Several examples of car passing and NOT hold their lines. Crossing over in front of the passed car and then braking. Others cars leaving the lane open in the corner, and then not holding their line and pushing people off in the grass either at apex or exit. EC cars (mustangs and GTO, e46 M3) fighting for position and not holding their line. Their position does NOT count against the other classe...

Are you not allowed to run ITBs in your class?
Points are assigned for various modifications. I have to stay within a certain points limit. Besides, ITBs will not make anymore power. I'm ~110 hp/liter, with 1.8 liters, that is over 200 hp.
@BMWontrack ok thought they did increase power
@@jobamer7684 I haven’t seen any ITB dyno charts that make more power with a stock bottom end and stock head = as in not stroked and no head work. I haven’t touch the ports at all.
Amateur racing there is a lot of mistakes. Going through the effort of creating and posting the video, great to learn from, but come on, hold your own driver to the same standards too. The vortex of danger is not only after the apex, there was a lot of going for gaps that were closing, (1:57) the white Miata right after that also had the right of way into the corner, as the passing car you were never alongside even by a bumper, so not sure what the Miata was supposed to do there when you go for the closing gap. Multi class amateur racing you should expect not the best racecraft. Everyone is there to have fun and go home at the end of the day.
thank you for watching. @2:08 the white miata had ample time and room to fall in behind the black BMW. But he "left the door open". He was going to leave racing room (we are not paid pro racing for money). The Miata then turns in very late to make an apex to the curb and never even makes it (novice HPDE late apex). I saw the gap was closing and made the necessary adjustments (steering and brakes). All the while I was well aware of what was happening in front of me AND and behind me with blue boxster (LEADER) coming thru.
Did this intake cost the 25 points? What’s the advantage over the stock intake with the disable removed? Also is that blue bar from the door reinforcement?
yes, 25 points for the intake. all M4#/M5# motors loose ~20% torque at peak rpm (5000 to 7000). The intake runners are sized to match the cam so there is no loss of torque up to 7500 rpm. Motor makes approx the same peak torque as stock, but the torque stays CONSTANT all the way to 7500 rpm and beyond. This equates to over 60+ hp increase over the stock M42. This all because of the intake restriction. Torque curve directly relates to well an engine can breathe. blue bar = sway bar. No not from the door... I will look into that... it will save me some points
Is this a 1.8 Liter ? Or 2.0 ? Very good !!
1.8 liter
is that a flipped power steering pulley on the alternator to underdrive?
Flipped M42/44 water pump pulley with special adapter to drive the alternator 1 to 1 with the crank. Stock is 1 to ~3+ overdrive !
Hey, if I use a lightened flywheel, chip, and change the cam and valves and lifters, what hp would it push roughly?
marginal gains. The stock "bundle of snakes" intake (long and small runners) is made for low and mid-range torque. Look at the stock dyno graph, the torque drops off steeply about ~5000 rpm. This is mainly because of the long and small cross section runners.
@BMWontrack Okay, thank you! I didn't know if I'd get any noticeable gain in my drift car with those mods because for a similar price I can turbo it
What is the complete setup?
Custom Cams, custom intake, stock throttle body, LINK ECU. Solid lifters and Supertech springs. The head and valves are stock. No porting. Intake is specifically designed and fabricated to match the cams. This yields ~110+ hp/liter
That's amazing. So it's roughly 250hp
@@kylemcfarlane4274 110 hp/liter at 1.8 liters = 198+ HP. actually ~203 hp at the crank
How did the oil pump perform?
@@kylemcfarlane4274 no oil pump issues. Latest build I shimmed the oil pressure spring for increased pressure at redline for better oil pressure and flow for more bearing protection.
Hey, this plenum is compatible whit stock ecu ? Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
you could run stock ecu but will need custom tuning. Need bigger fuel injectors to support ~200+ hp. The problem with e36 Bosch 282 and 990 box is that the full throttle fuel map is hard coded. Change the EPROM fuel numbers will not have any affect. The best is to use the e30 Bosch 175 box which allows you to tune the full throttle fuel map and as well as all of the other fuel and ignition maps. I ran 1 season with the 175 box.
