Palace of the popes in Avignon southern of France is one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic building in Europe, Once the fortress and palace of the Western Christianity during the 14 centuries occupied by 7 popes and 2 popes of the Papal Schism before the return back to Rome. In 1305 Pope Clement v move the papal Curia to Avignon the last pope who live here is Pope Gregory XI returned to the papal residence to Rome in 1377.
