Badass
It's a beautiful spot. The cave is about 3 miles away. It is incredible. Should have that video up soon. Three of us are heading out on Friday to ride the chattahooche bdrx on the bikes.
We are heading down Thurs for our first trip there.. 👍👍👍
@@doc_teamwaxoffroad I really liked it. Super nice views and a lot of water crossings. We did the ride to Mandy's Cave on Coppinger Cove. The cave is awesome, but it's a really slow ride to get there with all of the river rock. We spent too much time riding ṭo the cave. Next trip up, we will be strictly riding Coalmont. Have fun and ride safe!
Day 2 of Coalmont and Coppinger Cove coming up soon!
Good idea to ride right and don't park in the middle of the road.
Thank you very much for your review! I had Gaia years ago and liked it because every road or path was on it, but I liked the ease of navigation and planning with RW GPS better at the time. Looks like RW GPS is still ahead in that arena. Also, I noticed that RW GPS will not let me plan a ride across a road or mountain pass, for instance, if that road or pass is closed, let's say due to snow. Do you know if Gaia has that feature? Thanks again!
@@damerowr you are welcome and that is a good question. Since I live in Georgia I did not even know that the Ride with GPS had that option on closed passes. Back in March when we rode the Smoky Mountains in 500 I was running strictly off of g a i a. That app did not tell me that some of the Forest roads were not open yet. To be honest I'm not sure if there was a way to set that up on Gaia or not in about 3 weeks we are going to run the new Chattahoochee bdrx. The thing that I like about the Ride with GPS is that I've been able to sit down and see exactly what roads are gravel and what roads are pavement . I will definitely keep the Ride with GPS and renew that subscription next year, the Gaia subscription is up and about the same time. At that point I'll make a decision if I'm going to keep both apps. If you find out about the road closures on Gaia please let me know
What is the triangle piece attached to your throttle?
@richardstockwell4862 it's a cheap cruise control lock from Amazon. The guy that I bought the bike from put it on. They work okay. Rarely use it since I rarely get on open highway. I believe that they are around $10.00. Slide it forward, and it rests against the front brake lever. Twist the throttle forward, and it unlocks it.
Thank you. I was under the impression it was something like a cramp buster
Nice video, just found you and subscribed. I’m local to you ironically. Just got back from Suches this past weekend. Keep it up.
@jeffga3305 Thanks, and good to hear that you are local. Just met another rider that is local as well. Whenever you get a chance, hit me up with your info, and let's see if we can put together some rides. letatraining@gmail.com Mike
Thanks for the video. I was having a hard time deciding on if I wanted to try these but now I'm confident that t rex crash bars are exactly what I want for my klr. Good video and very informative.
@thatguy-fu1ig thank you! I've dropped the bike on a couple of dirt roads, and they hold up great. Just hit the gravel rash with a quick brush of sandpaper and paint over flat black.
Nice video! My dad and I are hoping to head up there in November. I'm surprised at how clear your voice is even when you're riding on the highway. No wind buffeting or anything. What kind of helmet do you have?
@kylerjohnson988 thank you! I use a combination of a modular and mx bike helmets. Qualities are about the same with either helmet. I am running a GP 11 with the sound mod. For the microphone, I use the Purple Panda with the fluffy "dead cat" mic cover that it comes with. From what I've found, the key is getting the dead cat as close to your mouth as possible. If you go with the panda set up, you have to use the provided trrs female to trs male adapter to plug into the GP mod in order to get sound.
@kylerjohnson988 also, we might be doing a ride there in November as well. We were trying for October, but work schedule didn't fit one guys schedule. I just worry about how cold November might be.
@@off-roadridingadventures7129 thanks for the info! Awesome, maybe we’ll run into each other. We’ll probably start at Two Wheels like y’all did. The temperatures are usually 50-70 degrees during the day that time of year but the nights can get down to low 30s (from looking at weather data). I live just south of Atlanta so those temperatures are a little colder than it’ll be here just due to elevation, but that sounds about right. My dad will be coming up from near the Florida Georgia line so he’s used to much warmer temps. We’re also heading to the Bike Week Fall Rally in Myrtle Beach from 9/30-10/4, though, so we’re not sure we can pull off another one in November but we’re gonna shoot for it.
Where are you south of Atl? I live in Fayette County, but also have a lake place down on Sinclair in Hancock County.
