I find it baffling how you literally just debunk your own points by admitting that the counter points to everything you said are understandable. People don't just dislike it because it's not like other paper mario games, but because there are also tons of problems with the game that you just try to pretend aren't that bad because you mindless run around enjoying its game feel completely oblivious to its lack of depth. This is case of you liking a bad product, not people hating a good one. You liking it is perfectly fine though and you're doing nothing wrong whatsoever, but literally anyone who's seen chuggaaconroy's review on the game will know for an absolute shadow of a doubt that this game is awful (about 80% of the time). Also don't try to justify a games short length or lack of replayability just because it's on a handheld console. The only limitation there really was back in the 3DS days where its graphics. People aren't even hellbent over the length to begin with and it's not even the MAIN point people make when criticizing the game

I loved three houses but when i got an itch to play fire emblem recently i was put off by the monastery busywork. Bought Engage and loving how streamlined and battle focused it is. I thought the rings would be stupid but theyre actually great, the animations are so good and controversially I love the OTT character designs. I agree the story is totally boring and on balance I think 3H is the better game but engage is absolutely perfect for when you just want to battle.

I love you for making this video dude. It’s fucked up how much people hate on this lovely romp.

sticker star is a bad game but for me i still think the game is fun and think is the third best paper mario (not including ttyd remake) and when i know what thing to use in the levels its fun to use the lesser used things and seeing theirs animations (also i think stickers are fun as a how they look and ordering the album is fun)

Sticker Star was my first Paper Mario game so I was too blind to see any problems. I just thought that it was a trial-and-error game with how you needed certain Things to beat certain bosses. Here's how I would improve Sticker Star: You can always Jump or Hammer, even if you don't have any stickers. Stickers are one-time-use more powerful versions of these basic attacks, or new attacks. Though you can beat every non-boss battle without Stickers if you don't want to. These new stickers can include... Jump stickers: Iron Jump (for spiky enemies), Infinijump (for a lot of chip damage), Ground Pound (double damage!), Line Jump (for multiple enemies) Hammer stickers: Baahammer (makes enemies fall asleep), Blazehammer (burn damage), Icehammer (ice damage), Aquahammer (water damage), Throw Hammer (for flying enemies) Healing Items (obviously) Projectiles: Hammer, Koopa Shell, Wii Remote (without the Wrist Strap), etc. *Shiny, Flashy, and Megaflash versions of all Stickers will be better versions Things will always be found in the area they're needed, or an adjacent level.

I'm sorry man, I try to keep an open mind, but this just aint it. You could maybe say with something like Mario & Luigi Paper Jam is actually a good game but not good in the context of its series, but Sticker Star? Nah dude, its just a terrible game even in a vacuum. It completely butchers the basics of fun game design and is fundamentally flawed to its very core.

Well its not a bad game, but its a bad paper maruo game.

This was the very first Paper Mario game I played but I could never finish it because my 12yo self was too stupid to figure out how to progress in the forrest part

The only thing I needed to hear in this video was 'This was my first Paper Mario game" and everything before it made sense.

I never played SS, but did watch a let's play of CS and played OK first hand, so overall I have a positive outlook on the modern Mario Party games as a whole. While Sticker Star may be hated, I greatly respect you for putting out a fine video on why the game isn't as bad as people say it is.

I get your point... Complains in the internet can be dumb... But... You literally explains why it's a bad game. Like when you admits that the game is short and that's one reason that made it so linear. This is an artificial way to "enlarge" the game. And no one REALLY complains really about Bowser, PM64 and M&L both have GREAT Bowser fights on their ways. You just explain how it's kinda playable and just SOME people can enjoy it. I could do the same with SPM. But in general, EVERYTHING is worse than in the previous entries. It's not the worst game in history, some people still can enjoy it. But still is a bad Paper Mario game. And the worst in the franchise.

I do not think this game is a good idea to reference to someone new to RPG's, and I don't even mind the game much. But it's definitely a 'puzzle platformer' that in practice is a combination of platforming, turn-based combat, and mostly old school adventure game mechanics. The last one is a big reason people find this game so frustrating as the genre has gone from huge to essentially a niche outside of easier grade school & edutainment games for a reason; I've seen a lot of the annoying aspects this game does supplemented by action/adventure over decades. And while I do think the core base mechanic of finding hidden things and interacting with the paper environment is interesting and even fun, neither Sticker Star or Color Splash stick the execution right to avoid all the pitfalls old adventure games fell into too (and Color Splash introduced its own problems to the formula) The expectation of fulfilling the standards of an RPG, let alone Paper Mario's is just bitter icing to the cake.

this game was the first paper mario i played, i really loved this game when i was younger but having played ttyd super and even origami king after have made me realize while this game was good on its own it sort of ruined the charm and gameplay of the series, especially in comparison to ttyd and super , such amazing games which made me understand where original fans came from
