    A nice little detail that stood out to me is that the tail gunner at 0:31 seems to have spotted the Loc-Nar approaching them. You see him looking down slightly from the direction he was shooting with a look of surprise. Later we see the Loc-Nar flying in from the same direction.

    • @CloudRollerFox
      @CloudRollerFox ปีที่แล้ว

      I think he was just shooting at a Japanese A6M Zero. The Loc-Nar didn't show up until after the bombing run. Why I say they're fighting the Japanese is because the location being surrounded by water, a few islands and the bomber literally having "Pacific" in the name, hence the Pacific Theater against the Japanese

    The most badass depiction of a B-17 in action imo. And it's a cartoon

    The American Air Forces 1942-45 flew missions primarily during the daylight. The Brits of the Royal Air Force flew their missions primarily at night.... they thought the Americans were CRAZY because they (the Brits) had already tried daylight bombing and the Germans were pretty effective at shooting down bombers either from Flak batteries, or Luftwaffe fighters. This was an amazing animation though.

      Ball turret gunners were pretty much dead men to start with. Ball gunner is a death sentence, there is a very famous poem about it.

    How did they do animation back in the 80s?

  • @namedropper9237
    @namedropper9237 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s really cool yeah? But this scene has a lot of inaccuracies that I would point out but people already have but just a quick example the gunners are shooting at nothing. Enemy fighters wouldn’t fly threw flak to get a confirmed kill.

    • @CloudRollerFox
      @CloudRollerFox ปีที่แล้ว

      Imagine taking the time to draw Japanese fighters in the background at certain angles, which I'm sure the artists could have done, but maybe something during production prevented them from doing so. Probably to save time or some other reason. Either way, they were shooting at Japanese fighter planes. And sure planes wouldn't be crazy enough to go through flak to shoot down a bomber, but who knows what the pilots would be thinking if it meant shooting just one American bomber down, given 4 of the 5 in this segment were in fact shot down

    Eric Mival the music editor on The Prisoner was spot on when he chose this for the incidental music at Engadine's 'dreamy party' in The Prisoner' episode 'A, B & C'. One would think it was written especially for the scene it works so well. A classic episode though my favourite is 'Checkmate'.