@@off-roadridingadventures7129 I live in Senoia, but I’m actually closer to Peachtree City. I’m a little over 2 miles from the Wilshire Pavilion so I’m just across the county line. Where do you ride around here? I’ve been trying to find time to ride the Juliette loop and the Ocmulgee Camp loop since they aren’t too far from us.
All black KLR is best KLR , looks zombie apocalypse .
@leeinwis yeah I love the subdued camo pattern. Although, I will say that the lime green is pretty sharp as well!
Nice job! Looks like a great setup.
@jimolson8810 thank you very much. If I hadn't been impatient, I could have got my neighbor down at the lake to mill the blocks for cleaner cuts. I only saved about $80 bucks by not buying the comm made set up, but it was a fun little project.
Hard angle to negotiate those tracks.
@@davidmann2988 yeah they are at a bad angle, but looking back, speed probably played a factor as well. The road conditions were pretty bad. Same rider t boned me at 30 mph while I was making a u turn on the mabdr last month. He admitted that he was looking off into the field on the left and not paying attention to the road. Luckily he missed the guy stopped behind me and I caught the brunt of it. Two rides and two crashes, so it's safe to say, that he won't be riding with our group or hopefully any others in the future.
Really enjoy your videos. I just picked up a 24 KLr base model in June and looking forward to doing the MABDR. I am new to dual sport bikes, and find your videos very informative. I was wondering if you are still happy with the Tusk D-sport/Michelin tire combo and what tire pressure do you run, I'm at 1200 miles on my stock tires and want to upgrade your setup looks really good. Thanks
@mountainman54 thank you Brother! Yes, still happy with the combo, but I think that the Michelin is wearing a little faster than I had hoped for. A couple of buddies are running the Dunlop D606 on the rear and they are really happy with that tire. I think that will be my next rear. The Tusk up front is holding up really well. Especially for the price! Where are you located? We are starting to look at another run on the Smokey Mountains 500 since we didn't get to complete it last time.
@@off-roadridingadventures7129 Im in Winchester Va, thanks for the information looking forward to more of your videos
The right side is the worst. It's a slanted bottom and that's why most bikes eat it. They take the shallow and gentle looking side and it's one of the worst. The middle track is like a washboard and is hard to keep any front tire traction. The left track is the easiest, but it's D E E E E E E E P. Usually, the presence of Jeeps or Trucks on the trail makes the ruts worse for motorcycle for a few hours until the bottom fills back in.
@user-ge7yi1et5heli4s-b we did the 500 back in March, but because of a time delay on that stage we bypassed Witt Road. May had back the end of next month.
Those tracks there in MacCaysville are bad when wet as you found out. Also, if you head to Telico planes from there, same deal with train tracks near Coker.
As always another brilliant detailed video 🇺🇲🎉🍾🇺🇲
Thank you!
This is the filming location for Fried Green Tomatoes.
@ebenbernal457 yes it is! Cool little historical town.
Fantastic video 🇺🇲🍾🎉🇺🇲 Next video, give a little more focus on the group motorcycles brand and if any modifications were done. Keep producing more videos(also if you could share the rpm gear while riding)
Spent the last 30 years riding that area…. Blood mountain and suches. Good stuff
@davidmann2988 thank you! Suches to Robbinsville is an incredible route! I'm probably go back to run just that leg up and back again very soon!
Nice video. But you keep calling the Cherohala Skyway 129. Not the same roads.
@Kruser1400 I'm not sure which part of the video that you are referring too, but we did ride the Cherohala up to the big loop as well as 129.
@@off-roadridingadventures7129 I know you rode the Cherohala. But you called it 129 twice in the video.
I have a 2022 adventure and I'm at about 9600 miles now.. I have so many mods done to mine now it's silly.. still a KLR 😂 I love mine
@billysharp2242 I still need to add barkbusters, and I should be good for a while! Safe riding my friend!
10k in a year isn't bad
Are helmets required?
@JayDubs875 not in sxs's. I believe on quads, but I'm not sure that they enforce that rule unless it's kids riding.
Thank you for posting this
Thank you and you are welcome! We have a group of five heading to Damascus, VA on Sunday. We are going to ride four days on the Mid Atlantic Back Road Discovery Route next week!
