Matt shares diplomatic strategies to work with differing opinions without rocking the boat.

That filter working against you.
When I find out what I want to know, I'm done... by the way, thank you for teaching me.
That's an actually pretty common view. A lot of people stop watching videos because they got what they needed.
Such interest stats, thanks Matt. Some figures I was not expecting.
Us to. Over the 10 years of the report, things have remained fairly consistent, with a change here or there-but definitely, this year's report brings some things to think about.
22,000? I'm at 135,000 plus now. You should have me back so we can talk about the incredible growth. I'd love to share those insights.
Thank you. Such good content and invaluable tips and insights.
Squint test is a good method 👌👌👌
Very knowledgeable
So helpful. Thank you.
I'm so pleased you enjoyed it 🎉
Very nice and good interview thank you very much
THE GOAT
Thanks for having me on the show, Matt!
Josh it's always a pleasure to talk with you. Thanks for sharing your insights.
Hey, listened to this pod first time today, and I'm now subscribed. It was mentioned in your bio for the Dev learn conference you're speaking at. I've got some catching up to do.
Glad you found us. I hope that you stick around and you find the content helpful! Dev Learn is a great conference and place to learn!
Sounds like you just green lit me to tell everyone to f*** off today with their meetings
All "talking heads." It would have been nice showing some B-roll of Megan Torrance demonstrating the actual set-up of how they actually shoot their videos.
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, we were located at a conference and were not near Megan's HQ - so not able to see it in action. If we get a chance to visit her onsite, we can grab some footage.
So True about Audio being very Important. Thanks
LOL: Blair Witch Project I have a bad habit of over-explaining: If you ask me what time it is, I might tell you how to build a clock.
I sometimes call that "overthinkitis." I'm guilty of that, myself! I find a good trick is whenever you think you may be inclined to get too much into the weeds on something, practice giving yourself a timer on how long you allow yourself to explain something. You make better word choices and it also leads to helpful pausing, so your listener can have time to process.
Sir, could you please upload physiology of CNS in details. I have learn many things and concepts become clear from Anatomy of CNS.
Working with international audiences is super interesting and very challenging, you learn a lot in the process and there is no end to learning, one of the reasons why such kind of work doesn't get boring. "Think of your audience" is the best advice! 👌
Taimmmmmmm✨️✨️✨️🍉🍉
The locomotive will not replace the horse, trust me I am a lobbyist.
Kind of funny that the thumbnail misspells “Turning.” 😮 Especially in light of the topic.
The best-laid plans... stuff happens and we roll with the punches. 🤷
Very Good Video, Very Good Guest, Very Interesting, Very Thought Provoking, Thanks
Thanks. Mike is awesome and super knowledgeable.
Таим, ты молодец! 👏🏻
Taim talks med ❤❤❤❤

First like and comment! 🤭🔥
Great content. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for having me!
Thanks for sharing all of your insights and your journey!
I like "This is HOW I would do it" Andy!
Great topic! Often I will script an outline with key points that need to be mentioned or shown and let the rest free-flow. Also, it takes several practice sessions before that is fine tuned and ready to record.
Great workflow. Sometimes I find that the first take nails it - but yeah, a few run throughs to make sure I get things smoothed out.
It's nice to hear you guys struggle with the same things i do. Loved this type of content and very useful tips. The "hey mom" and "just make videos" tips are great.
@antonionakic2690 - right! The "hey mom" is one of those little things that is SUPER easy, but has a great impact.
This is an issue I’m continually working on because sometimes getting the script written prevents me from producing videos, but if I create a video unscripted, editing is exhausting. What’s interesting about this video, how much of it was scripted? Did it take longer to edit than an unscripted video? Thanks for sharing the evolution of your process!
So for this video (podcast) - it's an interview style - which is unscripted, although there was preparation on the questions. And given that Matt has at least 200 has given over 200 on-camera interviews, he's gotten pretty good at the process. Editing was done pretty quickly - although editing is intentionally light. If you look at the more tutorial-style videos that Andy does, it's a different style - like Andy said, the unscripted edit, definitely took longer. Thanks for watching and your comment.
I would love to hear about the difference between establishing brand and establishing identity.
As we're looking at guests, we'll definitely see what we can do!
Had to look up "asymmetric". having parts that fail to correspond to one another in shape, size, or arrangement; lacking symmetry.
❤ He deserves the praise. 🎉🎉
Have a Great 2024 Mate.Time to LEVEL UP!!!!!!
Thanks so much @thatlogicproguy! It is - looking forward to seeing what you do in 2024!!
Excellent, Matt! Content providers are always inspired by other SoMe, which influences one's own style. Often this content is motivated by reaching as many people as possible. As you say, some of it is extremely compressed, to keep you engaged. Everyone wants to be heard and seen, but it is important not to lose yourself and your own distinctive character and your main target audience. Is it better to have 10,000 listeners/viewers engaged throughout the content without any effect afterwards, or is it better to have 150 who really benefited from your contribution to a topic? The last ones are most likely to come back, for the others you always have to compromise and fight harder. I have seen loggers who have cutting edge skills, technique and carpentry knowledge. Slow pace, 1 camera, minimal cuts and post production, but I like it. It's real and I learn something by subtle details that sticks with me afterwards. Not everyone prefers that form of communication. In the time I've watched one, the kids have watched 100 engaging and compressed reels in search of something spectacular. Are they left with a greater value for their content? Maybe, maybe not 🙂
I think you make a lot of great points. Of course at this point, I think a lot of it depends on what you want to do as in what you want to accomplish, and about your audience: who are they? What do they need? What are their expectations and if you can answer those things, I think it will determine a lot about what kind of content and how you edit that content There is a movement that I learned about called slow TV, I actually think it is a Nordic inspired phenomenon. And in that it's where they take content and it is very slow moving. It might be someone cutting wood, maybe following the path of a train, or making a sweater from sheep to end product. And while, this is definitely a different style and it has engagement and people watch it again. It comes down to what you're trying to accomplish. So there is something to be said about 100 faithful followers to watch and engage versus 10,000 who just maybe watch five seconds maybe 10 seconds. I think depending on what you're trying to do, both can have value but it's like a lot of things, it just depends.
Yes love this 👏🏾
It’s taken me 3 years to get to 6k followers and just about 1M views (_@themoderncreative) Humbling numbers but I feel compelled to continue to grow. Techsmith has helped me SO MUCH.
Loved this
