know I can do em but I always bottle it :-)