Somewhere between 11:50 & 13:00, I'd say your lead man ran out his turn signal fluid.😊 I enjoyed this video quite a bit. Nice roads. I'd love to hit 'em with my DR650. Thanks for the footage. "Thumbs up" from this ole Kentucky boy!👍
You have a sharp eye! I never noticed that on the T dub. The section from Two's to Robbinsville is an incredible leg. We leave next Sunday and head to Damascus, and we are starting a four day ride on the Mid Atlantic bdr. Michael is all healed up from dropping his DR on the second day and will be riding with us. Let us know when you want to ride!
What to the other 4, looks like only 3 finished, I know one crashed?
@martypowell4395 There was a total of seven of us that started. One wrecked on day two. The other two guys did all highway on day two because of the rain. We finished with six, but three did an alternate route. We have five starting the Mid Atlantic Back road Discovery Route next Sunday!
I’m ready to go here. We’ve been riding The Ridge in Springville and they have decent trails, but I’m ready to hit a new park
Top Trails is fun. It's either going to be muddy as Hell or dusty as Hell. Cheap riding and nice campground as well as primitive sites.
@@off-roadridingadventures7129 it’s only about 30 minutes from my house, maybe 45 tops.
Glad to hear Mike is recovering.
He's back to full form! We are riding half of the MABDR next month! Will post video when all is said and done.
It’s only certain kits where they send you the alignment tool . I just got the ones that cover the whole rocker except the end and it didn’t come with the tool . really stupid in my opinion since you have to drill the holes out for every one of their kits
You can tell the dude that talks about breaking his leg is new to the outdoors and riding.
Been riding for 50 years and you?
hey guys im just getting back to riding after 25 years of not having a ride when my kids were young i lived outside of tampa a bit we came up and rode 4 wheelers in Ocala a lot im 60 now and had a stroke a few years back lost use of one leg and hand so 4 wheeler wont work to good for me my son lives about 3 houses down the road the other day a sxs went by us i looked at him and said we should get some of those i could handle that one sided. a week later he has one in his drive way he says i hope you were serios dad i replied i guess i was so now we both have one I'm so tired of sitting in the house every day.cant wait to do some camping and trail riding we live up here in Chiefland now so not a bad drive to the Osceola. we just have stock tires at this time could yall stear us towards any dryer areas for now thanks very much .
Hey I'm glad to hear that you are doing better! Don't be afraid of Osceola especially in the summer. It can dry up pretty fast out there. Also, download the free Polaris Ride Command app as it has the trails marked pretty well. There are really only two real deep holes that I know of. Most of the trails have work around bypass trails. The best entrance is off if Highway 90 almost directly across from the prison. Drive across the RR tracks to the parking area. This website is a great resource for finding riding area's in all states. It's where I found the Osceola trail system. www.riderplanet-usa.com/
Okay...im really dumb i guess 🤷♂️ ...engine air in...belt box in...belt box out...what is the fourth for ???
The belt box utilizes two snorkels. One directly over the clutch and the other is the belt exhaust.
Not being mean or anything. Just an educational thing here, but with all Do respect. We are not Ambulance drivers. There is much more to our job than just driving an Ambulance. We are highly trained (EMS) Emergency Medical Service providers. Calling us Ambulance drivers is nothing more than calling us a limo driver. Because that's all they do. Is drive Limos. Not down grading Limo Drivers. Their jobs are just as important as any other job, but with WAAAAAAY less training than what EMT's or Paramedics has to have. Myself, I have spent 6+ years in school training to be a critical care Paramedic. That's equivalent too, if not more training than a (RN) Registered Nurse gets. I know you don't/didn't mean anything by it when you said. "Ambulance Driver". I wish people would get out of the habit of calling EMS personal "Ambulance drivers". Call them (EMT's) which stand for Emergency Medical technicians, Medics or what we what we call ourselves is. (Ditch Doctors) lol. When you have a bad accident and are ejected from the vehicle or thrown off the Motorcycle and end up laying in the ditch. We are the ones that comes to the scene of the accident and actually saves your life while you are laying in that ditch. NOT! the Doctors, but us EMS guys/girls LOL.. We call it Fighting the (TGH). The Golden Hour (which begins at the time of the accident. Not after we arrive). Getting a person medical help during the TGH is a determining factor in whether you live or die in a traumatic accident. People don't realize that. It's our job to bring the (ER) Emergency Room to you instead of you to the ER. We understand as EMT's/Medics that the ER Doctors get's all the Glory, pay and credit for saving peoples lives after the fact and all we get is this. We get the satisfaction of knowing we saved a persons life which means more to us EMT's/Medics than any credit or all the money in the world for that matter. We do it because we love helping people. That's why it bothers me when we are called "Ambulance Drivers"
Brother, you are way over thinking things and are way too sensitive about your job. I spent 21 years as an Leo and have thousands of hours of training. Even in retirement I still train. In fact, I'm in Arizona this week running a training program. I was a cop and not a rocket scientist. I have nothing to prove about what my profession was or what I should be called. I could care less what anyone called me. Trust me when I say that I've been called worse than an ambulance driver. And thank you for your service.
