just as an aside, the recordings are vastly different. There is almost no base in Caissie's and it sounds like it was recorded from inside a tin can

I do not believe there can be a bad Elphaba. The Wicked team doesn't allow it. The fact that they have both standby and understudy actresses shows just how important it is to the production team to have quality on that stage. The fact that Caissie moved so quickly from understudy to lead is a testament to the talent she showed the producers. Both of the actresses are amazing, and I've had the ability to see them both (Eden in SF filling in for SJB and Caissie twice in LA). It does a disservice to both to say one is better . . . it is really just our personal preferences, which are totally acceptable and understandable. Eden's performance typically included more flourishes, which can be impressive. Caissie's performance adhered more closely to Idina's template. I'm glad I got to experience both.

They were always great but this waltz didn't quite capture the feel of the first one. They set such a high bar for themselves early on, it would be hard to top it. The judges sounded more like coaches here, almost warning them against 'mailing it in' late in the game and picking out little things like the arm positions... I think the judges were also trying not to look biased in D&B's favor.

The dancing was amazing, the English guy (Nigel?) had his criticisms, which most of the audience disagreed with by the "boos" lol and then the sycophant woman (who is she? She reminds me of a younger Marie Osmond w/hipper clothes) went along with it.

Why did the judges think it was so horrible? Looked pretty good to me.

I feel like Nigel is more relaxed on criticism as the season went on?

The Viennese Waltz always bores me when done on the show in comparison to the other styles, but this was incredible. So perfect and fluid and I couldnt take my eyes off of them.

no contest.... i'm sorry but i really do not like caissie, i never did i just dont thin elphaba was her role. i give her loads of credit but idk...=/

see...i didn't really like either of them as s/b or u/s because they had to imitate the principle, and it wasn't really them. however, when they were lead, oh my gosh, they just killed it. both were so amazing and wonderful. i loved them!!! they are soo great!!!!!!!! i can't even describe...just AHHH!!! haha. however, Eden is my number one Elphaba for reasons i'd be MORE THAN HAPPY to explain if asked. Caissie is like 2 or 3 on my list though...both are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is hard, because Caissie & Eden are my 2 favourite Elphaba's. My opinion is that Caissie is a better 1st act Elphaba and Eden is a better 2nd act Elphaba. Both are amazing, but Caissie has the goofyness needed in the first act and Eden had the angryness needed in the second act. So that's what I think. Both are 100 times better than Idina!

I LOVE EDEN! i met her at my cousins church in whittier and she was really nice. She makes Wicked awsome i wish Kristin would have joined her here in LA

In my opinion, I'd choose Eden hands down over Idina (in terms of Elphaba, anyway) but thats just my opinion, Wingwongladybug34. Just because someone was in the OBC doesn't mean the others who proceeded them aren't as good if not better than they were =/ Once again, just my opinion =P

Sorry to the Caissie fans but she sounds whiney and she's trying to hard...eden does have a powerful voice. I'm glad Eden came back to close the L.A. show and I was there to watch it :)

. . . You think she's the best, that's your opinion. Alot of people also think Eden is terrible. TO me, she sounds like she's constantly straining. Caissie started as an Understudy, but she quickly rose up on the Wicked ladder, either way, I do believe Eden started as a standby.

Caissie beats Eden. I think Caissie was one of the best and most original. I can't stand Eden. :-/ Her voice just does nothing for me.

They are really 2 totally different voices.. but i like Eden's better.. However with props to Caiisie for the end of her run in L.A. she was awesome!

eden has a better voice then caissie hands down. but caissie is the superior singer. but people tend to treat them the same. i could go through point by point why i think caissie is the better SINGER but it'd take way more room than i have to write, eden lover/caissie haters wouldnt care and just blindly say eden is better. with that being said let me say again...i LOVE LOVE LOVE eden's voice to no end. but after the countless performances i saw from both, caissie wins for best singer.

Caissie is HORRIBLE [as Elphaba]! I don't even think Eden is that good in this performance cause I have heard her do it wayyy better, but it's because this recording of Eden was probably when she was Idina's standby so she had to sing it like Idina. But Eden can SING, she is the best Elphaba.

Personally I have to get it to Eden hands down, having seen her on Broadway and then in LA, I have to say the girl has got a voice. She can hit the high notes, low notes, and everything in between. Besides that I felt that Eden brings a lot to her characters, she really brings them to life for me more than the others i have seen. I am so excited to see Eden when she takes on Rent.

I think she sounds better live than she does on here, for sure. When I first youtubed her, I was disappointed, but when I saw her in the theatre, I was blown away.

Caissie's voice has come light years since this, or, maybe, it's just better live. Everyone I've ever talked to at a live performance is blown away by her. I think she has enough texture in her voice while ALSO maintaining a voice that is believable based on what we've heard of Margaret Hamilton's Wicked Witch of the West.

Why do you have to compare Elphabas and Galindas/all people in Wicked? They're all terrific! That's the honest truth. They all have their own personalities that are amazing, and people are always saying "Idina is the best!" "No one can compare with Eden!" "SJB has such a strong voice compared to __" or w/e it is.. Just except they're all good enough to get casted, they just all have amazing differences, but that doesnt make them better than another, I can't see why some people can't accept that

I totally agree! I have seen Caissie live and she is absolutely AMAZING!! I have seen a lot of youtube videos of her, and none of them come close to doing her justice! When she started singing, my mom leaned over to me and said "She has the voice of an angel" (lol) I love love love Caissie, and I can't wait to see her again!!

I've compared Idina vs. Eden vs. Caissie, and I still like Eden best. Her voice just exudes the qualities of a strong person with a difficult past, but is still humble, has a golden heart, but is a fighter & a survivor. She IS Elphaba!
