3rd October 2022 - Looking down from the top of a public cliff footpath (via Cliff Rd), the footpath also providing a way of access to the beach and promenade which runs from Sandown to Shanklin.

Condor Ferry's left Weymouth because of Weymouth and Portland Council would not extend the Dock for bigger craft

Why no smoke stack, like any normal ship?
This ship is a ferry, it uses water jets so it doesn’t emit smoke out of it that’s why
Because it's not a normal ship, it's a fastcraft. Exhaust comes out underneath the central hull.

Beautiful lines. Remember taking our car to France on this rather than the usual Brittany Ferries. A revelation.
Sad times to see a once bustling port closed to commercial passengers, railway link removed...and now what? More paid parking spaces. Expensive apartments and back hangers to the council. Another gem resigned to the history books courtesy of greedy corporations and propped up bank balances and shareholders that think nothing about the public service or interest well done world...must be the millionth fail I have seen...sad times
We travelled from Poole to Guernsey on a fast Condor Ferry, very nice trip.
Do they still run the Condor Liberation from Poole to the CI ?

I remember travelling on this service to Jersey, maybe in the early 1990s. Why was it discontinued and what was it replaced with?
A new bigger fast ferry was purchased to serve from mainland UK to the Channel Islands and replaced both the Vitesse and Express fast ferries which ran services from both Poole and Weymouth, the new ferry required port improvements in Weymouth if it were to run from there and would reportedly come at a cost of around 10 million pounds, this came after 18 month long emergency harbour wall repairs were already made at the cost of 4.5 million pounds after it began to collapse in 2012. Pleas from the council for funding failed so it was decided that the new fast ferry Liberation would only run from Poole to the Channel Islands leaving Weymouth without a ferry service since. Vitesse and its sister ship Express were sold to a Greek ferry firm.

Would that be the reason why the council were, keen to demolish the Port railway station etc? Were they hoping that by redeveloping the relevant area of the port that they could've saved the service?

shame cause they used to be fun to watch in waymouth and its a lovely town yes im from nothampton whch is over 100 miles away but when i am at waymouth it is lovely and when i go and park near the tower (what ever its called) the condor place just sits there... looking sad and abandoned like toys r us waymouth council if ur reading this do something!
They got rid of the ferries because they took to much room and there space has been filled with another boat !!!
