I am located in USDA Zone 4 close to the Minneapolis area. Our growing season is short so I have learned to make the most of it.

@@JohnmacMac Please see Houseplant playlist. I will start more indoor videos soon. Winter in coming.
This is what I'm doing, but I have laurel too❤
@SarahSmith-nr2wj What zone are you in?
Do you continue to water junipers' in pots during the winter??
No. Once ground freezes they will be dormant until Spring.
@@naturebluegardens mine are not in the ground. They are in concrete pots.
Depending on what zone you are in the concrete pots can Crack. When I refer to ground it is just a reference point. My pots are above ground.
@naturebluegardens Got ya. My concrete pots have been outside for years. First winter for the plants but in SC they are short and not too cold. I'll just keep them watered a bit.
Do u sow them in a cold frame?
That is what I showed in video.
@@naturebluegardens I couldn’t tell if it was a cold frame or not and it was never mentioned so I just wanted to be sure. I’m definitely going to try this! Thank You!
@@angiemadisondean6808 Thanks for the feedback.
Could you please explain what area to cut from the burning bush?
I stay with 1st year growth. You can see diameter of cutting in video. The older woody stems may still work but will take longer. I like keeping cuttings under 6 inches.
Thanks for the great video!
Glad you liked it.
Are they didn't bite?
@@XiangXD2091 No. Not that kind of Caterpillars
Nature is full of surprises.
Retired horticulturist here...remember to always save your seeds in a paper envelope and label them .The only time I put them in a plastic bag is to put them in the freezer.I have sproted some icelandic poppies my mil kept in the freezer for a few years- wrapped in a paper towel in a plastic bag. I only got a few to sprout and grow though. If you put them in a closed plastic baggie at room temp they tend to get moldy and rot. Remember you will lose about 10% of your overall viability in the amount of seed you have if they are not planted for every year that goes by.
Thanks for contributing. I plan on keeping them in cold storage and cycling them in and out to force sprout early.
"Br'er rabbit, he lay low." ... Uncle Remus 😊
Only 1?
@@julianaq13 The rest ran off. That's how I found them.

A little baby kitten. Baby rabbits are pretty cute
I think so too!
First time Lavender girl - and if you already have a video on this, just let me know and I’ll go watch it instead. We have one night in next 10 days that is predicted high 70/low 49. The rest are higher 70s/low mid 50s. I was going to transplant my lavender to ground this weekend, but then I saw those temps. Would you recommend I wait, or go ahead but take cuttings too? Mine is still very much free and full, so wasn’t sure. (Just starting to research it, and you were first that I felt comfortable asking 😊)
Ohhh just noticed the Boxwoods too - I’ve been trying to propagate those for a few weeks. So far, they haven’t shown much growth at all. Any tips?
@jamee_maree What zone are you in?
When is it the best time to collect Amur Maple seeds? When is it the best time to collect it? When is it the best time? When?
When they are due to release. My drop off trees in Spring.
I just found 7 on our parlsey plant. I had the parley inside due tot a cold snap but I put it back outside. Evidently they love parsley!
@@jenniferwang3489 yes they do. I plant it specifically for them. Also check your carrots.

Did those lemon cypresses survive
No. I missed a watering. If I try again will be in June for cuttings.
What do I do with the long branches that shoot up?
@@angelinakalijarviPrune them back again if you want. I like to keep rounding the plant. It is normal to have this growth when pruning.
Hello from Ontario Canada! Thank you for this video. I'm struggling with my Boomerang. She's kind of being suffocated by my poorly pruned forsythia. 😅
@@angelinakalijarvi Hello Canada. I should probably prune mine again. It looks great but is huge.
Beautiful❤ this flower
@@vinaykumarvadlamudi6034 Thank you
Can you prune it into a small, multi-trunk tree?
@JoseMartinez-df2db I believe you can cloud prune it but not sure it will flower.
Euonymus alatus is kinda slow to grow. Some of the spindles are much faster but this one is worth it. Late August here in Ireland and I'm waiting for the roaring red.
@@mollie3244 Hello Ireland!
Dang. I need to get me some sphagnum moss. My nub will probably rot in water
I was left with a little green nub with a few healthy roots but no leaves. I put it in a testube to see what happens
Let me know
I have questions for you, do Amur Maple (Acer ginnala) tree seeds need Stratification in order to germinate? Do they need Stratification? Yes or no? How long do Amur Maple seeds take to germinate? How long does it take?
Yes. They stay on trees here all winter and only drop once Spring arrives.
That is a flower
Thank YOU. I love people like you.
You are welcome
Mine is looking like that but has no roots, u cleaned everything and put in clean soil now with rooting hormone, hopefully it survives 😢
Im so scared of caterpillars!! Ugh!
Oh no.
Do you bring your trees Inside in the winter time or do you leave them outside?
I leave them out. They need chill hours to fruit. I pile mulch over rootball.
Hi Can I do a major on my Prune Bloomerang Lilac in the fall live in Ottawa Canada
Yes. Should be 6 weeks before hard frost to allow new growth to harden off. It won't kill the plant but may slow flowers for next year.
@@naturebluegardens thanks very much for the information that you gave me greetings from Canada 🇨🇦
@@chrisjenett Thank you for watching.
That was one of the best educational videos I've ever watched. I had no idea you could / should prune pine trees. I think I will buy one of these trees this year and now I won't worry so much if it isn't perfect. :) www.northlandnursery.com/_files/ugd/ab3908_2c2182215eb5453d960a81be64d4693e.pdf

Perfect. Just the info & demo I was looking for. Thanks!
i left my 3 little pine trees alone and now theyre about 6 or 7 ft tall but im going to attempt to keep them that height now

Sweet looking plants. Are these "butterfly delphiniums" the same as the butterfly bush. I notice the same sort of tall flower but with a totally different leaf. Nice garden; my back aches just knowing what you put into it. Keep the info coming...thumbs up for sure.
@craigdylan3953 Butterfly Delphinium is a short Delphinium with electric blue flowers. No relation to butterfly bush.

How long do you keep the peace lily submerged under water before transplanting into a pot?

i keep mine in large pots they are as tall as i am and hoping they get taller. i only trim after they bloom and only the bloom stem. cannot get over how full of blooms it makes it for the following spring. wish i could attach a pic.
Interesting. What zone are you in?
@@naturebluegardens MICHIGAN, THINK IM A 6. I HAVE LEARNED THEY ARE THE ONLY LILAC THAT DOES WELL IN POTS. MISS KIMS THAT IS. u can shape them by pruning to get a tree look. thats how i do mine and by training new limbs with clips.
I like that idea. Thank you for sharing.
@@naturebluegardens ill email u a pic from when they bloomed in spring.
Don't use chemicals. Birds are very sensitive to them. Just scrub with a brush. It won't be spotless but clean enough for the wildlife.
Please site your reference so people are not confused. Scrubbing does not kill the algae. My reference came from University recommendations.
The best is elbow grease..😂no chemicals
.
CLR works as well
