Wow.... what a surprise to discover that I appeared in this video at the 1:06 to 2:19 mark. I am the fellow with the red fanny pack & green cycling jersey. So, Doug what are your thoughts about this event. It was the first time I participated in the Sea Otter Classic. I came down from Canada to visit friends and thought I take my bike with me and give it a try. I finished in 28th place.
Hey @hf5642. I just happened to see this; 9 months later! I'm happy to hear you spotted yourself. Thanks for mentioning it. I happened to be in town for a conference in Monterey and decided to go for the ride afterward. At the time I was just coming back from nursing an injury and still managed to fair pretty well. Great job finishing 28th. It's a little hike from Canada, but hopefully you had a great time and visit with your friends.
@@dougdominick9791 Hi Doug, thanks for getting back to me. I am enjoying riding my Fat Tire Bike all winter here in the “Great White North”. Still dealing with snow here in British Columbia. Are you planning to ride in the Sea Otter Classic this spring?
@@hf5642 The conference has been moved to October this year. So most likely I will miss this year. Last year was my first and only time at Sea Otter. It is a great event.

Hi MTB MOR. I recently got a new camera and started posting again. However, I'll primarily post at new locations I ride so it won't be as often as I did a couple years back.
@@dougdominick9791 Sounds good, I will look for them. I have been posted about once a week, but I don't know if I can keep up with that pace.
I was just in Bommer recently, I'll have to try that one. Is your camera on a gimbal? Nice footage. Climbing wise do you think that loop could be done on a single-speed?
Did this exact loop yesterday and it was still super muddy and rearranged. It’s gonna be a few weeks before it’s back to normal.
Cool! I thought the trails were closed this weekend and ended up riding closer to LA. I rode most of this loop last weekend and the weekend before. It was muddy although Bommer was groomed last weekend. This is still one of my favorite rides and I do it once a week, weather permitting!
Doug Dominick well... they kinda were closed. Haha but when I got to the Bommer trail, it was def smooth. They’ll def need a couple of weeks post rain to get back to normal. Can hardly wait for the summer weather to come back.

Does this ride take you up and over/under the 73 toll road?
Jack Stevenson ; Hi Jack, yes this ride starts near Turtle Rock Park and goes up through Bommer Canyon. Near the top of the hill of Bommer it goes under the 73 to Coastal Peak Park; and then on to El Moro from there.
