I have been wondering how your treatments were going. Hopefully cancer will be gone. I do pray for you and healing.
Treatments are going. In the 4th week right now. I won't know if all is good until after the fact and get another scan. 🤞🏼 Thank you Donna ❤️
Its too much of drama ..... In my city , it is done in much easier manner 😅😅😅
Please explain
But at what point-and how- is the inscription engraved?
At 6:04. Aluminum Oxide (sand substitute) begins blast engraving through the rubber stencil. If you're interested, I posted another video with full description narration here: th-cam.com/video/riSnixStUeA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rFaKHIuhQsNaa8x2
A nice looking stone. Having the right tools makes it all look too easy.
Absolutely. Hard to pound a nail with a screwdriver lol. Thanks for watching!
I now can understand the high cost of a headstone
Price mostly varies from monument companies, region you're in, funeral home commission and other things. That stone was (if memory serves me right) under $2000. And that's including the travel fee (cemetery delivery) and setting the stone on a concrete foundation.
what is that mask, you’re wearing
I believe the respirator is the 3M 6000 half mask, the hood is a protective blast hood from a sandblast supply company.
Showing everything and telling nothing.
This video wasn't made for the amount of attention it received. Lots of comments similar to yours convinced me to re-release it with narration. th-cam.com/video/riSnixStUeA/w-d-xo.html
Wow lot of hard & skillful work! I used to be in the business of Onyx vases, I understand & appreciate the hard work that goes with stone works.
Thank you very much! And thanks for watching!
That's at least $9000 dollars for a rock with a name
What?! Not even close. Wow
The question us why do we bury people and why would anyone waste the money for a headstone.
Those are good questions. Perhaps your definition of "memorial" and those who are more traditional, differ slightly.
It's not for the dead, it's for the living
@@kevns689 exactly
Can you tell me what substance you applied to increase the adhesion of the mask?
A glue the owner uses and thins with mineral spirits. I wasn't privy to the glue or the mix. I do know he buys it from milessupply.com
Don’t fuck around with dust people. Wear proper respirators.
What do you recommend?
Great job Al. This video answered a lot of questions I had after watching the first one. Can most shops custom design the stencil or are they standard designs from a catalog?
Those are standard designs but any design can be added. I've seen hand written letters turned into an engraving in stone.
Is good to know learn un officio E ven better of none sabotaging your every seconds
Thanks for watching!
That's great. NOW, go back 200 years.

Thank you
My sister went through radiation treatments for breast cancer in 2021. Being a tender area to start with, she was totally fried after 5 treatments a week for 12 weeks. She told me a couple weeks ago that her skin is still tender and it looks gross. Nasty stuff, but if you want to survive … I’m still praying for your recovery, Al. Take it one day at a time and stay focused on your kids - they need their Dad, and that’s all that counts.
Absolutely. My kids are my motivation. First and foremost. And thank you! I appreciate your support. Believe it or not, a random person saying something nice to another random person restores faith in humanity for my kids to see. They read these and are surprised by the positive feedback. Thank you
Awww! You are so welcome! Knowing that makes us feel good! We happened to see a few of the stone videos, we both got very emotional when you said you had cancer, and right then and there we lifted you in prayer. God, in His way of doing things, asked me to “stay tuned” to your channel. My wife jumped in on the party, as she and I usually do our “God talking” together. She pointed out to me this morning that cancer is 1 “thing”, right? My wife, myself and you are 3 “things”- you’re already ahead, buddy!! We committed ourselves to hanging in here at your channel to offer prayers and support - from one stranger to another*. Cancer sucks, the treatment sucks worse, but God is way bigger than cancer will ever be. Hold very fast to that truth, Al. I’ve seen Him work miracles in my life, my wife’s life, our friend’s lives, and in plenty of people we don’t actually know, but we have heard their need and we have committed ourselves to ask God to heal them. I don’t know what God’s will is for your lIfe anymore than I don’t know what His will is for my life, but we get on our knees every morning and every night and talk to God about a lot of things, including Al and his family and his friends. It’s the least we can do for you. *Are we really strangers? My mother was born in Sebring, and had a lot of family from Lima, Calcutta, East Palestine and Achor (also called Achortown). It’s possible!
I'm impressed. Had no idea how it was done. But reading some of the other comments makes me laugh. Some think Fred Flintstone should be still using a hammer and chisel while others wonder why George Jetson can't just push a button to do it. You can't win.
Well, good thing I don't live to impress anyone other than my kids. Ya can't make everyone happy all of the time.
@@night_al I'm sure you help those looking up at your work, rest in peace.
I had my radiologist prescribe SILVADENE creme to help with the burning on my neck around week four. You may want to ask about it before you get too roasted. Hang tough and I'll be pulling for you !
I'll ask about that for sure. All they gave me so far was 5% Dimethicone cream. Working so far. And thanks for the support! I appreciate that!