Brother man. I appreciate your service in LE, I to am a retired flight medic, Firefighter and police Officer and assistant Police Chief. I retired in 2020 with 23 years of service under my belt. During those 23 years, I was shot not once, but twice and hit for the second time in my life by a car while on a traffic stop. Now. I do not know about you but, I have dedicated my whole life to the emergency profession and serving the people starting at the age of 17. I started as a firefighter and worked my way up to a flight medic for Life Star. When I was 20 years old, I was hit by a car and had to be flown to UT Hospital while working an accident on I-40. Spent a month in the hospital. That’s what got me interested in becoming a flight medic. I was hit again in 2019 on a traffic stop that only broke my left leg and knee joint causing me to have to have a total knee replacement and that’s what retired me or I would still be working as a Police Officer. I was shot 09 on a traffic stop & again in 2014 on a domestic, one of those times the vest stopped it ,but the other didn’t. I spent three weeks in the hospital. All of those times I didn’t have an Ambulance driver save my life. It was highly skilled EMS professional and Flight Medics that saved my life. With all that said. Speaking as a Police Officer, I have been called everything you can think of and I’m like you. I give two shits less what you call me. It’s water off a ducks back to me. I was just speaking up for all the others out there like my nephew who is also working his ass off to become a flight medic who won’t speak up when they are called Ambulance drivers by people who don’t know better. That’s all I was pointing out. Hope your training goes well and you don’t need them highly trained Ambulance drivers as you call them to chauffeur a bunch of rent a cops to the hospital. Lol
man, glad you buddy is ok, the DR can be fixed up, good to see he was up and moving
Thank you. He's recovering after breaking a couple of ribs and puncturing his lung. He has already started getting the bike back up running.
@@off-roadridingadventures7129 right on! 🤘🏻
I just spoke to him tonight, and he already repaired the bike and rode it today!
@@off-roadridingadventures7129 LOL....thats awesome...he's probably going nuts about it and wants to get back on the trail
I always hate crossing those tracks when they are wet. I go way slow and try to cross as upright as I can.
I'll definitely be watching for those tracks when I get out there to do this ride! Steep angle tracks and wet are definitely a major caution item on a bike. Feel bad about the weather you guys got stuck with, the only way it could be worse is if it was snowing. :(
Unfortunately the downed trees caused us to take this alternative route, otherwise we would have been on the trails. Ride safe!!
A few things. There was a rail crossing sign approaching the corner as well as a signal sign and rail crossing sign at the crossing so there was plenty of warning. What the issue was was the rider failed to negotiate the rails properly and took them at speed at a sharp angle. Also if a rider goes down and is on the roadway your first concern should be to block traffic (with one of the bikes and riders) and then give first aid and see if the injured rider can be moved. What I saw was more concern for the downed motorcycle.
You are wrong on several accounts. There is one yellow crossing sign about 35 seconds or so before the tracks in the direction that we were traveling. There are no crossing lights on our side of the road. There is a crossing sign on the opposite side of the road, which is actually just feet away from the tracks. The tracks are abandoned and are not in use, thus the lack of proper signals and signs. There were five riders, and several attended to downed rider while we got his bike and then him off the road. That is a blind corner, and cars were flying around the curve. The rider that you see checking on him and then running away from him was to run toward the corner to stop oncoming vehicles. Once they were stopped is when we moved the bike. He verbally advised that he was good enough to get out of the street, and we moved him. That video doesn't catch the stopped drivers calling 911 for us. I didn't add the video of us assessing his injuries prior to ems arriving. I'm a retired Leo, and one of the guys is a firefighter. We knew what we were doing. Did he take the wrong angle? Yes, he did. The Deputy advised us that location has a lot of incidents. While he was parked along the highway, a lady came around the corner too fast, and when she seen the Deputy,, she hit the brakes and got squirrely. So yeah, we got out of the road before he arrived.
