Herne bay old pier ruins in Kent. Filmed with a GoPro Hero 3 black set to 4k resolution @ 15fps so not the smoothest. Drone used was a DJI phantom 2 with a H3-3D Gimbal.

I went this year in September with my wife and cousin . I got chased by a naked guy on the beach he try to smash my drone up . Guy called Steve who is a naturist told me there names and I have reported them to the police .
My friend and I walked her dog on Neptune's arm and saw a budgie xD. Edit: Also, we are going to Kent today!

I'm confused. So , recorder is showing us the pier and goes really low to the actual sea itself, but when it came to the pier earlier in the video, he kept the drone way up in the sky so you can't really see much.... ? quite disappointing. I've always wondered what it is like over there.... and I guess we'll never know! Unless the gopro'er takes another attempt at getting it right .... -_-

Went to Kent for a week in March 2017(last week) and this place was on the list to visit. A very nice place to see and would have been more interesting if the tide had of been out. Your video is amazing. Thanks for sharing.

when I was about 10 years old my mum and dad took me to Southend on a paddle steamer from the extension off Herne Bay in the years following lmy dad ,brother and I use to go fishing off the pier

Lovely. I was at Herne Bay last week. Didnt have the balls to got out that far. I presume you need range extenders? And how much battery life did you have when you got back?
Yes the range extenders work well I'm using a set from horizon fpv, 2.6km they have been tested to. The battery life was ok you can get out there in a few minutes giving you 4-5 minutes flying around the ruins before returning.
I've wondered what the end of the old pier looked like up close for years. Great stuff!

I remember catching a paddle steamer off the end of the pier to Southend then the train back to Hearne Bay when I was about 5 years old I think we only did it once

Hi there, I use immersion 25mw video transmitter, black pearl monitor and horizon nimrod antennas for extra distance. Flying out at sea you can get great distances due to no obstacles. This is about max distance for this setup.

whats your fpv setup. I tried to fly out there yesterday with my phantom and was about 50m short when my video signal started to break up

No worries, Keep the good videos coming. Did you have to do any modifications to get the hero 4 to fit your h3-3d gimble?
kentphantom flyer No I didn't need to make any changes at all, and I also use the PolarPro filter and film in 4K at 24fps on the Hero 4, and then shrink the video down to 1080p. Some people recommended adding weights and things to their gimbal but it doesn't really need them to be honest - I've been flying with this combination for months now. The only negative is with the ND filter attached if you're facing the wind sometimes it can cause the gimbal to jerk to the right suddenly which is annoying.
I get that problem as well, I originally thought it was a glitch with the gimble. I'll be swapping the hero 3 for the 4 soon I think. I want to start filming more in 4k. Is there any reason why you don't shoot 4k @ 30fps?
kentphantom flyer Yeah because when I look under the settings only 24 & 25fps are available when filming due to PAL settings. 30fps appears under NTSC - but I have to set my GoPro to PAL since I use an FPV kit with the GoPro which is also PAL. But, I could just change both settings to NTSC I suppose, might do that! I was worried about my gimbal when it started jerking around and initially thought my drone was falling from the sky!
Which do you prefer? Vision or GoPro?
Both are very good tbh. If picky the Gopro hero 3 black has the slight edge with picture quality.