Nice. In my country usually use cnc stone etching.
That's a terrible font, especially the capital W. Soulless, computerised lettering with no true skill.
That's the typical font on 99% of stones in this area. And has been for decades. When you have yours made, you can choose whatever font you'd like.
No, it looks very good.
comic sans?😄

Me: It's my wedding day!!! TH-cam feed: Me: TH-cam feed: Gravestones :)
🤣 Way to go algorithm lol
And that's a wrap for ol' Butch. A rock and some Rust-Oleum is all you'll have to know he was here.
That headstone is only closure. What evidence he was here is his legacy.
Not impressed that looks like cheap job with spray paint and no depth to the letters
6:04 blasting begins and does cut into the stone adding depth. The Lithochrome paint is the final touch. Thanks for watching
Blessings and strength to you!
Thank you for the comment! I appreciate that.
The supervisor appears twice to lend a much needed helping hand.
🤣 He just wanted to be on camera after he saw me recording lol
Dude! I can’t watch these things - they make me so dizzy I have to hold on to a chair or something to slow the earth down!! How are you doing, Other than being bored enough to post silly things? 😊 You look and sound great!!
Doing good so far. Only 3 weeks in. 4 more to go. Yeah, def bored away from home lol.
WA-Wa-wa-waaaa...
😂
Interesting process. I really had no idea how this went down. 😊
Thanks for watching!
😂😂
No wonder it takes 6 weeks or more to get one made. Its just one dude doing all the work.
That's truth.
chicken 1st. grain 2nd. chicken 3rd. fox 4th. chicken 5th.
Nailed it!
Nice shirt. Good joke too
That's my official Weird Al concert shirt! Saw him in Memphis Oct 2022! Finally! Only took 28 years lol. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
You got me! I thought fox 1st, then grain, then chicken. Or grain, fox, chicken. I totally forgot what would happen with the other 2 being left on the first side of the river! Well done!
Thanks for watching! Glad I could stump ya 😉
Matthew 22:30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
I don't know you or anything about your channel. This video just showed up randomly a minute ago in my feed. I will be 100% honest with you. This will be a tough few months (7 weeks of treatments plus recovery) - but you are tougher than chemo and radiation. And tougher than cancer. I had the exact same cancer last year. Same treatments. Week 4 was when I wondered if I could get through it. Week 5 the radiation closed my throat so completely that I had to get a G-Tube put in in order to 'eat'. By week 7 I had lost my ability to taste and my salivary glands stopped working. I lost 40lbs. down from 220. It was pretty miserable. However, about 3 months after treatments ended I was able to taste fresh fruit again. The feeding tube came out. Then I could taste coffee. Then saliva started to come back. By month 5 I was eating about 85% normal. I still couldn't taste junk food but that was ok. One year later, I am eating normally, regaining too much weight! My CT and MRI and PT are all coming back clean and I look forward to more good news to come. You'll get through this. I did it, you will too. Hang tough and I'll be pulling for you.
I appreciate your comment. Thank you! I know this whole process already, I went through it in 2021. It came back. The treatments are much more aggressive this time around, I can say that. I hope you don't go through it again. Thank you again for the comment and thanks for watching
@@night_al Sorry to hear that this is round two. It's a raw deal but you'll get through it.
Makes me question the cost when a mom on Etsy can lay a stencil and use a machine to sandblast.
Obviously more than what an "Etsy" mom would charge
That’s really impressive seeing each step of stone engraving. Lots of stone preparation, raw skills in aligning letters, handling heavy work piece, safety conscious, and great work ethics👍
Thank you so much! And thanks for watching!
When i was a kid we used to have to cut the stone from the rock face ourselves using wet sand and rope then chisel the entire lineage of our deceased loved ones using a copper chisel and wooden hammer. Kids today got it so easy and don't even know it 😜😜😜😜😜
I'm aware how much easier it is now!
As someone who blasts stones for a living, this is not how it’s done. This is sketchy as sin.
I'd love to entertain that thought but considering I've done it this way for almost 10 years, then the owner who has done it this way for more than half a century, not to mention the other monument shops in the area do it this way, I'd say that the only thing sketchy here is your comment. Thanks for watching!
Another internet troll just claiming to be stone blaster, instead of stone carver!
Seemingly lol

This cannot be good for your health! Technology better find a safe and better way of engraving tomb stones soon!👎🇨🇦👎🇨🇦
Godspeed Butch
Good ol Uncle Butch!!
Was this actually your blood relative?
I'd kill to be able to make a headstone like that
I always thought it was done with a hammer and chisel.
Not always
Is your last name "Flintstone" by any chance?