@@off-roadridingadventures7129 don't yah just love the Monday morning quarterback bs, lol.
@ljoelmchanley3676 always have them. Last month I was in Nashville and there is the same exact set of angled tracks crossing a sharp turn. At least the RR or the City has those signs properly marked diagrams showing the angled tracks along with electronic signals.
Atleast hes ok!
He's on the mend. He broke a couple of ribs and lacerated a lung.
Dang, glad he's ok! Also thank you so much for posting this. It's videos like this which help people prepare and plan for conditions and spills like that. We did this trip in March 2024 and your video was 99.99% the same as us. Even crossed those exact same tracks (but we did stop at the Cuban restaurant, 100% recommend).
Yeahi wanted to stop bad for a cup of conleche, but we were freezing. The rider next to me is Cuban and he was so cold that he didn't even see the place!
At 14:27 you can clearly see a RR track warning sign. Rain, RR tracks at other than 90 degrees and poor visibility is a recipe for trouble. Cross RR tracks at 90 degrees just like you would cross a downed log. Lucky he didn't get hurt worse.
Full conditions. Glad he was not seriously injured.
What an awesome looking ride thru some outstanding country! Bet that recovery was way worse than the camera shows!!!
It was tough! Only two could get behind and try to pull and that wasn't happening. The camera takes out the steepness of the hill, and the leaves were so mulched that we couldn't push up. It was on a Monday with zero Jeep traffic, so the only way up was down!
Nice looking country, going to have to visit. I live in Montana we still have snow in the hills and ice on some lakes. My DR is calling but it's still a little chilly. Nice video.
Thank you!! Still working on the 2nd and 3rd day vids. Our buddy buddy on the DR takes a bad crash in the 2nd video. He spent two days in the hospital.
What GA park has the best mud for atvs or jeeps?
Georgia is pretty limited for riding parks these days. You have Iron Mountain outside of Dahlonega that probably has the best combo for atvs and Jeeps. Durhamtown has a small Jeep section and all of their atv trails are one way trails. Not a ton of mud there. Depending on where you live, just across the GA state line in Piedmont, AL is Indian Mountain. They aren't set up for Jeeps but in my opinion the best atv Park in the south next to the TN parks.
What movie are you referring to with kids walking across the damn?
Fried Green Tomatoes
I never get in the water ,I always hit the hardest trails and I ride a ATV.
Top Trails has a good mix. I've still got to download the trail mountain side videos. The Go Pro 11 videos have to be reformatted and it is a process that takes forever. Probably going back to using the 7 for most of the filming.
@@off-roadridingadventures7129good to hear. I'm trying to get caught up on my work so I can get to hit 5 hills with my new set up the the 30x10x14 Roxxzilla Competition soft compound. Also there is clay hill climbing to do.
@crazyflyboy30 looks like they did some work on Five Hills area. Climbs aren't as gnarly looking as the last time that we were out there. Cruised right up the far left climb like it was a normal trail.

Hello, My son & I have gen 3 KLR'S and are planning a trip next summer from Dallas Tx. to Yosemite ,via Palo Duro canyon , northern New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada ,Death valley & then on to Yosemite. I'm 64 years old & have a 300 mile day trip as my longest KLR ride, Our butts were talking to us a bit ,but not too bad, I have made a similar trip when I was in my 20's on a street bike. I /we are so looking forward to this adventure ride on these dependable KLR' memory makers, Lol, by the time the trip arrives I'll be 65 & my son 16.
That will be an awesome trip! I just fractured my tibia, so I'm off the bike for at least 8 weeks. Make sure to video that ride, because those memories are going to be awesome!
Well shoot...bummer about the knee. I ruptured my ACL a few years ago (doing chores) and I can attest that 2 months on crutches is a major drag. Your KLR now has some "street cred" on the crash bars and pannier. Good luck with your recovery.
Thank you so much for the well wishes. I will be back for round two in spring. Just more upset that it happened over such a small incident on the trail.
