    Lost count on the number of wheel bearings I’ve replaced / repacked over 40 years and I’ve found the easiest way to clean your hands of grease initially is to use sheets of newspaper then a rag.

    I’m not a fan of airbags on leaf packs, better to redo pack to suit loads. Always keep fuel dockets, just in case get bad dose of diesel. Scan gauge great for monitoring temperatures, but note if coolant is lost, factory coolant temperature sensor don’t work, that’s why a lot of 3.2L engine are lost when EGR cooler fails. Low coolant alarm are great investment

    • @BirdieTravels
      @BirdieTravels 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your tips mate. Yeah you are right - we actually do keep our fuel dockets for that reason. I love my Scan Guage - if the coolant is lost, oil temperature will go up......thought I might need airbags but at this stage, I've only put 10psi pressure in them and probably don't really need them after all! It's all a learning curve....Thanks again for watching our episodes. Really appreciate the feedback. Steve

    Wouldn’t wash out the bearings with water, can cause rust. Brake cleaner or so. Personally use kerosene to clean bearings for repacking. Always back off castle nut about 1/8 of turn. Check swing arm bolts and nuts are tight, plus shock bolts. Hate seeing chipboard used in caravans

      G'Day Robert. Thanks for the question. Our caravan sits quite high off the ground, so I jack it up on a couple of blocks of wood to help make it level and the jack sits high. Also, I leave they jockey leg on whilst travelling, so I don't have to take it off and find somewhere to put it when we hook up. With the foot off, the bottom of the shaft can be wound up level with the bottom of the draw-bar when travelling. Hope this makes sense. Steve

      Aluminium Section Sail Track is what it's called, and we got it from Bunnings. I found it on the Bunnings website also. Thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed the video. Hope this helps. Steve

      SKU: IC-004 Category: TPMS Accessories Hi Brian. Thanks for the question. We got the iCheck TPMS Signal Booster directly from ichecktpms.com.au. This solved all our problems with losing signal. I highly recommend getting this if your signal is dropping out. Have a great day and hope this helps! Steve

    Hi Steve & Dena. This was useful info that will come in handy for us down the track. I have a couple of silly questions I'd like to ask please. When you rivet the shade cloth slide to the van, is there anything to be aware of when you drill through the van for the rivets, what are you drilling into & will it be water tight, should silicone be used around the drill holes? Also, is the red anderson plug for the vehicle to caravan electric brakes only & the grey one for everything else? I don't always see a red anderson plug on caravans. Thanks.

      @BirdieTravels หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Don. With the rivets, I used self-sealing rivets. When drilling into the side of the van, you're not drilling too deep so no problems there. I didn't bother with silicone because I used self-sealing rivets. No - the red anderson is for your braking system and the grey one is for everything else. Hope this helps. Thanks for the questions Don. Have a great day!
