“You see, ‘alcohol’ in Latin is ‘spiritus’ and you use the same word for the highest religious experience as well as for the most depraving poison. The helpful formula therefore is: spiritus contra spiritum.”
~ Carl Jung, his letter to Bill W., in Letters of C. G. Jung Vol. 2, p. 625
Despite all scientific research and learning, advanced drugs and medications, and advances in psychology and psychotherapy, the advice that Carl Jung gave one of his patients, a Mr. Roland H., in the early 20th century is now widely recognized as being the most effective treatment of alcoholism and addiction that has yet been discovered. Jung told Roland H. that his condition was hopeless unless “he could become the subject of a spiritual or religious experience.” Strange advice coming from a medical professional, but it not only inspired Roland H. to finally give up alcohol, but has become one of the core principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. What did Jung mean by this statement? Why are addicts often able to overcome their addictions through twelve step programs when no other methods seem to be as effective? How do these methods relate to Jung’s process of individuation and the problem of evil? How do these ideas relate to trauma, neurobiology and attachment theory? We explore these questions and more in this college-level course on Jung and addiction. Throughout this course we explore how Jung and other Jungians have understood addiction and compulsivity, and we compare these approaches to contemporary scientific and social scientific approaches.

Thanks for the hard work, youve given us a gold mine! 👍
So glad to have found your site. Thanks
What I understand is that archetypes are a psycho- biological component of the human experience and that they’re a part of the *biology of the human brain* rather than the culture of any particular group, region or era. In essence, archetypes are part of what makes us human
Will you do a talk on Kung and Myers briggs? ❤would so love to hear you talk on this! You spoke about the four functions and would love to hear a whole talk! Thank you
Trust, Faith, Power, Accuracy, Gratitude, Gnosis
Is the full course available anywhere online?
Thank you for this - Jung #INFJ is rare so schools would not want to teach his understandings as a routine offering as they are foreign to brains that process info in a different way - and to renew your mind is a difficult task- HE IS GRRRRREAT - thanks for offering a different view - will donate soon 🌟❣️
❤
Why did this show up for me to view o yeah I’m a wounded healer 😭😞
Next ...Learn what an Ego inflation is.
@carolweltee6752 why do I trigger you ! Shame on you and I wish you love 🙏
@@Sheislove144 It applies to all of us. I'll delete my comment. But, an inflation is what being a human brings on. I assumed you were familiar with Jung's teachings and were ready for the inflation. Shame on me and you "love" me ? It's not about me or you because it's Archetypal.
Where can I get this course?
My second oraculist occupant I studied is the modern astrology, but for personal reasons, I chose for the traditional astrology, but i would start to learn vedic modern astrology, I am curious if Jung influcied the vedic modern astrology. Sorry for my English
To my knowledge, Jung did not study Vedic astrology. His focus was Western astrology. He began his study by reading Alan Leo who was popular at that time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Leo
Wonder-full
Soul Grateful❤
Thank you so much for putting this class together. I have been studying Jung ideas on my own, I am very excited about this structured class, is clear and the pace is perfect for me. Thank you for contributing to the collective evolution through this sharing of your knowledge🙏🏼

I’m very grateful for these comprehensive videos. They address so many issues.
Great lecture, thanks for publishing
oh how our astrology is more than a sun sign if people would only actually study it they would see its purpose , it gave me light when trapped in the darkness of pure logic and cptsd ,where rationalization and defense mechanisms was the only way to maintain sanity , needing to find a answer a solution but how do you find a solution to the past what answer will make it right Astrology (and psychology) showed me everything so all i could do is accept not blame others nor myself its simply Gods will for better or worst
Sending you all the love and support we really appreciate your efforts on sharing this precious knowledge
Thank you
How can i take the remaining courses. Very interesting. Thank you

LOVE IT !!! THANKS !!! 🥰🤩🥰 In mid-70's is when I became introduced to Jung when was part of co-founders to the Toronto Guild of Astrologers. Most of the main founders were all professors of astro-physics and astronomy too as well was many conversations about Jung.
Thank you so much for this, much appreciated!

Healing... the problematic/sick ego?
I pleased with your presentation! I'm a practicing stronger since 1970, and Have studies Jung in depth, The archetypes derived from countless astrological charts, many from his patients. When horoscope are drawn out they create patterns that can be seen. The outer planets show the times of world events, and generational leaning. Do I control my Stars, or do they control me! Co-Vid and Pluto , reflected back to great flu of 1917. Time of world change! We can easy see how we are all in this process. Nothing will be "normal" anymore, as transformation is rebirth. I've also learned Tarot from Jung. Thank you for your honesty and open-mindedness in asking for any additions we astrologers and counselors having used this tool, may bring to the discussions.
For an interesting, and even entertaining, introduction to the two-million year old within us, watch "Homo erectus: International Man of Mystery," by Dr. Jim Watson, Arizona State Museum, here on TH-cam. Jung was right in saying our hominid psyches go back that far.
Thank you
I cannot believe how lucky I am to have stumbled upon this video ... I have been waiting 40 years to hear this lecture. Thank you ❤️
Jung and Aby warburg had a very same approach in knitting socio-cultural images together to understand their time.

Hello, This course will happen again?
All of the courses you have provided on TH-cam have made my familiarization/refamiliarization with Jung, depth psych, and ideas on consciousness extremely digestible. This continues to make social interactions and understanding what’s going on in our world more intriguing, wholesome, and meaningful! It’s like a reminder on what it means to be a human being. Lot of cliche sounding stuff in this comment but it’s true 🤝
Thank you all for sharing your insights on what's going on in the world. So much needed. And thanks for the ideas on the importance of ritual. I will put my stone in the water of sorrow. With gratitude. Charo.