@@jaybee5390 I tried that... no effect on the AFR ratios. Tried all settings, on many different maps. The only way to make it work (crude) was to adjust the master injector size so the WOT was safe (but very rich in spots), and then tune the idle the part throttle maps.
What is your ecu number? Whats the coding? 801E?
@@jaybee5390 990 box = WOT 1st cell = 5067h, 1x16 map 282 box = WOT 1st cell = 51BAh, 1x16 map 175 box = there are 4 1x16 WOT fuel maps, varies by regional coding. USA cars use the 4th map, 525Ah 1x16 map
@@jaybee5390 141 141 141 141 141 141 137 136 136 138 139 138 139 139 139 139 wow, this is an unlabeled table and with no axis references. I don't know if I'll be able to try this again. I've moved onto to a LINK standalone ECU and run with Speed-Density, or AlfaN setup.
Que comando de válvulas é.
translated = what control valve? I don't understand what you are asking about. Custom cams with solid lifters. Now running Link ECU for BMW e36 for full control
What’s the cooling setup for all this extra power ?? Electric water pump, thermostat temperature, etc. ?? Nice clean effective mods ! Love it.
Stock Water pump, 75C Thermostat. The fancy metal tube is just a tube in tube heat exchanger to take the place of the radiator so I can run and tune the motor for long periods. Engine reaches and maintains normal operating temp. Stock throttle body, and Stock head, porting, and valves. All the "magic" is in the cams, airbox and runner size. 100+ hp/liter. ~200 hp at the crank.
What size runners and and cam degree does it have?
i need mine like that🤤
Hey man, how do you have the front of your cage set up?
Hello, not sure what you are asking. Overhead bars from main roll hoop forward, then follow the A-pillar down, thru the dash, and to the floor. Both sides. Front cross to join the 2 at the top of the windshield, and thru the dash. Both doors are simple = 2 bars with 3 verticals, projecting into the doors. The cage is legal for most all racing bodies.
Which M42 engine version is this? You have the late model front timing cover on which allows you to run the more modern alternator and belt assembly. The older timing covers only allow for the older style v-groove belts. OR Did you fabricate a way to mount the newer style pulleys on the older timing cover? 🤔 Either way, this is really cool to see. Can't remember if I've ever seen a running m42 out of the engine bay haha
BMW M42 from 1993 e36 318is. I believe all e36 M42 have serpentine belt. E30 M42 are V-belt. I built the running stand with chassis side engine harness connector. It has switch box for ignition switch and fuel pump. Just need the remote fuel reservoir which is hanging from the ladder.
thats gotta be the fastest Hardwood Dolly in america
Nice. What’s been done to it ? Cams and tune ?
Custom Intake, stock throttle body, Special small injectors from a new/modern BMW, custom ground cams & solid lifters. In this video, I am tuning the factory ECU = *note, the 282 WOT fuel map cannot be tuned. It is hard coded. I am running and tuning the 175 ECU from e30 which allows tuning changes to the WOT map. I am now switching to a plugNplay LINK standalone ECU for easier tuning and more control, should be more power running Speed-Density (no flow meter). Currently making ~180 hp - we race against 2.5 e30 and e36 and are equal in power.
@@BMWontrack What is the cost of engine parts alone, and how much hp can it handle?
@@Testa11 Cams and ECU are the big expense items ~$3000 for both. I fabricated the intake = there is nothing like it on the market. Engine makes ~140 lb-ft of torque from 5000 to 7500+ rpm. It is over 200+ hp with 7500 rpm limit. It can rev a lot higher. 8500 rpm would be close to ~226 hp but the injectors run out of duty cycle. Big injectors can rev higher.
all that work and you still runing on that ancient vane type afm? just get speeduino or something more recent
Thank you for the comment. The motor makes the same power as the 2.5M50 6 cylinders we race against. I am now switching to a standalone ECU for easier tuning, and to run Speed-Density or AlphaN.
I did switch to a Standalone ECU running Speed-Density, or Alpha-N. Motor is now making ~200+ hp at the crank, or ~177+ hp at the wheels.
One fast ladder
Love it
Yes!!!
Now still tweaking the tune to get the most reliable power
The white Mustang fuel issue was being taken care of. Had an issue with Flagtronics on that car trying to get him in. He had a broken fuel fill hose.
